Dessay does do well with this but there is more beauty in Callas's singing than in Dessay's studied performance. It's s not meant to be the doll song (is it?) Unlike Handel it's not easy to improve on 20th century bel canto singing.
Im not sure another soprano has ever lived who is more poorly suited to this than her. there is NOTHING about her big harsh voice that is in any way suitable for light french repertoire like this. try listening to Dessay for this kind of music
@skitzo429 I think she lightens her voice very well for this, and she executes the coloratura cleanly and with subtle dynamic shadings. Try staying away from Callas if you don't like her so much.

Da questa registrazione mi pare che sia proprio una grandissima artista, La Divina, Maria Callas, e mi pare che anche nella coloratura non abbia nulla da invidiare a chiunque altro
