To get to the point where you can use jiu-jitsu to a high level of efficacy requires the practitioner to receive a large amount of, for lack of a better word, ass-whoopings. it must be a slip-sliding experience that requires quite an adjustment for two jiu-jitsu fighters to fight in a sandy beach. i imagine it would be the same only worse if two such fighters fought geographically much farther north in the snow. a great martial artist knows how to adjust to and use his environment around him.

His brother along with several buddies walks up to some guy on the beach, punches him in the face and challenges him to to a fight for your life match b/c they guy said Gracies suck? Guys,.... please! I live in Rio and it happened in the 80´s. It doesn´t happen anymore. In that decade things were solved this way. Now a days if it happens, someone shows a gun and the fight is over. And about the 2 fighters in this video... bouth are professional fighters.

so the gracies are calling this self defense??? rickson slapped the guy in the face and challenged him to a fight. then he waited for the guy to take off his shirt and got ready for it. how is that the "unpredictable" nature of the streets? this is not an example of self defense.

Self defense???
Since this family of role models (sarcasm) popularized their martial art style and got the UFC in-motion, much of the world has become 10x more obsessed with fighting than ever before. I hope they don't encourage self-defense because, if they do, they're the worst hypocrites on Earth. Show-casing their bullying art has merely influenced many thousands of ignorant sadists to be more efficient with their own bullying. Martial arts is good but these guys are clearly bullies

@SoberAllmanBrosFan Don't insult the art, insult the teachers. Jiu Jitsu is used by many folk as a relaxer to channel their inner urge to fight and to humble them into avoiding dangerous fights.

@SoberAllmanBrosFan A bullying mentality doesnt work when it comes to jiu-jitsu. To get to the point where you can use jiu-jitsu to a high level of efficacy requires the practitioner to receive a large amount of, for lack of a better word, ass-whoopings. Plenty enough to beat the "bully" out of them.Those who can't handle the blow to their ego will quit long before theyre any good. Jiu-jitsu is an extremely humbling game to play, and I would recommend it to anyone with that bullying mentality.

it must be a slip-sliding experience that requires quite an adjustment for two jiu-jitsu fighters to fight in a sandy beach. i imagine it would be the same only worse if two such fighters fought geographically much farther north in the snow. a great martial artist knows how to adjust to and use his environment around him.
