  • AARP sold out and SUCKS........DO NOT waste your money with them.

  • tredmile, for shrimp

  • Lol "pickle technology."

  • You greedy, lying old fucks are what's wrong with this country. "Benefits I paid for"? The average retiree collects $77,000 more than he paid in. Inflation adjusted, of course.

  • mr hyman!!!!

  • Another reason NOT to join AARP! Research saves old people's lives every day. Just because you are so uneducated that you can't understand the value of science, does not mean it has no value.

This is just another example of America's sickening science illiteracy -- and incredible narcissism. It's tantamount to saying "I don't know how to read or do math, therefore schools are just a waste of money."

  • I thought Snuggie had the funniest commercials until I watched this! Pickle technology! ☺

  • News flash gramps, Obama already siphoned off 500 billion from medicare.

  • This ad is a gross distortion of what Congress is considering. There aren't even cuts for ANYONE under 55 in the Ryan plan. NOT ONE! These wasteful programs being listed are indeed bad, and will be cut. But because Boomer did not have children to support them, huge, cushy benefits from the government are simply not sustainable.

  • We should cut all of those things...and then cut social security and medicare. If politicians want to run a welfare state, let them do it at the state level.

  • So let me get this straight, AARP supports ObamaCare, which slashed $2 trillion from Medicare immediately, but doesn't support the Ryan Medicare plan which specifically has provisions in it so it wouldn't effect the people the AARP allegedly represent.

    No political agenda here.

  • The Ryan Plan doesn't effect the benefits one bit of anyone over 55. Nothing changes for them. Still, the lies and fear tactics worked in the recent NY-26 special election.

  • Where was AARP when Obama and the Democrats were cutting a half billion dollars out of Medicare in passing Obamacare? Oh, that's right, AARP supported that. AARP is nothing but a mouthpiece for the fascist left.

  • @explore1960 You mean communist left? Fascism is rightist.

  • @Raiden7284677 Nationalist socialism. Learn.

  • @explore1960 If I'm thinking the right way, the National Socialists were not leftist. They were WAY anti-leftist.

  • @Raiden7284677 You see, National Socialists hated the left because the name of their party was the national SOCIALIST party. The Nazis hated the left so much point number 13 of the Nazi Party platform supported nationalizing industries. Nazis hated the left so much point number 14 supported profit sharing. Nazis hated the left so much that point number 15 demanded "the expansion of old age welfare." Nazis were so far to the right, they imposed universal healthcare.

    You're a liar.

  • @Raiden7284677 Fascism is on the right? Mussolini, the father of fascism said that the main point of fascism is "Everything within the state, nothing outside the state." While conservatives say "Government is not the solution to the problem, government is the problem."

    You are completely inventing history.

  • @conservativeco No, I'm correct on my assessment. Conservatives and Fascists are both rightists. Conservatives are more to the middle. Fascists are far right. Study the politcal spectrum a little more and you'll see.

  • @Raiden7284677 If fascism is right why was it all about huge government? If fascism is to the right why did Mussolini outrightly support Woodrow Wilson and FDR, to people who conservatives hate? If fascism is so far to the right why was Mussolini a member of the Italian Socialist Party, even edited it's newspaper, advocated and implemented large government while the right hates large government?

  • @Raiden7284677 The only real difference b/w fascism and socialism is internatoinalitism vs. nationalism. Don't take it from me, take it from Hitler in Chapter four of Mein Kampf who said that if National Socialism didn't focus on nationalistic race, " it would really do nothing more than compete with Marxism on its own ground.”

You need to learn about the political spectrum; fascism support the same big gov't policies leftists do whereas conservatives want small gov't, the opposite. Liar.

  • @Raiden7284677 you have no idea what you're talking about fascists are "rightists"? LOL it's obvious you have no idea what Mussolini, Hitler and fascists actually believed

  • No! MY AARP DOES NOT oppose basic research (e.g. NSF) that advances knowledge and leads to better treatments, new cures and a healthier life for me and my family. The shrimp on a treadmill is a deliberate misrepresentation of important scientific research. Medicare/SSI are critical programs but we should be able to protect them on their own merits, not stoop to this waste, fraud and abuse canard.

  • Let me say even if you want to say the Democrats cut Medicare spending, then the question is what did they do with that money. They used that money to insure people's children and give people with pre-existing conditions coverage. What do the Republicans plan to do with the money they save? Give more tax cuts to the rich.

  • Maybe all you AARP supporters should think twice before voting for Obama again in 2012. Obamacare slashed Medicare funding far more than anything else in history..and now you're all whining about a congress trying to put a stop on additional wasteful spending? Vote for Obama again and you can kiss your entire Medicare benfits goodbye...wake up!

  • @MrRudy624 Not one person is receiving less benefits under Obama. His cuts were cutting waste. Quit lying.

  • YAY AARP.

If the GOP has their way, It will be a private Insurance actuary

"Pulling the plug on Grandma" for profit!

    Keep up the pressure!

  • The so called "cut" that President Obama made was to the rip-off called "Medi-Care Advantage" that did nothing but allow private insurance companies to profit from the medi-care program while not providing one iota of enhanced service. The Republican "plan" is what it has always been - privatize everything so that the rich get richer and the middle-class can remain the new working poor. Wake up and please do your own research. You won't get the truth from watching propaganda on tv.

  • We need to improve and expand Medicare to make it Medicare for All and bring an end to control of health care by corporations.

  • You ask why healthcare is a problem now whereas it wasn't in the past? When insurance companies were allowed to become "for-profit" organizations, we were/are doomed. They used to care about giving a fair deal to their customers who were patients. Now their priority is their shareholders. Privatization of basic human needs --- healthcare, education, prisons, etc. -- is a very dangerous thing!

  • Hurray for AARP! The issue over Medicare is about people's lives - not just about the figures on a spreadsheet. Medicare needs to be modified - not wrecked by turning it over to the insurance companies. No need to have my Medicare premiums going to enormous CEO salaries and repetitive TC advertising.

  • Does AARP still make money off of selling gap insurance to seniors? Wasn't this the bribe for supporting Obamacare?

  • If AARP is so concerned about protecting entitlements, why did you champion Obamacare, which cut $500 billion dollars from Medicare?

  • @asmith4238

Wake up! That $500 billion came from massive overpayments and government subsidies to private insurers passed by the GOP Congress during Bush. Not a penny in benefits going into your pocket was cut in Medicare...but you did pick up preventative care, an extra 12 years to the trust fund and closing the part D donut hole. The GOP sold seniors a bill of goods then and are still doing it now.

  • @asmith4238 Once again for the slow people. Not one person is receiving less Medicare benefits under Obama's cuts. He did what Republicans wouldn't, cut the waste because the waste went to republicans donors.. I understand you far rigthies hate the man because he's a Democrat and black but just stop they lying.
