  • Didn't the three little guys end up passing away? =(

  • @ItsukiHatakai Yes, unfortunately, if you visit our website and search their names you find links to their memorial page....

  • Did the domestic cat birth the bobcats?

    I'm confused...

  • @KeetyPooh No she became their surrogate mom, after the bobcat mom was shot by a hunter in Alabama

  • What happened to the Bobbie's tail ?

  • @themetroidprime We're not sure she arrived at the shelter with her short tail, before we adopted her so she could be surrogate mom to the bobcat kittens.

  • Did ever take Bobbie out of the cage or did she just live with them?

  • @EandE12384 Yes we took her out and she was adopted by a great family :)

  • also want a link please...

  • can i have a link too?

  • @bfl111 sent

  • what happened to them? can I have a link

  • @Seismostorm Sent

  • could anyone send me a link that tells what happend to them?

  • @thedivinemoon Just sent the link...

  • thats interesting....these bobcat kittens look alot like my gray and black tabby house cat. The black markings on the head etc.

  • Could I also have the link to their memorial page? I'm really interested in hearing about these Bobcats.

  • @mentallyfat Yes, I will send it to you now...

  • What happened to the poor kittens? Will you send me the link to the memorial page?

  • @Wraffiekins I just sent you the link which explains the whole situation....

  • @BigCatRescue Thank you for that. What a heartbreaking story. Still, your organization did an amazing job with these kittens, and with all the rest of the big cats. Watching all of your videos is incredibly entertaining and also educational. I have learned a lot. I don't know if any of the issues you fight exist in Canada, as I've never heard of such a thing. But thanks to you I know more, and be able to protect exotic cats even up north. c: Keep up the great work!

  • all 3 of the kittens died? why? did they all die from the same thing? thats such a shame, they were beautiful.

  • @Terilyn04 We miss them dearly, I will send you a link to their page which explains the situation in detail..

  • I'm so sorry to hear that they're not still alive. What is the life span of a bobcat ? When exactly did each of them pass away and how ?

  • @cjjulian42 Yes, we all miss them and were very disappointed they did not make it and be released back into the wild where they belong. The life span for a bobcat is 10-12 years in the wild but you can double this in captivity, I will send you the link to their page which describes everything in detail...

  • storm passed away 9/13/2010, when did the other two pass away and was it from the same cause? the page you sent me to was unclear.

  • @ImSoOffended If you follow the links to their memorial pages you will find more info :)

  • WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! At least they are in a better place. :(

  • Was there another part to this? Was there not a video update on how Midnight was doing? I can't seem to find it...

  • @NikiPaprika Unfortunately Midnight passed away :(

  • @BigCatRescue Oh, that's such ashame. I'm really sorry to hear that. :(

Still, in the time they were alive, they were very well cared for. The work you do for these wonderful animals is simply inspiring! Thank you so much for helping these beautiful cats and giving them a better quality of life! :)

  • is the adult domestic cat an outdoor and indoor cat?

  • @sjgpooh13 Yes

  • How did they die?

  • @crimsom757575 Storm the male kitten, passed away on September 13th which we later found out was due to a thickening of the heart wall, which is a congenital heart condition already present at birth.

And then a few months later we lost Rain one of the female kittens on December 17th due to a perforated intestine.

  • How sad...Is Midnight still around or did she pass away as well, since that one comment was 5 months ago..

  • @meaganfarr2 Unfortunately all three kittens have passed away :(

  • @BigCatRescue Aw...I was hoping at least 1 survived...that's just sad...hopefully they get to run wild in the other life ^^

  • Never thought even a domestic cat could be released in the wild!

  • they all have short tails ^^

  • can anyone name an animal more loving than a cat of any kind? in my opinion cats of all kinds are the most loving creatures on the planet.

  • @niteholler dogs?

  • What makes a cat so cute and fun to watch? I love them!

  • These animals are so beautiful. I love them.

  • why did you carry the domestic cat in a cage it wont do anything?

  • @ivesour It's called a crate. Crate training is very important, especially with dogs. I can't say the same for cats though as I don't know much about them.

  • @ivesour What?! one of my old cats from years ago snuck into my dad's van and I had to go pick it up without a cage. It jumped on the back of my headrest and suck it's claws into my scalp, while I was driving because it was so scared. Cages help them calm down after awhile and keep them from hurting or getting hurt.

  • RIP Kittens!

  • How come Rain and Storm passed away? :(

  • @MissILoveGreenALot We have a video update coming this week, Storm the male kitten, passed away on September 13th which we later found out was due to a thickening of the heart wall, which is a congenital heart condition already present at birth.

And then a few months later we lost Rain one of the female kittens on December 17th due to a perforated intestine.

  • @BigCatRescue

I'm so sorry, it must be hard letting all these cats go. But at least you know you provide them with a good home as long as they will live...

  • @BigCatRescue Thats so sad! They are such lovely kittens!

  • @BigCatRescue I thought they had parvo.....?

  • Do you still have them?

  • @CritterKeeper123 We still have Midnight, unfortunately Rain and Storm passed away :(

  • Why is there a regular cat at the begining ?

  • @MiopTop Bobbi the domestic cat was surrogate mom to the three bobcat kittens :)

  • To the people complaning about live animals being fed to the bobcats; perhaps we should feed the bobcats with you guys, instead of the rats.

  • I was about to say that, if they are going to be released back into the wild, they shouldn't be fed dead animals; and am no animal expert but they looked confused with those live rats moving unlike the last video where they were fed dead mice.

  • 3:40 this resembles the palmer's reflex in human developmental neurology. The jaws are used for clenching instead of a grasp. Fascinating. Great footage.

  • Hi. Replacing the environment with one of greater stability then boxes brings out roughness, and their brute natures, where as the fragility of the boxes makes them more cautious with environmental factors.

  • exotics always start out cute and cuddely

  • the mouse part would be cruel if it wasn't pure nature at work, nature must be respected and not tampered with, i'm sure u guys are right teaching the cats to actually catch their food, i want to thank u guys for taking care of those adorable ruthless killers =] lol

  • An update please

  • @Mrmys1900 We will try and get one made soon :)

  • @BigCatRescue It's a real nice job your team, yourself and Bobbi the kitteh did there =) Do you mind giving some updates ? How big they are, is bobbi still with them, going back to the wild... ? Thanks

  • @LatOoche Hi we are going to be making a rehab bobcat video update soon, keep watching! :)

  • I know these bobcats need to learn how to hunt, what I mean is that these rats didn't have a chance to save their lifes, and that problem was easy to solve allowing those rats to escape from them.

Anyway, like I said, I like what BCR is doing, and if I was from anywere near Tampa (to begin with, I'm spaniard), I would ask BCR for a job. No doubt about that.

  • I like your work, guys, but I don't like what you did with those rats. They were completely vulnerable, so they couldn't do anything to save their lifes. That was cruel.

  • @MaxEverrede

Harsh but necessary, Big Cat Rescue plans to release them back in to the wild when they are ready and that can't happen until they learn to kill live pray. It might have been cruel but that’s the way nature works unfortunately.

  • you guys are awesome for what ur doing! :D

  • I felt bad for the rats, But hey, Kitties gota eat right? :D

  • about how old are they now? and are they ever going to be able to go into the wild?

  • @tech4lifeproductions Hi, they're around 6 months old now, our plan is to release them back into the wild :)

  • what happend to the mommy cats kittens?

  • @Teddie120 They were adopted by a long time Big Cat Rescue volunteer :)

  • awww there so cute i LOVE ANIMALS :D

  • hmm mice...they didn't look interested in eating them though acted more like a new toy then a food source I hope they did finally eat them

  • Why the mother's tail is cut?

  • @Gabyro98 We're not sure Bobbi was adopted from a shelter? :)

  • @BigCatRescue ok!thanks!LOVE YOUR VIDEOS!LOVE BIG CATS!

  • lol I want to pick up the baby Bobcats!!!

  • I dawwww'd

  • I know you are trying to save the animals, which is critical but to put live animals in there for them to be killed is wrong and cruel in my view. Other zoos have managed to feed animals killed more humane ways, are fed successfully to animals and teach them to hunt too. Those poor animals had no chance. Its totally cruel.

  • @MegaSkya These bobcat kittens are being prepared for release in the wild. It would be cruel to release them without any practice hunting. It is critical that they learn to hunt actual prey and not merely toys so that they understand how to feed themselves without human interaction.

  • @MegaSkya The cats will be released into the wild -- they need to learn how to hunt to provide for themselves!

  • near where i live they have a Tigers for Tomorrow compound and u can go c them it's like a zoo i luv that place :)

  • I wonder, are ever too rough with their house cat mommy?

  • @Yaalah No, they know their place :)

  • Domestic catmom Bobbi showed them how to catch the rats =)

  • do you guys team up with other animal rescues? we have one here in ohio called NoahsLostArk.they have big cats and not so big cats plus other rescued animals.i just wondered cause i think it would be great if places like yours teamed up.

  • @marierotar We help out wherever we can :)

  • WHERE IS HOTT STUFF SCOTT?

  • @tigrrrlily27 Scott doesn't work at BCR any longer, keep an eye out for him on TV!!

  • My kitten eating a lizard today seams a little less disgusting & a little more natural after bobcat kittens eating mice.

  • @Icynow25 Only for another week or two then they'll be on their own :)

  • how long will Bobbi stay in there with them?

  • Aww cute, love bob cats. But then again, i love all cats.

  • I don't think it's cruel at all. The cats have to learn.

  • see how cute they are? and they belong in the WILD or even a ZOO not someones BACKYARD!

  • @nickigw94

This is not someone's back yard. This place is a sanctuary.

  • @sinical10 i know

i know all about big cat rescue

im saying that they dont belong in backyards

because people own them as pets

  • @nickigw94 Luckily these cats should be able to be sent back to the wild when they're old enough. Big cats rescue has no choice but the keep the bigger cats that were previously owned by humans. But kittens like these guys were, whose eyes hadn't yet opened can be rehabilitated and sent out into the wild where they belong.

I agree with you, these animals among countless others do not belong in captivity.

  • @Sexychicofdoom yea

its great how people can rehabilitate the animals to go back into the wild

its sad about the cats that will have to stay in a zoo forever, but at least its a really great one! =]

  • Man this just makes me happy! >: )

  • @Bloodstar9900 Thanks for watching our videos, don't worry the public don't get to see the kittens anyways they are in a secluded part of the sanctuary away from people (and their voices) so they remain as wild as possible :)

  • Thank you for taking care of the Bobcat babies

  • I found it comical when they where hunting the rats. I have seen my cat Lucky hunt mice. And it was very similar on how they did it. Lucky tosses them up and chases it all around. I hope they get better and soon hunt bigger more yummy prey as Rats are just a small bite to eat.

  • Good to show peaple that they are wild animals and not just cute cats .

Very nice video and Bobbi is so clever :)

  • Ah that's so cool to see them progressing that well. I love these cats

  • Love watching your videos! Keep up the amazing and hard work you guys do.

PS. The song in the video is also used in Foodwishes' videos- what a small world...

  • since the were raised with a domestic cat dose this mean they wont prey on them if they come across one in the wild ?

  • @caper900 I dont think BCR will let Bobbi stay with them forever.

  • @ridingisasport no no i know they wont let her stay with them i just mean like if they see a house cat out doors they wont view it as prey insted as freind :)

  • Aww Cute Kittens, Aww cute mice. OMIGAWD NOOOOOOO! not the mice....

  • @esosa233 I mean what has the mice done to them other than be satisfying

  • What happend to the cats tail? Hungry kitten ^_^ ?

  • @KesoXorganoff We're unsure, Bobbi was in an animal shelter when we adopted her to be surrogate mum to the kittens, it's quite fitting that she has a short "bob" tail like the kittens also :)

  • You guys do awesome work and such and I love your videos, but it seemed quite harsh for the rats though.. They're leaving creatures as well.

  • @Leezzyy So what do you suggest carnivorous animals are supposed to do then?

  • @Leezzyy

The plan is to release the bobcats into their natural habitat and for them to survive in the wild they need to be used to killing their own food.

  • IS Bobbi going to be adopted by staff at BCR like her kittens? Will the same staffer who took the kittins take her?

  • @Lifeflame5 We're actually trying to find a forever home for Bobbi, we are fully stocked with domestic rescues at BCR as well :) and want Bobbi to have a permanent home to go to.

  • @BigCatRescue She's a damn good kitty mom though.

  • its so interesting to work (play, study...) and live with animals!

  • This is pretty tight... but one thought comes to my mind:

How are you teaching these gatos how to become predators by laying mice in front of them? It seems like they're playing with them, instead of making a kill... which serves the purpose of "dinner".

I understand they're captive... and they're cute as hell. I have two cats that are much more viscious with their prey than this...

Ps... I love the piano in the background.

  • @kzolotar Hi, this is their first encounter with other live animals, so we had to make it extremely easy, using full grown rats would have scared them, plus later in their rehab we will feed them full grown live rats. We use a tube system placing the rats in the tube 30 ft or so away from the actual enclosure and the rats pop up in different areas so the cats learn to hunt this way :)

  • Are you going to release the bobcats back into wild? or keep them at the rescue?

  • @kiara282 We'll be releasing them into the wild where they belong! :)

  • I can understand the temptation to have a bobcat kitten as a pet. They're way too cute. It's not right to keep one as such, but I can understand why someone would think it a good idea. Unfortunately kittens grow into adults and, as the predation part shows, these kittens have all their wild instincts. How much longer will Bobbi stay with them?

  • @CyberViking27 Yep exactly they're cute but very much wild! Bobbi will remain with the kittens for another week or two, then they will be living on their own :)

  • That's what my cat does with bugs

  • 1:10 Haha, the bobcat stretching out and shaking her legs! Great footage there.

Nice music, too. It's good to see the bobcats at this turning point in their development. Excellent work, BCR! :D

  • hey Chris, are you ever going to do your video about lions?

  • @Chilldogg Hey, yep we still want to do it, just so many other videos to make before! :) Are we still OK to use your wild lion footage?? Thanks!

  • @BigCatRescue you're always welcome to use our lion footage. we we're just curious and don't want to miss your lion video. : ) thanks!

  • The natural coloration of the bobcat is perfect camoflage in the environment.. Amazing!

  • I love that the surrogate momma cat has a bobtail!

  • aww the poor rats have no idea whats going on!

  • Sure is great to see!

  • they are so adorable! ^_^

  • i can totally see why people would try to use baby bob cats for domestic pets.........some people eh

  • I love his accent. "Kit-tens." hehe. :)

  • @kimchidressagemama Thanks! :)

  • So have any of your cats ever been released back into the wild, or do they stay at Big Cat Rescue permanently?

  • @Mizabella1234 Just the wild bobcats we rehab and release back into the wild, captive bred wild cats are very very rarely released into the wild. Our cats are not suitable.

  • @BigCatRescue oh okay. Thats awesome. I think it would be so fun to work with these animals, but they seem so dangerous and intimidating.

  • Aww they are getting so big.

  • awwww <3<3<3 so cute

  • Finally some good news~ It's been a while since we last saw them, they seem to have grown a bit bigger again. Aha he tried to climb the cage, it was so cute!! I don't find it more disturbing to see them kill the prey than to see them eat the raw meat like last time lol.

  • @Ido013 It's good that the live prey didn't effect you that much, it's cruel but needs to be done :)

  • @BigCatRescue What?? It's never cruel, it only natural~

  • couldn't you have gave them grown rats not babies since their defencless....

  • @CocoandVelvet 1. Those were grown rats.

    2. Most predatory animals that hunt larger prey, like the antelope or zebra, will often pick the weakest, defenseless one out of them all.

    It's nature.

  • @NikiPaprika Im almost positive that they were babies growing into young adults (since i've breed and raised rats)

I know that animals will pick the weakest aka survival of the fitess but these rats (judging from their markings and curiosity) were breed to be pets not food. Im not an idiot.

  • @CocoandVelvet they look like black berkshires and black hoods, those are pretty common markings for feeders. and yes, they look like very young rats

  • @RachelsRants There called fancy hooded and yes any rat can be used for feeding but from the rats ive experienced the fancies are one of the nicest ( compared to the dumbos.. but just my experience

  • @CocoandVelvet all feeders are fancy rats. the rats bred to be food and the rats bred to be pets are the exact same thing. its a bit sad but other animals have to eat and have some mental stimulation too. i feed my rats live food from time to time to keep them from getting too bored with cage life

  • @CocoandVelvet Unfortunately there's really no difference in the breeding trade for rats between pet and feeder. Feeders have the same variety of markings, though you'll see more albinos in the feeder bin then elsewhere.

  • @jag305 Actually there are fancies, hooded (what the rats are in the video), dumbos, hairless, rex etc. but because they are "just" rats all are used for feeders.

  • @CocoandVelvet Um ya. What exactly is the difference between what you said and what I said...?

  • @CocoandVelvet "were breed to be pets not food. Im not an idiot."

Actually, it makes more sense for them to let them eat domestic rats, since wild rats can carry many diseases and actually attack back. It may seem "ashame" to others that they use pet rats for the kittens food, but it's so they can get used to hunting their own prey without getting hurt and/or getting a disease.

Plus, they ARE in captivity. It's not like ALL their natural prey just HAPPEN to be in one spot for them.

  • @NikiPaprika you actually think i meant give them wild rats..... ok then..

  • @NikiPaprika Those were baby-to-adolescent rats. They did not look adult, and if they had been they would have ran, not stumbled around like toddlers.

  • @mccuresr They're domesticated rats, which is why they probably didn't run. They are perfectly capable of doing so, but they felt no need. I've seen adolescent rats run around like crazy. If they were wild, they'd be more inclined to do so.

And even if they were baby to adolescent, my point from earlier remains.

  • @NikiPaprika No they actually run fall over stumble and run. they cannot run away as well as adults. I know from experience.

  • these bobcat kittens are so cute, Bobbi kinda taught them how to catch them. Good one bobbi

  • they r just darling ! my lily has a tail like that she was born that way i know the babies have 2 eat but those little rats r not scared of them

  • They're so cute! Like my cats but skinny. :P

  • It can be difficult to watch the "live predation", but without people/experts like yourselves allowing them to grow and mature in as natural a setting as possible...they might not make it in the wild.

Good work, as always! Thumbs up!

  • Rain? That is such a cute name!

  • I wish I lived in Florida so I could work there!!
