  • Is that Goose's motorcycle from Mad Max?

  • Feels like it was yesterday.

  • Check the old "walk" button on the pole for a bit of nostalgia at 2:07. It's nice to be reminded of the world before the loonies ran the asylum. There once was a time when bands actually wrote good songs and didn't cover their lack of talent with tattoos, body piercings and attention seeking poor behaviour.

  • Awesome My favourite Chrissyy Amphlett

  • Love that

  • It seems like most early 80's videos were filmed in grungy warehouses.

  • 4got about this band they were cool a little edgy.i think we should 4get about the new shitty music that is out now and go back in time to this era.i will.

  • Forgive me if this has already been highlighted, but this track did in fact initially appear on the amazing 'Desperate' album, but not on the US version, which was made up of tracks from both 'Desperate' and 'Monkey Grip' albums. Casual Encounter appeared on the US edition of 'What A Life'. Annoyingly, it fades on the US 'What A Life' also, which is where I suspect you re-dubbed the audio from. Happy to provide you with a the complete audio in equally good quality NZOZ.

  • The audio is very crisp .... I have a bit of a connection to the Divinyls ... Mark McEntee used to play in a band that my mate played in .... I saw this band many times down in the Rocks, Sydney. I remember when they split up and Mark went off to start the Divinyls ... this was way back in the early 80's. Mark McEntee was always a brilliant guitarist and I was so lucky to see him playing with another band.

  • Never heard this one ... great! The audio is absolutely fan-f***ing-tastic

  • @trampismat thanks... i worked on it before a holiday in egypt. the song was stuck in my head during my holiday there.

  • You are amazing, Chrissy. I love you, so much.

  • Chrissy Amplette has been diagnosed with breast cancer. Please give support to her and family during this tough times.

  • @nzoz1982 I thought that she has MS???

  • @DancesWithJoy Her MS condition was announced a couple of years ago. Now she has breast cancer on top of it.

  • @nzoz1983 Thank you for clarifying that. That poor woman. Two horrible diseases! I will keep her in my prayers. Is there a place to send emails to let her know that her fans care and are with her?? I know that when Dio was sick Wendy set up something like that. Peace

  • @DancesWithJoy Best place to go is her Facebook... she uses it as a means of communicating with her fans. I know of no other place.

  • @DancesWithJoy and now breast cancer on top of that...

  • @nzoz1982 As you pointed out elsewhere She has the all clear on the dreaded C... :) :)

  • I was at this at 13! So much fun :)

  • wow wonderful mark geez man u rock dude

  • Brilliant song. thanks for up-loading the clip. Loved the Divinyls especially in the early days. Never seen this clip before.

  • Divinyls is deadly ino its old bu i wonder y its never on d radio or any cds around

  • One of my favourite Divinyls songs, underrated!!!!!!!!!!

  • is she bi? i sort of secretly hope so

  • Awesome song. Such a great band. The best thing about the divinyls is that they pulled all these songs off perfectly live. Check out the live version of 'Elsie' . It spins me out everytime i watch it.

  • hay me mata es una diosa :)

  • Wonder how old Chrissy was here?, she really looks like a bad schoolgirl. Great song, can relate to the lyrics

  • She was 24 years old She was born in 1959

  • She has said she lied about her age, says she no longer her real age and not born in 1959

  • How old is she then? Now I understand why she looks older than she said she was.

  • She is not 24 in this video! If you read her back and relate the passages in time as well as her age during certain chapters, you'll come to realise that she was no spring-chicken when she formed the band.

She was jailed in Spain at age 18 and the soundtrack of the time was some Santana song. My guess is that she was 18 in 1973.

She is not 24 in this clip... she has to be 28! God she's hot!!!

  • @nzoz1983 , I guess you're right. Because she does look at least 30 in "Pleasure in Pain" (1985), two years later.

  • @petejt

yeah, i'm pretty sure she was well in her late 20's here... seems to have more clues about life than the average 24 year old...

  • @nzoz1983 She is currently 50

  • She says she does not remember the actual date, but denied the information of where it says wikipledia born in 1959

  • She doesn't remember when she was born? haha why doesn't she ask his mum who is still alive?

  • Chrissie is very special, she always sees the future, maybe ask your mother and she is not very important. For me it would be interesting to know his age but curious about what matters in the end she is here and now with all those who love

  • Casual encounters flesh against flesh,

casual you stroke me , i stoke you

    fresh meat.

    nightmares that walk back streets

    fresh on fresh,

    leaves only an emptiness

The heart hungers for something else,.

    and not just blood and done;

it hungers for the dark, silence

    midnight back way one silence.

  • Love this track...... great sound... :)

  • I'm guessing you put the Desperate cover up because in 1983 it was track 3, side one on the original pressing of that album.

  • I did it because I didn't do my research properly... I only know that this song made it on the 1985 'What A Life' album... did the song also appear on some version of 'Desperate'?

  • Yeah, track 3 side 1 of Desperate (doesn't fade out either) Here's the original Australian Desperate tracklisting - A1 Make You Happy A2 Science Fiction A3 Casual Encounter A4 Victoria A5 Siren B1 Motion B2 Ring Me Up B3 Take A Chance B4 Sahara Rock B5 Don't You Go Walking
  • ...and the original Australian What A Life tracklisting - A1 Pleasure & Pain A2 Sleeping Beauty A3 Good Die Young A4 Guilotine Day A5 Talk Like The Rain A6 Heart Telegraph B1 Old Radios B2 In My Life B3 Para-Dice B4 What A Life B5 Dear Diary
  • I have the US versions of both and would LOVE to have the Oz versions! Gone to eBay...back in a bit.

  • That's where I got mine from a couple of years ago, both near mint (plus a near mint vinyl copy of Monkey Grip).

  • @maffjon The two infamously mysterious "Hidden Masters" will be released 3 months apart beginning in October of this year. My sister-in-law is an entertainment attorney for the record company and gave me the scoop because of my interest; 1) Shadows Form Right... Not Left; Side 1; Mirabelle, Closer Than You Think, I Was Made, Guess I Could Have Known You, Hell When You're Gone, Too Much. Side 2; Schism, I Won't Cry, Night Girls, Look At You, I Touch Myself (Remix). Continued.

  • @maffjon 2) Night Life; Side 1) I Can't Stand It, Just Because, (Don't Make Me Your) Lost Cause, Kooky Shuffle, Bitter. Side 2; Dreams In Your Eyes, Something About It, Crash, I'm By Your Side (Remix), Give Me All (As I Give You).

  • This is probably one of the better Countdown "live" vids. Thanks nzoz

  • Ive only recently got hooked on Divinyls. This is a great close-encounter/sensual song!!!!

  • TOO COOL!!!!

  • Some music doesn't age too well... luckily Divinyls are still great to listen to!

    Thanks for posting.

  • Very good.
