For the longest time I called this vehicle an imperial walker. In Empire they say 'spotted imperial walkers' (it was even said in the arcade game) Now there is so much Star Wars shit made up I cannot keep track of it.
"AT-AT" is the correct pronunciation. Not A...T...A...T
Calling it ATEEE-ATEEE would be like calling Boba Fett "B...O...B...A"
Spelling words out that do not have periods between each letter is ludicrous. Did we call the Speilberg's 2001 movie Artificial Intelligence "A...I..." or "Aye!"
We called it A.I. because of the periods. This isn't some rap star's anthem where we spell words out, such as "This is S to the N to the double O and P rapping for the honeys!"
It's commonly known as AYE TEE AYE TEE today, but originally it was known strictly as AT-AT. I still call them AT-AT's, most of the fans I know call them AT-AT's. Even Lucas himself calls them AT-AT's (reference the documentary FROM STAR WARS TO JEDI: THE MAKING OF A SAGA). As far as comparing it to calling the FBI "fiby", well GP vehicles are better known as "Jeeps" and HMV's are commonly known as "humvee's". Therefore, calling an aye tee aye tee an "At-At" is quite common and commonly accepted
My girlfriend bought me an original AT-AT for my 30th birthday in 2005. We went to my 1st convention where we saw it sitting there. She went and paid 45 quid for it + 1.50 for a loose driver! We then had it autographed by Kenny Baker for a tenner, and then later that year it was also signed by the young Boba Fett. Its probably my fav prized SW possession. Now long after we spilt it sits here to painfully remind me that she was a truely thoughtful diamond at times...
Yeah I had an At At and it was my most expensive and most favorite toy, it had little light up cannons under the head, man I played with that thing a lot
I really LOVED this as as a kid but remember being truely traumatised that anyone would buy a bloody expensive AT-At and then knock it over. Toy abuse.
It's a shame the video is flickering so much... cool camera angles!

ay tee ay tee?: People who call an at-at an ay tee ay tee are almost as sad as me for posting this fucking shite.
I thank you.

I loved the little square button underneath you'd press to make the lasers light up. And that funky sound it would make.
When we had our Hoth battles it was usually in a darker room so we could see it light up.
Good memories. Thanks for posting this!

Nothing wrong with that, considering they are pronounced "at at" in the movies.
davesantiagallery 3 years ago
they were called walkers in the movie. no one called them AT-AT or aye tee aye tee in the movies.

I really wanted an AT AT when I was young and i missed the release of the special edition AT AT and they never rerealesed it.
I'm quite excited to get the lego AT AT even now :)
flakelorenz02 4 years ago 2
You can pick up new At-At's at Toys R Us. Thing is they're painted with brown and green dirt stains to match the one in Return of the Jedi on Endor.
