La Colaiacomo è davvero è una grande, anche se avrei voluto vedere interamente l'Anan (ma perchè ogni anno cambia il modo di scrivere il nome di questo kata?!)!
Karate is a waste of time to learn, because when you see them fight, all you see is kicking and punching. All the fancy moves they do in the kata is not used. You might as well learn boxing for your arms, and ballet for your legs, because that's all we see when we see karate students, and their teachers fight in competition. Bottom line, if you what to fight like a karate master, then go to ballet classes and buy a punch bag, that way you will not waste your time on useless kata. AMEN.......
On the Gi point again, fair enough if you like it that way, I just think it looks better and smarter to have a shorter Gi top, mid thigh maybe. Just opinion! :D
@andykarate her stances wer off because she had a torn ligament in her left knee at the time. amazing she was able to win the world championships with an injury like that!
@madgecic - Thanks for the information about her injury. Having seen her Unsu previously I kind of wondered 'what's up' this time around. To be frank I think she was kind of lucky to pull of a win with that particular Unsu & no doubt she feels the same way. Perhaps it an indication of how far reputation will take you. But hats off to her for pulling off a pretty decent kata with dynamic turns and a jump that would have really tested her knee.
@BelloBudo007 the competition back then isn't 1/4 as tough as it is now. Hence Hoang Ngan Nguyen had to forfeit the final last year in Serbia because she sustained a similar injury in the semifinals. I agree reputation is a big factor, but looking at the other performers here.....even with her injury, none of them were as good as her.
This Tournament was in Sim City,South Africa. and the 2nd place is Melanne,She is from Seattle,WA Shito Ryu Karate-Do Hayashi Ha Org.She is not longer in tournaments,I haven't seen her for a long time.
I love the ones whose Belts are far too long and worn far too high as well as their gi's being far too big for them! lol. Good kata performances (from the majority)
That must have been in Japan with Japanese judges. The girl who was second was awesome, her stances were fantastic. The girl who won it was sloppy throughout out and her technique was poor, she shouldnt have even had 3rd

Have a look at the winners stance just before she does the jump - it's supposed to be SOCHIN Dachi, but it is too high and too short.
I have practiced Shotokan Karate since 1980, but it's interesting to see the katas of other Karate styles.
