  • The ratbag tried to claim successfully for some years he had co-written it.Fortunately truth won out.

  • Ahead of its time - a classic tune.

  • Bonnie Dobson, who actually wrote the song, not Tim, does a beautiful version recorded live in New York in 1962. Her version is superior. It's on You Tube. listen to it. ...It's third from the top on the right here......Tim Rose claims to have written Hey Joe. Well he admits on the Jules Holland show that he heard it first in the Appalachian Mountains as a boy and simply re-hashed an old song.

  • @swinderby Dead on swinderby - Bonnie Dobson rocks to heaven and is superior to TR in every artistic way imaginable - never knew he tried to steal the song til now. How sad is that ?

  • Is this John Bonham on drums?

  • I am wondering why no one else is objecting to the segment featuring a decomposing/mutilated corpse. Youtube is full of kickass vids that totally shred and well, completely rock out. This is the only version of Tim Rose's "Morning Dew" that has needless gore. What a distasteful use of a kick ass tune. LAME.

  • I first thought this was hawkwind! But this guy sure has one hell of a voice. What a brilliant song!!!!

  • Cat Stevens def dug Tim Rose.

  • Thank you hawkmoon03111951 for posting this track. It reminds me of warm spring mornings in Scotland fishing with my dad.

I love this version of Morning Dew by Tim Rose but i cant seem to buy it anywhere. Can someone advise me where i may be able to purchase it?

  • a friend turned me on to this track a couple of weeks ago as I'd never heard of tim rose but by jinks I'm glad he did as this version is absolutley fantastic and would've been great to dance to back in the day. Thanks for posting this "hawkmoon?" it's great and u have great taste in music..luv Bodie peace-out from Edinburgh,Scotland....

  • Heftige Bilder--sehr guter Song......

  • this song is great

  • Great Video!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • who played drums on this ? they are amazing!

  • @57dogsbody Bernard "Pretty Boy" Purdie - see full details at songsinger . info.

  • @mathieson48 Thanks for that: I'd never heard of him I'm ashamed to say.

  • @mathieson48 Thanks for that: I'd never heard of him I'm ashamed to say. Phenomenal fills: remind me of Keith Moon.

  • It's too bad that on this recording it fafded out as soon as it did.

  • I'm not interested in arguing about this. For a full exposé on the history of the song you might want to explore, "This Song is Your Song: The Story of Bonnie Dobson and Morning Dew", on Inside The Music, a CBC radio documentary abut it. In it, Bonnie talks about what happened.

  • @writeDVD I'm shocked that CBC could put out such a one-sided single-viewpoint "documentary. It makes me grateful the in the UK, we have the BBC, where even-handedness is paramount and a right of reply is given to anyone featured in a programme. However, as someone who believes in airing all points of view, I have put a link to this programme on the Tim Rose website at songsinger . info for anyone that wants to hear it.

  • @mathieson48 First off, Tim Rose was a thief and that has been proven time and time again, it is not a matter of "all points". What the CBC aired was thoroughly investigated and the fact is that Tim Rose wrote none of this song, and in fact stole it. He tried to steal 'Hey Joe' by claiming it was "an old Appalachian ballad" which has been disproved as well. You comment about the BBC being "even-handed" did provide with some great laughs though!

  • @micahcareyfilms I wonder what is in your psyche that you have to make such an issue of this, to the extent of calling a dead man a thief. Are you related to Ms Dobson, who does appear to have gotten over it or are you just some sad loser who needs an issue to argue about? If the latter, why don't you go attacking Dylan for all the plagiarism that he undertook? At least he's alive to answer for himself. Dylan was writing and publishing his "compositions" in the same context as Rose. Target him.

  • @mathieson48 We were not talking about: my psyche, someone being dead, my relation, or lack thereof, to Bonnie Dobson, Bob Dylan or anything else. We were talking about how Tim Rose claimed credit for songs that were not his, and his incredibly absurd claim that 'Hey Joe' was an "old Appalachian ballad" he heard from "a guy" when he was three (!?) What other Appalachian ballads did this "guy" sing that day? 'A Day in The Life'? 'Pumped Up Kicks'? He stole songs! So what he's dead? We all die!

  • @micahcareyfilms Your response absolutely sums up your psyche. At one time, I thought that if Tim was still alive, he'd take you through the courts for libel. Not now: he'd simply laugh at your pathetic obsession.

  • @mathieson48 We are talking about how he plagiarized other songwriters and your response is to play to throw out worn out crap about "psyche"? That's your reasoned response? Next! LOL!

  • @mathieson48 as Picasso was reputed to have said, 'minor artists attribute their sources, great artists steal them.'

  • @Iguanaseeyou Now that's a more reasoned response. :)

  • At the 0:30 mark is a scene from the 1959 movie "The World, The Flesh and the Devil" which starred Harry Belafonte, Inger Stevens and Mel Ferrer. Worth a view.

  • Tim Rose was a plagiarist and a thief.

  • @writeDVD It's easy to slander a dead man. Cowardly and completely inaccurate. Try reading more about the man before you decide to libel him again.

  • @mathieson48

Bonnie Dobson wrote Morning Dew in 1962. Tim Rose used a loophole in US copyright law to claim royalties. He wouldn't be able to get away with that today. It's not the only song the opportunist falsely claimed he wrote.

  • @writeDVD The facts are against you. Yes, Bonnie Dobson wrote Morning Dew, but Tim Rose adapted it, thinking it was a freely available folk song. Others had already performed and recorded the song, but his version was distinctly different and when he recorded it, he was advised by Columbia to claim copyright on his version. Subsequently, Elektra Publishing agreed to split the royalties, with the majority going to Dobson, who made a lot of money out of Rose's adaptation of her song.

  • @mathieson48 Cowardly? I think that's inappropriate of you.

  • @writeDVD To call someone who is dead a thief and a plagiarist is hardly brave of you. Perhaps you should read Tim Rose's account of the matter in an interview on the Ptolemaic Terrascope website. Two sides to every story. It appears that Dobson & Rose buried the hatchet many years ago. Perhaps you should too.

  • @mathieson48 Whether she forgave him or not, he deceived the public. You will read that Jeff Beck, for example, credited Tim, believing he was the author at the expense of Bonnie and this misinformation was published on the notes of Truth, of all places. It can never be unpublished.

Sing variation of Strawberry Fields and say you wrote it.

  • @writeDVD You seem so angry about something that happened over 40 years ago. Yhe simple fact is that when Tim Rose adapted and expanded the song, he did not know that it was not a traditional song. Accept that and move on. Many artists in the 60s did exactly the same. Was Dylan a plagiarist?

  • @mathieson48 If Tim Rose made an honest mistake when he "assumed" it was a traditional song why didn't he sign his "legal" right to royalties back to Bonnie? Dead or alive, if you don't like the word thief, I hope you can at least accept it was a greed-driven dishonest money grab. Perhaps it was pushed upon Tim by record label corporate thugs but that doesn't make him innocent in my book.

  • @chiPerseiC14 As I said before, you need to read the whole story. He did sign over 75% of the rights to Bonnie, who benefitted substantially from his version and subsequent ones that were based on the way Tim adapted the song. Remember, too, this is the guy who had his version of "Hey Joe" lifted by Hendrix and he never got a penny for it. A bit of sympathy there, perhaps?

  • @mathieson48 - If you can't link to the article to which you continue to refer it doesn't exist.

  • @chiPerseiC14 This is getting tiresome - are you suggesting I'm making it all up? Not my style. YouTube doesn't allow URLs on the postings, so you'll have to remove the blanks to get to this: w w w . songsinger . info / tr / Interviews . html

The relevant one is the Terrascope one, although perhaps reading the whole site might aid your education.

  • @mathieson48 The article you refer to is an interview in which Tim basically says I’m Not Guilty! Well DUH! What did you expect him to say? Nowhere does it say he signed over 75% of his rights to Bonnie. It didn't happen. Here is a reference for you: ht tp : //bit. ly/ ed8ZeZ (remove spaces) It’s a link to a near hour-long CBC investigative report titled "This Song is Your Song: The Story of Bonnie Dobson's 'Morning Dew'" It should put an end to this debate for anyone who may be interested.

  • @mathieson48 "Two sides to every story" my ass! He stole the song, end of story! You may not like that fact, but it is a fact!

  • WARNING, Some graphic scenes. not for the fainthearted.

  • @Patrickjcdoyle Thanks .it would be nice it had been the creator of the video to have warned us. I almost sent this to a Vet. he's been through enough ya know.

  • beautiful video - thank for loading!!! Good feeling!

  • beautiful video - thank for loading!!!

  • the version that inspired jeff beck with rod stewart on "truth".....thank you denny

  • 1st pic looks like the cover photo used in Jefferson Airplane's Crown Of Creation LP...

  • @cb3961 I'd say you were dead right.

  • The second slide is that of Hiroshima. The Industrial Exhibition Hall (now known as the A-bomb dome), the domed building still stands just like it is in the picture. It is quite a powerful experience to stand near it and look at it. To show the resilience of man, the square building in the center left is the City Hall. The day after the bomb dropped, the City Council and mayor met to begin relief efforts.

  • Não tem pra ninguém...LOKO!!!!

    Cúem - Bonfá SP Brasil

  • This guy was an AH. He used to steal songs from other artists and copyright them with his name in the US. What a rat!

  • Really brings back memories! Thanks!!

  • A powerful song. Rose has such an emotive voice.

  • Yes they are. I shared them this morning with my wife (who was unaware of Tim Rose). There were a few tears shed, I must say.

  • I owned the album this came from way back in the day. It is hard to describe what hearing it has done but I wanted to thank you for posting this and the "Walk Away Melinda" song also. It is as touching (to me anyway) now as it was then. And, without acid flashbacks and other medicinal aids. Thank you.

  • I am glad it has brought such pleasure to you. Both songs are still as powerful today.

  • @hawkmoon03111951 I am of the same opinion I remember this on JUKE BOX JURY the hairs on the back of my head stood up it was about nuclear fallout surly!!!!.

The panel all voted it a stupid record except a young girl called LULU she gave it FIVE unlike the brommy twit. years later Lulu recorded it and it is very good. I have every version and Tims still stands out as the best. next to.

TIM ROSE DIED RECENTLY AND WHAT A SAD LOSS TO MUSIC THAT IS, HEY JOE IS FANTASTIC .

  • "Ex Bellum Gran Remunitas" -From War Comes Great Reward.....

This Beautiful, disturbing song is more poignant than ever by AD 2010.

Iraq, Afghanistan, -Kindest thoughts to all The Servicemen & Civilians Physically & Psychologically maimed by wars.

  • Wow! Never heard this version before. Incredible!

  • This is on facebook, Graham. great vid :))

  • Listen to the incredible wah wah on Jeff Beck studio version from the truth album

  • No more war.....

  • Great song and a perfect slide show to go with it. Rose does a nice job with this, but he listed himself as co-writer. He collects royalties and according to Bonnie Dobson she alone wrote the song.

  • this version is cool, but Plant'version Live is the best

  • Great song and a great video to go with it.

I know this song, but than it is sung by a woman?

  • It was recorded by the composer, Bonnie Dobson. Perhaps you heard that version. I have also posted a version by Episode Six. Not as good as this but still a good version.

  • @DirkjeA Clannad do a version of this song too.

  • Wow! Fantastyczny kawałek! Great song!
