  • Ontario's French speaking community is smaller then almost all the other minority groups. Really if they wished to speak another tongue it should be Korean or Chinese. I'm a social Democrat and can't find any fault in John Tory not being able to speak a tongue we just don't use in Ontario.

  • goddamn

    lol

  • For John Tory: Si desea representar a los ontarianos, hay que hablar en dos idiomas - punto final.

  • Tory is a failed looser that no one wants, im a 416 Conservative and I stayed on the sidelines last time, he is not a Conservative, he is a flip flopping Liberal, good luck in Haliburton Tory, you better bring lots of barrels of pork if you want to get voted in up there, I know I won't be voting for him down here!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Bahahahahahahahaha French no Spanish!

  • Ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha!

  • en francais por favor muchas merci

  • Blow it out your ass Rusty Franco Berr. We know your kind around here. Go live in your freakin Franco "nation" and leave English Ontario alone. Bunch of freakin agitators causing nothing but trouble in this country. Time's up!

  • it's funny...but i don't think it really helps with the "anti-tory" context

I'm voting Liberal - but people shouldn't vote John Tory cuz he sucks at French? You guys can do better than that, I can think of five off the top of my head right now

  • Are you serious. I'm glad they put it in the paper or else I wouldn't have found this. Por Favor. This guy can barely speak english and he's making a mockery of the population of Franco-Ontariens in Ontario, myself included. Stop whining about your atheist bs... I noticed you voiced your less than relevant opinion in the University of Zero clip too.

  • He should be "Par faveur", which is "for favour" in French, but we use "s'il vous plaît" in French...

    It's a bad mistake.

  • It depends on how it is spelt.

'Pour Favour' is 'for favour' in french.

  • It's obvious Mr. Tory speaks three languages: English, French and Spanish. Isn't that better than two?

  • For alyo. Canada would be a much better country with you out of it.

  • We do not have French signs everywhere on our highways, only in designated bilingual areas (usually near the boarder, like in Ottawa). Go to Chinatown you'll hear a lot of Mandarin, go to Brampton you'll heard a lot of Punjabi and Hindi.

That doesn't change the fact that Ontario has only one official language. To demand an Ontarian speak French, but not every other language, is hypocrisy, end of story.

  • Ahhh, it seems my problem with comments was that I was trying to post a link to my source. I guess you can't post links.

Anyway, you can find the reference I mentioned at the tinyurl site 2c6xag

  • Again with the freezing comments! I must be doing something wrong (it's my first day!)

Anyway, RustyBerr, you sure about that? Because the Government of Ontario says differently in their people and culture section.

"English is Ontario's official language, although French language rights have been extended to the legal and educational systems."

I don't deny French being a popular language, I deny that it's official.

  • Although English is the main "official" administrative language of the Government of Ontario, English and French are the official languages of Ontario. The Province of Ontario is effectively a bilingual province: government services, as well as the justice system and education, are provided in both official languages. In addition, provincial laws are enacted in English and in French, each version is equally authoritative.

  • fuck this country. and fuck liberals

  • WTF, I've tried to comment about 5 times and still nothing's showing up. I can't believe the delay is that long.

Anyway, I've been trying to say that English is the one and only official language in Ontario. Yes, many people speak French, but that alone should not make bilingualism a requirement for provincial politics. A good to have skill, yes, but not a requirement.

  • How good it Dalton's French?

  • I agree, he's a douchebag, but why exactly should someone running for Ontario parliament be expected to speak French?

  • So, you're a member of the Lady Godiva Memorial Bnad?
