PS: I've also always wondered what the guy was saying in the background. I've heard it before and I thought it was Hitler, but I'm wrong. Could someone educate me on this? What's he saying?
you can hear these words quiet frequently in movies portraying nazi-germany, I think its in Downfall (look it up on imdb) the part where those brainwashed insane monkeys put kids into uniforms to defend hitler, I think indiana Jones had this line in it as well. but wont bet on it ;)
Dude, you kick so much ass! I -thought- it was German! To be honest, the first time I heard it, it sounded like Hitler saying something in the background. My German is bad though. Thanks for the clarification, you can see how hard it would be to find an answer to this. It def. sounded like Nazi marching orders/rhetoric. Danke.
it's not exclusivly nazi rhetoric in this case more like orders given to a platoon of soldiers. the effect it has in the context of red alert though and the typical miltaristic association in context with this war game and the enigmatic "kane" forces but to draw this conclusion ;) kane has a lot of stalin and hitler in him, but we all know its just a game and in good fun - so no harm in being amused by him, is there? ^^
Oh, also found this on Wikipedia, now that I googled the phrase:
"Originally intended for use with the Brotherhood of Nod, it features militaristic samples—including marching, industrial sounds, and a commander shouting "Die Waffen - legt an!" (German: 'Raise your weapons - take aim!' or more literally: 'The weapons - take aim!')"

its a marching order. telling the troops to turn left and advance

Marching order, but in Russian then?
buddahmastahz 3 years ago
not Russian, its German - a drill instructor or NCO orders his platoon to take/grab their weapons and take aim "Die Waffen, legt an"
fummedotze 3 years ago
due to some distortion the "take aim" part sounds like "links um" the order to turn left.
