@BUGMECH14 In the first Darkstalkers game (or at least the first one released in the Western market), the game had you traveling the globe fighting your opponents in a fashion similar to Street Fighter II. So Dimitri was placed in Transylvania, Jon Talban in London, Rikuo in the Amazon, etc. I guess they just weren't sure where to place Morrigan and figured "well, we haven't used Scotland..."

It happened because Funamizu sold something like half the stock of capcom to "WHITEWOLF" games then he created like six or seven versions of like two or three games and released them in America as well as released counterfeit JAMMA versions of some of the games as well as let Criminals from Sunnyvale run the company which resulted in it destroying the american versions of the Japanese originals...

The street fighter Cartoon and movie sucked harder than this...

@TheChoujinVirus Actually, the Morrigan is originally from Irish mythology, the name means "phantom queen" or "great queen" depending on slight differences in pronunciation and theoretical origin (either from a word for "terror" or one for "greatness"). If you're thinking of the link of Morgan Le Fay with the Morrigan, that's just conjecture. It is a Scottish accent though (but I dunno if it's a real one), the rolling "r" is a dead giveaway; definitely not the right accent in any case.

This was my first exposure to the Darkstalkers universe. I knew it sucked but I could not stop watching. It was so different. Later in college I began collecting the anime. It was fun, not the best, but the fight scenes were cool. Then I was able to get the 1st and the 3rd games. YAY!!!!!! THEY WERE AWESOME!!!!!! I still play them today.

Just a little fyi for those who are ignorant of the facts (which is apparently everyone), *this* was never a Japanese series, nor was it *based* on a Japanese series.

It was based on a Japanese fighting game, yes, and several years later the Japanese made a four episode OAV (Night Warriors: Darkstalkers Revenge), but this *entirely* American series was the very first animated series based on that game.

People do this kind of loose adaptation all the time, for various reasons; it's still based on Darkstalkers, it's unmistakably recognizable as such, which it had to be in order to capitalize on and advertise the games. I've seen much worse "adaptation" than this (I don't mean where the result was worse, just it had even less in common with the original).
