The original signer was a man called Kyu Sakamoto back in the ealy '60s. A groupd called A Taste Of Honey had a take at it in the '70s.

It's called "Sukiyaki" and A taste of Honey did an english version of it which I personally think is better than this due to the fact it is so much more sensual. The original I think was by a japanese bloke.
