Valero was actually the backup plan for late 2010 instead of Margarito in case Mayweather didnt want to fight because it was in Valero's contract that he fight Pacquiao within 3 years of signing with Top Rank. Once Valero found out he was next on the Pacman's hitlist he ended his life before the Pacman could. FACT.

Valero v Pacquiao would have been an action packed fight as they both had similar styles (both lefties, both punchers, both around 168 cm), but I believe it is contrasting styles that make intriguing fignts (i.e Pac v Mayweather). Just for the record, Pac v Val would not have lasted long (KO in the third or v latest fourth round). Pac would have had way too much foot speed, variety, ring generalship & even hand speed for Valero. But who know Val may have won if he was able to land a freaky shot.

Valero had skill. He could punch with the best, and on a good day could have possibly beat Pacquiao in a slug war.He was crafty and powerful , but he was coming into his peak at the time of his troubles that ultimately lead to his death. Pacquiao had better ring generalship skills which helps in those slug wars.They were both simlar in height and around the same natural weight. Great fight that will never happen.
