@DonLduk It's n.m of torque. Todays WRcar's are so torquey that they barely have to rev. They sound like the drive is going for a nice country stroll than a real race car.
He killed a policeman and then the policeman's family mourned over his death and died as well, one by one the neighbors started passing away. All in all, there's 23 lives lost.
OK I'm convinced. But the Carisma is an actual Mistubishi car. It was sold in the European market. I just thought that is was the actual car rather than a rebadged Lancer Evo.
Actually in 2000 Loix drove S2 TMR which was a former Makinen car in 1999. When Mitsubishi launched the Lancer WRC his team mate Loix drove Y4 MMR which was a test car. Makinen however drove Y5, Y7, and Y9 MMR.
Mitsubishi were given permission to make the Evo 6.5 to WRCar specs. It was still a Group A car but had WRCar enhancements. Until the FIA forced them to develop a WRCar based on the Evo VII. Tommi said he liked Mitsubishi but it was time for him to move on.
It's not that fast, the maximum average stage speed should be less than 130km/h according to FIA rules and tarmac rallies are slower than gravel or snow ones(some time ago P. Solberg exceeded this limit in Finland and the stage was excluded from the next year's rally). Thus I think it's about 100km/h. And yeah the grip and handling is incredible, but none of us could even keep the tyres up to the temperature :-)
You speak as if you drive like "this" on your way to work everyday. Yeah it probly is 60-75mph. To drive like "this" on roads like that with limited familiarity takes some remarkable talent. And you don't go straight to this from RBR PC.
ps F1 cars only have high grip when they are really flying, its all aerodynamics! an f1 car would be left following the rally cars tyre marks doing about 30! rally cars rely more on 4WD, limited slip differentials and such like for their astonishing grip levels.
im sorry, but not even a F1 can get that level of grip, let alone on a dusty and unpredictable road. i think your giving makkinen far too much credit on this. cars simply do not go that fast, and you'd be a fool to believe they did.
if it was sped up the gear changing & steering movements would be rapid, the best drivers were always the most relaxed behind the wheel like this! what mcrae onboard rally gb 2001, also the smaller the screen the quicker it looks,
Are you having a laugh, he's not going that fas. It's a tarmac rally so he'll probably averagee averaging 100 - 120 kph (about 60-75mph).
The straights dont seem that fast. (Watch Group B onboard for fast)
The only reason I can see for you talking about 'sped up corners' are the hairpins, they seem to go round so fast not becuase of grip, but because he's on the fucking handbrake.
Also, the codrivers voice is not sped up (pitch is normal) and he seems to be giving notes at an average rate.
how is this sped up!!??, look at the gear changes, & steering, as for grip= the best tyres in the world, & the co driver,s head bobs about due to the tightness of the cars set up , & mr makinen, is driven!!, true & simple FACT,, sped up ha ha ha,,
It looks perfectly normal to me and i watch a lot of rallying coverage, the majority of which is shot using on-board footage. the grip level looks normal, the cornering speeds look normal, the speed at which the co-driver turns his page over looks normal. perhaps you have a problem with your computer?
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
why has it been sped up? the co driver bobs around far too fast and flips his pages like lightning! not forgetting the seemingly impossible levels of grip when going round the corners
I think parking cars by the side is dangerous but not more dangerous as hitting the rocks and cliffs by the side of the road. Cars or no cars, its still dangerous. Rally drivers are a skilled lot with daredevil instincts
Dude It's rally and yes its dangerous. Dont be a whiner. Its the last real motorsport without all the bullshit we see in formula 1 and nascar or motogp wsbk for that matter. Well wsbk is really good atm
the group a lancer was at the end of its development hence very fast. the wrc cars at that time were all in early stages and had not developed speed. When mitsubishi built a wrc car they went to the back of the line in terms of development time. Gilles Panizi was the quickest tarmac driver in the world when he was in the lancer wrc car, but was not competitive. Toni G was also quick on gravel but did not win. They pulled out cause it was costing too much, not because they didnt have the talent.
the view from a in car camera usually make everything looks slower... this is really really really fast in real life... go compare a normal B-road driving video
It's kinda funny how sometimes the co-driver indicates very long turns using "pirun pitkä" which means "damn long." Great driving, a waste that he doesn't drive anymore!
Why do you think that? I don't see what you could mean in the message I wrote like 6 months ago:

The Carismas were really Evo's. The teammate always got older Makinen cars. They would then rebadge them as Carsima's instead of Evo's.

No man, the Carsima is a totally different car from the Lancer. They were both campaigned as rally cars by Ralliart in this season.
