Thanks for the video man - Just gave it a shot on the PS3 Collection and got an infinite on the first try. I stood in front of the chest nearest to the fountain, and as a few mentioned - just stood there, no holding block or anything =D I happened to get a really good flow rate too - but I'm guessing that's just due to the luck of the draw as you mentioned. Fun playing this again so many years later and checking out all the crazy stuff you can do lol
After I got the glitch started I just went inbetween those two pillars on the right wall and held block, after a while they stopped attacking me just flying in place looking at me.GREAT GLITCH FOR EARLY ON.wHO WANTS TO WAIT TIL CLOSER TO THE END OF THE GAME TO DO THE HARPY/LADDER GLITCH!!!!!!
I tried this with GoW PS2 Platinum version. It's slower than the Atlas ladder glitch and a little harder to pull off but it works. I'm using the dumb looking "Dairy Bastard" costume so I bet it'd be even slower with the normal one.
I hid Kratos in the right hand statue compartment after setting up the orb fountain, the one with the chest. It stops the harpies attacking you so no holding down L1.
This glitch is useless for "infinite" red orbs for the PS3 version, but it can supply a good amount of them. The 'ladder glitch' is much better to use, IMO.
This glitch stops after a while because the incoming Harpies will hit and stop the glitching Harpie. You then have to do it all over again, but it's not hard to do.
Plus, this area has been patched for the PS3 version. Eventually, the Harpies stop giving red orbs. If you have to restart the glitch, that could mean no more orbs.
I no longer agree. Here's what I found I did wrong. 1.) Move the far right statue to the far right and back as possible. 2.) After the glitching starts, close the gap between the two statues so the glitching harpie can't escape. 3.) Move Kratos away from it! The other harpies can knock the glitching harpie and stop it. 4.) Turn off power saving on controller before start. 5.) Attach wire to controller to save battery life. 6.) Move Kratos to the far right chest where first find the right statue.
When you hide Kratos in that green/blue chest nook, it stops the harpies from attacking but from the front.. 7.) Use a rubber band to hold down L1 which blocks all harpie attacks. And here's the important one, 8.) Clear all the harpies from the picture frame without moving Kratos out of it, and the harpies wont enter anymore! AWESOME! Not a one attacked after I got Kratos in that position, and cleared all the harpies out of it.
This is great bro, seems to work infinitely, I found out something you didn't though.
Apparently when this glitch happens (I've only done it once, its going as I type) the hit detection on the harpies gets all fucked up. They keep trying to attack me and they keep hitting each other, I was holding block for a while then I realized they're not even hitting me. Maybe this happens every time if its in an infinite loop? Just a thought...
In the infinite loop, it did appear at first that the harpies would miss. But every couple of minutes, one would hit Kratos. Standing on the fountain does work! Harpies won't even follow you. However, over time, the bouncing of the screen moves Kratos to the side and he will eventually fall off the fountain. To fix this, once you get the glitch to work, climb on the fountain than make Kratos hang on the side. Then just sit the remote down and wait til 199! Dont forget to go back & save!
I found that you need the statues so close so that Kratos can't walk in, but he can still jump into the gap. After killing a harpie between the statues, as long as other harpies don't knock the dying harpie out of place, the orbs will keep coming.
This appears to be a much better red orb glitch than the others (Athens' rooftops and Challenge of Atlas) due to more reliability even though this is like a trickle of orbs and the others are fountains... Good find.
Not quite. Just shooting them with the stone beam (especially from the room's entrance, when you'll kill several at once) is easier since you don't have to touch the statues at all. But these two methods can be combined too.
If attacking other harpies wouldn't knock off the previous ones. But as I mentioned, it's a very "stable" place to get these to happen. I got about every other or third to do this as they spawned endlessly.
Sounds good. Would be quite useful when paired with the strat of waiting at the entrance for petrify those who were not stuck in the infinite death loop...to be efficient with magic use. If I wasn't busy doing a SoD FAQ update (using the Bow alot) I'd like to meddle with the exploits you show.

@seganaomigdrom
Nice if you got it to work that easily. This is just the tip of the iceberg, though, for crazy stuff that is possible in this game. :)

If you mean that the harpies stop giving red orbs when you've killed enough of them, that's nothing new: it's on PS2 as well.
I agree with everything else in your post.

So, this is a good place to red orb glitch.

does this still work in GOW collection?
sowutifmahsnsux 2 years ago
I believe it does.
AKheon 2 years ago
@AKheon Nope - Just now playing it, and the Harpies in the room don't leave red orbs when killed. That was their fix.

i glitched the harpie on the steps by the fountain o_o

if u stand on the fountain behand the two statues the harpies wont follow you and can just stand there forever while collecting all the red orbs

Hey, nice find Akheon. You mentioned there were several ways to get across, but I only know the one. What were you talking about?
KurtKokaine1 3 years ago
You can jump across the poles like a madman, or do it like Satvara does (another user you might like to check vids out).
AKheon 3 years ago
nice one!
try it on the left side of the room, instead of the right. somehow there you get the orbs MUCH quicker!
1lowdog 3 years ago
I tried it once, but it didn't seem to work at all. Maybe I should try again.
AKheon 3 years ago
my question is how we get across
tuan97 3 years ago
You have several ways. You're probably best off using the statues to block those two holes in the wall.

You're right. Even when you get several harpies at once the speed isn't exactly dizzying. but there still might be a way...
AKheon 4 years ago
If another method is found that would be nice but your method appears to be the easiest/ most reliable method of racking up easy orbs.

Very interesting way of getting it. Is it perhaps possible to get multiple harpies suspended with this method? That would be quite a site..
