I've been putting off seeing this movie for years!, but will surely be getting it soon after the hearing the great things you said about it =) just watched the trailer and can see why you titled it "It has two states of being: dangerous or dead!" take it easy man!
@spaulding069 It's awesome man. Not a lot of blood and gore, but good fun. Hope you like it as much as I do mate! Let me know what you think about it too mate. Take care buddy.
love razorback! saw it for the first time last year. also love pig hunt! a great high energy film! wasn't big on chaw myself, the cgi really bothered me. great vid man!
@HorrorsBall Awesome movie, right? A friend on here has been kind enough to offer me a copy of Pig Hunt so I'm really, really excited about checking it out! Fuck, was hoping it wouldn't be a CGI-based movie. Said to another guy on here that so many creature and monster movies are ruined by it. Fucking hate CGI haha - may still check it out though. Thanks though man! Hope you're doing well mate.
@IGoldenThroatI yeah, thats whats great about the films from years back like razorback. is the use of practical effects which usually always look better than cgi. well the cool thing about pig hunt is no cgi! you actually don't see much pig at all, which is cool because sometimes less is more with creature features! pig hunt is so fun! it even has les claypool from the band primus in it, don't know if ya know that band. anyway, let me know what ya think after ya see it. later man!
@HorrorsBall Yeah, if I know the guy sending me the movies it should all be some good old school fun, all done properly with practical effects, so I can't wait to stick it in the DVD player and give it a watch! And I definitely will mate, make sure I mention all films that people send me in a vid, so you'll definitely be hearing about it from me!
Cheers man! Much appreciated; both the little shout and for doing the review. I can't remember ever seeing this, but I've been tempted to buy it for ages. Sounds awesome, and I think I'll double dip on the killer pig movies and pick up Pig Hunt at the same time. Definitely sounds right up my street mate!
@miyacemu No problem man. I hope you like it as much as I do man, haven't had any negative comments about the movie since I uploaded it either which is awesome, cos I think it's really good fun. Pig Hunt does sound awesome, Paul said that he'd send me a copy of that which is just awesome so really looking forward to checking that one out. Chaw is another one I'm thinking about checking out as well.
@IGoldenThroatI Yeah, it generally seems to get favorable reviews. That's awesome that Paul is sending you a copy of Pig Hunt, definitely be interested in hearing what you thought of that. I saw the trailer on the Invitation Only disc, and it looks pretty cool. Yeah, Chaw was another one I was going to mention, not seen that either. I think I've tended to stay away from "monster" movies and the like a bit lately, just because you come across so many shite ones!
@miyacemu Agree with you there mate - I avoid a lot of them for that reason - and a tonne of them are full of particularly awful CGI as well. Chaw is Korean I believe and they've been releasing some really cool films over the past few years, so really do wanna see that. And yeah, it's just awesome when people are generous enough to send you stuff like that, but I always mention films on here that people send me so you'll definitely see what I thought of Pig Hunt!
@IGoldenThroatI Yeah, I don't know why monster movies attract such god awful CGI. A lot of the time you're left wondering why they even bothered.
Korea is a hot bed for awesome movies. I think I said in my DVD update; the production quality and cinematography in so many of the movies coming out of that country, just trounces the big budget American stuff.
@miyacemu Spot on mate. And yeah, struggling to think of a disappointment from Korea at the minute - but just been told that there's a lot of CGI in Chaw which doesn't bode well...
hey mate a great Australian film. This film was made in the same place as mad max 2 just 15 miles from where i was born. at the same pub where one the mad max 2 cars is. they have some photos from the shoot and it was pretty awesome to see how it was made. in one of the photos you see the pig on the front of a car where they used it to look like the pig was running after the people. great film
haha cool beans i think the film is fantastic too and i truely appreciated the harsh realistic nature and setting of the film as nothing good really happens to the protagonists it shows australia in a new way where the communities are hostile against visitors and are very brutal and barbaric to the animals which is true human nature ------ attention companies out there a blu-ray release soon please
@Glynreaper08 Absolutely, they manage to keep it fun and easy as well. Brilliant film. Haha, well said - was saying earlier how this seems to be the only copy of the movie you can get over here. Blu-Ray would be awesome, but I just want something with some special features on it!!
It's another good old helping of early Eighties horror hockum. Garnering quite a following as the years have elapsed & many a similair themed wild killer hog movie has followed. Director Russel Mulcahy handles this very well & it has great moments of visual brilliance just as stand out as his masterwork Highlander. Excellent night scenes & the attacking pig in the enclosed environment all action finale is teriffic stuff. Great that this has found a home on DVD. Good call Richie :)
@buckaroobanzai Thanks Paul! Loved this movie, and almost picked up a copy of another killer pig movie called Chaw after I watched this for the first time. Never did in the end, may be one to check out soon though cos I had forgotten quite how much I loved this movie!
@IGoldenThroatI Razorback may well be the best Killer Pig flick out there. Chaw is one funnily enough I almost picked up a couple of times but then never got around to doing so. Pig Hunt is definitely worth a watch Richie if you can source that at a great deal. You had me 'chomping' over Almost Human from Shameless in this comment thread & the Lenticular cover. I have just ordered from Amazon the Fan edition with that cover art. Just hope that it is indeed one of the limited lenticulars !?.
@buckaroobanzai Well, if I pick it up before you then I'll let you know what it's like! Awesome, haven't heard of that one - will keep an eye out for it. Oh man, it's awesome isn't it. I reckon the Fan Edition should be the lenticular one!
@lastalot Hahah. Cool man, well we'll work out what ones you want nearer the time then mate! Totally agree though man, they are fucking lovely editions of some really awesome films but couldn't agree more. Almost losing interest with them tbh, releasing so much stuff at the minute (and they're not cheap either) but it's just hard to keep up with them. And every time you add one to the collection they seem to have 3 more released they want you to add. Always preferred Shameless anyway haha.
@lastalot Sweet fella, well hopefully I'll be working soon and we can sort something out! Gonna go mad buying shit with the first pay-check haha but definitely wanna sort out a trade too. Fuck man, they've released a really cool lenticular cover of Almost Human - looks awesome. And apparently they're releasing Cannibal Holocaust as well which is fucking brilliant. Could sort you out a few of their releases for Salo when I get some cash again if that's what you're after mate!
@xTheGoodBadUnusualx Thanks mate. Yeah love this movie!! Haha, sod's law there, it's around and about the internet for cheap on DVD though if you wanna pick it up again mate.
@lastalot Haha, definitely man! And thanks Dom, appreciate it mate. I'll see how much money and stuff I have after I do the draw for the contest prizes on Wed and ship them etc, cos having to be careful with money at the minute obviously. Have I remembered right from one of your vids that you like the Saw movies? But would definitely be up for trading it for something if/when I have the cash! I agree man, a little bored of having nothing to do all day, but something'll come up if I keep at it!
@lastalot Glad everything's ok mate. Sucks about work though - I've got the opposite problem atm, no work to knacker me out at all which is pretty damn shit haha. Had a promising interview the other day though, so hoping that goes well. But life's all pretty fucking good at the minute thanks mate! Hope you get the time to do a vid today though man!
Great review, Richie! I was hoping you'd like this one, I absolutely love this film, my favourite Aussie horror! The cinematography is nothing short of breathtaking, you can tell that the director has come from a music video background but back when music videos were a little more innovative and less of the fast cut juxtapositions most are now. I'd love a daybill of this film but they always go upward of eighty dollars here (roughly forty-five to fifty pound).
@CarryTheZero1980 Cheers fella! Yeah, absolutely love this movie. Fucking hell though, that's a lot of money! Been looking for a special edition or something of it myself, but doesn't look like there's anything out there. But yeah, the cinematography was awesome - I also loved the script, some of the lines of dialogue in this are just priceless.
@IGoldenThroatI Luckily we have an amazing Special Edition here in Australia with commentary, documentaries, deleted scenes etc and typically it sells for around AUD$18.99 though you can often pick it up for around $6.00 around the traps. As the Aussie Daybill was out of reach for me, I picked up a US One-Sheet a couple years back from under ten bucks but have yet to frame it, the artwork is absolutely killer, different again from Australia and the UK.
@CarryTheZero1980 This single disc edition is all I've come across on a couple of standard websites over here! So the minute I manage to get working again that sounds like a plan mate - will let you know when I have the money for shipping and trading etc though cos I'd love a SE of it!!
@IGoldenThroatI No dramas, whenever you're keen let me know and we'll work it out :)
Btw the extras are: Brand New 16:9 Transfer (2.35:1), Remastered Dolby Digital 5.1, Jaws On Trotters (70 minute Documentary), Audio Recollections From Actor Gregory Harrison And Cinematographer Dean Semler, Grisly Deleted Scenes, Stills And Poster Gallery & Original Theatrical Trailer (+ other Aussie Horror trailers).
@CarryTheZero1980 That sounds fucking awesome man. Hopefully I'll be working soon, so give it a few weeks and you'll definitely be hearing from me with what you want in the trade man!
Nice video Richie i remember that movie from my youth it was one of the stranger films I remember. But it was a good film no matter how strange it was. How are things?
@the13thwolfman Thanks Thomas! It is strange - makes me laugh though! Not bad though thanks mate, nothing to complain about anyway! Hows stuff for you though mate? Gonna try and do a vid for couple of your Top 5's soon as well!
@IGoldenThroatI I am doing well I just worry about all you guys over there and the riots. Would hate to see any of your or your family and friends get caught up in this or hurt by it in any way. Looking forward to the Top 5's you are going to record.
@the13thwolfman They were about 20 minutes away from me the other day and the street that my girlfriend works on was shut down a few days ago as well. But haven't been caught up in anything nasty, but thanks for the concern mate - means a lot. Seems to be dying out a little now anyway! Glad to hear you're well though fella.
@IGoldenThroatI Glad to hear it is dying out that would be freaky to go to work and the street be shut down. How did your girlfriend take it was she shaken up at all?
@the13thwolfman She was fine. To be honest the only way it's really affected us is more just travel delays etc cos we're not near anything too busy and there aren't many shops and stuff here, but whole areas of London have been completely closed down - some really busy, popular places as well. Where we used to live got hit pretty badly apparently, so we were lucky to move when we did.
@IGoldenThroatI Well if you can ut with the travel delays then I guess you got it made. Man that sucks about London and boy are you glad you moved or what?
@the13thwolfman Yeah, travel delays seem to be pretty minor troubles to what some people have had to put up with. Tell me about it mate! We were really central last year, only one stop away from an area that had to get closed down due to the rioting and looting there!
I've been putting off seeing this movie for years!, but will surely be getting it soon after the hearing the great things you said about it =) just watched the trailer and can see why you titled it "It has two states of being: dangerous or dead!" take it easy man!
