Johnny Mathis...the first time I heard his voice - when I was a little girl - I knew he was something very special. He has the most beautiful vibratto I've ever heard.
Just saw Johnny Mathis on Saturday (Aug 20, 2011) as he sang with the Dallas Symphony Orchestra (DSO). Mathis was amazing. His voice has not changed a bit over the years. I loved that he has never let his age limit him. He truly espouses the positiveness through his attitude and music. What a wonderful gift he has been for all of us.
In the late 80's I sent a letter thru the fan club. I was in my mid 30's. He had been a part of my heart since age 12. At the time i wrote the letter it was routine to call home to check on my younger daughter. She said mommy you got a letter from Johnny Mathis. I assumed it was the usual mailing from the fan club. She said no , it's in a regular envelope it's a real letter. I asked her to open it, and he had responded to my letter with such sweet and humble words. A dear precious memory.
