I was one of the contestants on Kathie Lee Gifford's audition tapings. Mr. Ralph Edwards wanted to make some format changes to the $100,000 Name That Tune - including adding the 'La La Girl'... They brought back two former contestants for the test... and showed the completed product at the "PREVIEW HOUSE" on Sunset Blvd in Hollywood. LOL... they opted to keep her around but not me :^)
Buzz, if you state you dated her and have held those pictures, you are a very decent human. ALOT of people would have broke down and asked for good money for them.
I didn't know there was a Second Chance tournament on this NTT. It was a great move though, on their part. As for the Lange NTT, I grew up with that version (watching it on USA and later on Family Channel). On the other hand, I've recently watched a few remaining episodes from Kennedy available, and It's great. A great show from an excellent (and one I've underappreciated--until now) host in Kennedy.
This must be during one of those "Second Chance" $100,000 Tournaments they had from 1976-1978, for champions who won the Golden Medley, but didn't get the Mystery Tune. Is that correct?
Yes, it was a "Second Chance" Tournament. The first one they ever held. They thought it was quite successful and decided to continue the format. But I think the show lost an awful lot when they went from Tom Kennedy to Jim Lange.
Thank you for your comments. I have the "final" segment on tape and I will try to upload it sometime soon.
