Nah the GT3 is RWD and it's aero is setup for a track. On the autobahn you can cruise at 170 mph easily in an unlimited E55. The main difference between the two cars is a huge weight factor. Nearly 1k lbs of weight difference and only 44 hp difference.

There isn't a new 911 range, there is a MK2 revision (or series 2) to the existing range on C2/C4 models, the most recent being the MK2 GT3 with a number of revisions not least an increase in engine size from 3.6L to 3.8L. The car in this video is a 997 GT3 RS series 1 and the revised MK2 RS is yet to be announced though is due out this year sometime. The 998 (if that is what Porsche call it, yet to be confirmed) is not likely to show until 2011 I believe and specs are conjecture.

Not sure why everyone keeps saying that the GT3 RS is "so much faster" and "a supercar." It's got a modest 415 hp/300 ft lbs of torque. The E55 is a heavier car, true, but it's also got 61 more horsepower and 216 more ft lbs of torque...the GT3 RS isn't an engine monster, it's a handling car.

If they really wanted a land slide they'd put the 911 Turbo in there instead, it's more of a straight line car.

The benz is just shy of 1000 pounds heavier than that GT3 RS. The torque isn't going to help much on a high speed race like this, after 70-90mph its all horsepower. Your gonna need a lot more hp to get a 4000pound E55 cutting the air vs a 3000pound GT3.
