  • i miss adam's dreads. hah. rad song.

  • Man, to hear this sound at college changes someone's life... for ever and for good.

  • @dbug18 I concur!

  • the early 90's was unbelievable for shows in SF. MBV at slims and warfield. Nirvana at the C&W, Ibeam and Cow Palace. Jellyfish.

  • Ooh Yeah!..that feels good!!

  • shit RULES! 90'S OWN!

  • Beautiful song, brings back memories of when music was good, o and i was young.

    LONG LIVE THE MIGHTY SWERVE

  • TURN IT UP!

  • This song gives me chills..very emotive. Can get lost in this..

  • Love this band - they have an individual sound - I love 50s/60s/70s music myself but some of these early 90s bands were brilliant - this lot/Kitchens of Distinction/Cud are three that come to mind - shame Oasis came along and everything went retro.

  • You can blame Oasis for what it spawned (as you can blame Nirvana) but it was still a great band. Morning Glory is a nearly perfect album.

  • A shame! Oasis put a breath of fresh air into rock n roll music! It's great that they came along and added more great rock n roll albums to music.

  • Good point matey -

they're a good band but the point is -

1994 - the biggest band were a Beatles copy. 1964 - the biggest band was the Beatles. I'm not even a big fan of the Beatles but at least it was something new and I'd like to think the bands I mentioned were doing something new.

  • The whole idea of them being a copy was spun up by the media, and yeah maybe the dates matched up but it wasn't like they were trying to do that. They didn't even plan on becoming big. Noel thought that the song he wrote were just going to be heard to a few people, and not millions. Just look at the songwriting, only few songs match The Beatles.

  • Don't know about the media copy thing.

The whole idea of the band was based around a Beatles song - Rain (they were even called this before Oasis)

  • True, but again they never knew they would become huge.

  • @NeilThompson30 Come on man enough is enough.... The Beatles weren't strictly innovative either. They took a lot from American country, they took a lot from the Everly Brothers, they took a lot from Carl Perkins, then they took a lot from the Beach Boys, and then San Fran psych, and from the Blues revival/innovators whatever you want to call them like Clapton. Page, Hendrix, etc. What made the Beatles innovative, what made them bigger than any of their influences, was (to be continued)

  • @koolami268 - as I said - i don't particularly like the Beatles - I know all about the Carl Perkins teaching George everything he knew - I'm a big fan of 50s rockabilly/blues/country etc. I never said the Beatles were innovative.

I can't see the connection between Swervedriver and Oasis to be honest - it's easy to see where Oasis got their sound from but who did Swervedriver sound like?

  • @NeilThompson30 ... that they synthesized all of their stylistic influences with great songwriting and great recording and by doing so made all of those sounds feel universally relevant to their generation. Oasis and Swervedriver and Sonic Youth and Dinosaur Jr. and My Bloody Valentine, and bunches more late eighties/early nineties bands did the very same type of thing, just with different influences, different culture, and different sounds. give credit where its due.

  • check my jbtv audio version of this video...

  • I'm so glad I was in college when this came out, saw them at the Cattle Club in Sacramento a few times. Not to sound too much like my Dad, but, college rock in the late 80's through the mid 90's is soooo much better than what the kids are hearing today. Been lucky enough tho catch some of the crucial reunions the past few years (Dinosaur Jr., Swervedriver, MBV, Pixies - not to mention Van Halen). If only the Sundays and Cocteau Twins would reunite, then I could die.....

  • There's some incredible bands out today, but the problem is sifting through 10 million to find "the one." During the late eighties-mid nineties as long as you strayed away from the top 40, you were into some super creative and never done before type music.

  • Holy crap. I was at that show at the CC, too. You are absolutely right about college rock being better back then. It seemed like music was more about heart, and less about being a commodity. And meeting people who liked the same music you did was monumental - like you weren't alone in the universe. There are some great bands today, but mostly they play-out like a million flavors of the week(s) - nothing really to grab hold of and poof!, they're gone. Pavement needs to re-unite, toot'sweet.

  • I hate you!

    when will they play again!

    keep me informed!

    @sshole

  • i was at every one of swervedrivers shows at the cattle club...

  • @yomomsboyfriend man i hate you haha im 17 turning 18 in a few months and i hate my generation. my bloody valentine and slowdive are huge inspirations of mine. cocteau twins almost reunited but elizabeth frasered punked out at the last minute and this was in 2007

  • @yomomsboyfriend I don't know about the cocteau twins but you've named most of my favorite bands from that time. I'm 36 and hate most of what comes out today. I got to see Dinosaur jr 2 years ago at a skate park in tampa. They played all Bug and Green Mind. It was a dream. As for swervedriver, in my opinion they were the best band of the 90's. Creative, amazing squealing guitar, just came out in the wrong year or two. For newer shit, check out BRMC and TV on the Radio

  • @25freakboy I suggest checking our Cocteau Twins, without them I don't think bands like My Bloody Valentine and Slowdive would exist

  • I'm gutted this band past me by the first time. Loved Ride and MBV but somehow this band never made it on to the radar.

Oh well better late then never!

  • Hi do you listen to loop the cranes etc hope they hevent passed you too good bands also!

  • Hi, they have passed me by but thanks for the recommendations. I will check their music out in the new year!

  • i saw them opening for MBV in London, '91. very enjoyable set. Then i saw them again in Canada in '92 or so, and they'd just lost their reg drummer mid-tour, and had a roadie or someone filling in on the kit. It was painful to watch; the guy couldn't play the tunes inside and out, and made hella errors...

  • Wow that concert in 91 sounds like quite possibly the best thing ever

  • Adam is very nice too. I went to the MM show and he was very kind to me even though I was a drunk.

  • Too bad that Tower Records in Austin has been replaced with a bookstore called intellectual property. Fuck that. This is an ode to the record store and to a great band, Swervedriver.

  • I agree...Tower Records was an icon of music. Terrible what happened to them to replaced by Walmart. Blak!

  • Im speechless....

  • I just don't get tired of this song...

  • Saw these guys about 15 years ago, cant wait to see them again!

  • I have searched for this song for about 15 years. Heard it once loved it. didnt know who sung it or the name of the song. Oh the relief to hear it again. I feel complete now thank you.

  • SO lucky... =(

  • I was on holiday in Thailand, and i met their drummer Graham, who is a Great bloke, GREAT Band

  • Graham is/was in Thailand. Graham is such a nice guy. Partier too...or maybe not so much now. If you have information on how I can contact him. We have both have a mutual friend...

  • fuck i wish i was there! amazing. come to adelaide on your tour

  • can't wait to see you soon SWD!

  • putain si je pouvez avoir l'intégralité de ce concert !!! Quel groupe !!!!

  • the real sci-flyer...

  • Um.......AMAZING!

  • Fucking yes!!

  • That was sweet!

  • WOW! Even though the audio and video aren't the greatest, The still blow me away!

    Awesome.

  • yep, such an Arena Band , but the u.s. is too late to bask in the awesome light that was SD.. so sad=P

  • sweet!!! the best!!!!!

  • It's been said before, but these guys should have broke it in the mainstream. I love Adam's approach to guitar playing. Huge inspiration to me.

  • nice!!!

  • awesome!
