  • Dude, that run starting at 1:00 is absolutely one of the filthiest licks I've ever heard!!! How do you get your tapping so immaculate??? I mean, there is zero string noise! I don't know how you do it. Even if I sat on the neck and ass-muted it, there'd still be string noise. Amazing!

  • wow this is incredible!

  • hey Chris, what are your thoughts on Guthrie Govan?

  • This a real tough backing track to stay on and chris handles it easily

  • I'm not ripping your other vids, you're an awsome player with great technique, but this for me, is the most tasteful thing i've heard you play. Great stuff.

  • aahah yo man nuttin better then newfoundland hahaha good job feener keep it up man dont look back

  • I see you got a little inspiration from Mr. Govan.

  • When improvising like this, do you think scale wise and what chords you are playing over, or do you just hear whatr sounds right and know your guitar so that you know what the note will sound like before you play it?

  • festivaaaaal !! respect.

  • Love that style of playing! Awesome :D

  • What an amazing talent!!!! Probably the most fantastic G & L ever made; humbuckers, coil tap, ebony fretboard, graph tech nut, etc. This guy could make a 2 x 4 sound just as good that's how good he is, well done.

  • where can i get this backing?

  • keep it up vacant ;)

  • ROCK \m/

  • You have awesome feel man! :)

  • A perfect balance of shred within such a beautiful improvised piece.

Im a heavy metal fan through and through, but this fucking rocked on every level.

    Well done.

  • This video put a huge smile on my face!

    Fantastic playing bro

  • Fking amazing man! Gives me shivers!

  • You reminded me alot to Frank Gambale and some Guthrie govan there nice job dude!

  • GREAT!

  • World class playing man. Not too many people can play both metal and jazz fusion and excell at both. YOu are very talented and dedicated musican. No one can take that away from u. Wish u success.

  • This is really good, were did you learn the tapping thing? and i be happy if you send me the backingtrack / strattan..... ps.5 stars

  • you have a huge future in this

  • dude teach me how 2 play lol

  • This is one of the best solo's i've ever heard i've been listening to it non stop for a week. Best of luck to you though I doubt you need it with those skills.

  • Nice it reminds me of that guy Guthrie govan, i think he did the same thing.

    Nice playing anyway :)

  • fuck sake...

    what a feeling

  • In his playing? or in your pants because i'm experiencing both LOL

  • nice GL!

  • cool playing!

  • very good player! where you download this backing track please ?

  • While I'm commenting on things...

This is my favorite video from you. All your metal stuff is incredible of course, but I really dig the musicality of this. Glad to know you've explored other styles of music outside of metal. Keep on rockin', it's inspiring.

  • damn i know what you mean musicman it puts me in a good mood. could i get that track too? haha

    love your style man!

  • hey did u ever send the audio?

  • 0:48 is the most epic thing ever

  • Chris im amazed at how versatile your playing is dude. its a gift from the guitar gods

  • do you have an audio track for this, I want it on my iPod, it put's me in a good mood

  • I can rip the music from the video when I get home tomorrow if you want dude! Just PM me your e-mail address.

  • I love all your vids but I love when you jazz it up! You should post more vids like this one.

  • Thanks man. It's definitely the style of lead playing I spend most of my time working on nowadays. Telling a story, keeping it interesting while trying to maintain some technical-oriented licks.

  • @ChrisFeener What you guys just said is pretty much what i was gonna say, i personally think this is one of your coolest videos as far as demonstration style and the most amazing part is its improv!!You progress through your vids into a spot on fuckin beast on the guitar, and i def know talent, i wish i could play as good as you and tell the story and put the pieces together so fluently and without flaw..im tellin every1 bout u, you are absolutely gonna make it man, you got what it takes.PERIOD

  • very tasty!

  • Sick G&L man, i love all your videos...way to rep Newfoundland.

  • Thanks dude \m/

  • as long as you dont edit it you can just upload it stait from the video camera or what ever u recorded it on to it dosent have to go threw wmm

  • who wouldve guessed that you could get a jazz tone like that out of a 6505, wow

  • Is it really a 6505? I was looking at getting one of those, but I didn't know what the less distorted tones were like.

  • Yeah man, their SUPER versatile haha. Atleast that's how I find mine to be.. most people dub it a "metal-amp" however. It's worth trying one out for yourself.

  • Lol that was so balls to the wall. love it

  • at first i didnt like ur tapping runs but now i cant get enough of em. sometimes they sound similar to dimes super stretch runs

  • amazing!

    its only i can say.

  • this is really jazzy dude...absolutely badass

  • oh well duh....steely dan...didn't recognize the name at first.

  • Chris Feener, I am very jealous of you. Good luck with your career!

  • Fantastic, Nice tone & Feel... Loved it....GW

  • those tapping licks are soooo sick

  • sounds simply amazing

  • You are amazing, what amp are you using, your tone is orgasmic!

  • Thanks man! It's a Peavey 6505 head with Marshall 1960A cab.

  • Thanks Bud, Keep rockin!

  • sick improv dude almost as good as guthries

  • What is this "JP" forum I want in on this action....

  • Hey Chris! This is JazzTerminator from the JP forum. I agree with the guy that Paul Warren is a total douche, but, you on the other hand, are totally growing as a musician and this is proof. Great work, dude. I remember when you first started posting your improvisations; you've come a long way with it. Some advice: more themes/ melodies. Great, great stuff, though. Five stars man. Take care!

  • Thanks a lot man!

  • nice vid.

  • what happened with your other guitar? XD

  • XDcH i think there's happened nothing.. Stratocaster is better guitar to play music like this :)

  • i dont think that's a strat

looks more like an ESP, or maybe a custom

but i guess it could be a strat, just not one i'v ever seen

  • It's a G&L Comanche, so essentially, a pimped-out Strat :P

  • i think this is a G&L comanche? maybe? i know its by g&l \m/

  • dude, you just keep gettin better.

  • that lick that starts at 0:25 is my fav.

  • shogunnuts.

  • Hey, Chris. This is Alex Meadus' cousin, Duane. Been listening to you a lot lately, thought I'd leave a comment for once. xP Loving the playing, mate. Keep up the good work and all that.

  • Awesome dude!!

  • 1. Chris Feener.

    2. ??????

    3. Profit.

  • AWESOME playing man!

  • very nice.....love the gradual climbs that you do and then incorporate some tapping styles. great feel. nice work!

  • Gave me a Blues Saraceno vibe. Was that intentional or is it just me? Awesome video anyways.

  • Never heard of Blues Saraceno to be completely honest! Thanks.

  • Very nice! Do you play by ear?

  • Hmm.. kind of, I understand what I'm playing for the most part, though.

  • that was rediculously good

  • Chris Feener detected.

    Autorate 5 stars.

  • Where do you get your backing tracks for your originals? They ended up really awesome. I have a couple written, but my drums sound bad once filmed.

  • Very nice... melodic, but spontaneous...

  • Stunning stuff!(And gotta love those G&Ls)

  • Frickin amazing! Dude you are great! Rock on man!

    BEN-jamin'

  • dude this is what call a kickass video !!!you really rock dude!sasha

  • Very, very nice! Great gig. great tone and feel! Loved it! 5 stars!!

  • Nice phrasing, good work.

  • That's just awesome dude!

    10/10!!!

  • this is awesome. really really awesome. Wow. FUCK!!

  • wow - that's all I can say

  • Nice dude!

  • What are you doing wrong?!! Nothing dude! That was friggin awesome! Nice work - it really sounded like you were playing over the harmony. The only thing I would suggest is to try implying a C7alt kind of sound in bar 4 of the progression to lead into the Fm7. Dude this is seriously good!

  • Ahh, thanks for the kind words dude!

I'm really only getting into the whole "playing for the harmony" business now, it really makes things sound so much more colorful, and things fit together so much nicer verses just wanking mindless in-key patterns over the whole thing.

  • i would like to know what are u talking about, i mean, i know what a C7alt is, but how do you make that "leading-to-another-chord" thing, and what about "playing for the harmony"? i supposed that u(i refer to any of us) always do that when u play over a chord progression dont u?

the phrasing sounds really fluid and fresh, so do your songs (=

  • Well in the case of C7alt you would play C Super Locrian and just target a chord tone of Fm7 and then you're into F Dorian.

  • damn wtf you know your theory

  • Damn this is cool! Very good improvisation. Never stop playing, you have the future! \,,/

  • Sweet improv bro! Very smooth and of course nice chops. Your using the 6505+ right?

  • Thanks dude!

Close, it's just the regular 6505.

  • That was soo good!

  • Awesome playing again Chris! Less than half my age and 10 times better at guitar than me, that qualifies you as a sick b*stard in my book!

  • Bad Asss! Keep it up dude.

  • I almost started crying cause your so good :D Im 21 and im not even close to being that awsome. I've got to practice more! ;) Take care dude.

  • Great! Watching it, I feel like just grabbing my guitar as well.. but, alas, I have to run to the work now... :P

  • Amazing! Do you know what each note is on the fret boart, or do you memorize patterns?

  • I guess it's a combination of both. Obvsiouly I come back to some of my "comfortable" licks from time to time but, the main trick is learning ways to piece your ideas together. I find arpeggios awesome for that.

  • you jerk! i see what you're doing... slowly nudging the ibanez out of the picture.. keeping it in the background to make it ok. but its not ok, is it? IS IT!?

    ahem. awesome playing btw.

  • Actually I think it's partially due to the monster which grows exponentially that is my hair.

  • easy there frank gambale jr! how old are you? you make me want to either never play again, or break all of your fingers! havent decided which yet...

  • I'm 20, and I gotta say I'd prefer neither :P

  • wow man ur amazing. someone grew out their hair!! how long have u been playing? keep rockin

  • And will continue to grow it until it reaches my knees!

Thanks man, I got my first guitar when I was like 8 years old, but didn't really pick it up hardcore until I turned 13 or 14, which is when I learned how to read tab, got a computer and internet access, and started listening to Metallica :P

  • Insane. You play like someone twice your age.

  • Reminds me of Star Ocean music.

  • Great jamming, and your hair is cooler than ever.

  • man awesome as always.

  • Alright i spose........haha just playin', good shit. P.S. come the fuck out here so i can go out there and get my drums and we gets that band on the go

  • badass

    keep it up man

  • sick bro!!awesome as allways...

  • Marry me Chris!

  • very nice, some sort of guthrie and wischi ideas

  • Yes! New Chris Feener vid, and it was amazing as usual!
