Yes, about 2/3 of the earth's surface is covered in water, but only about 1/50 of the earth is made up of water. Europa seems closer to 80% water in total. Pretty unique and amazing.
because of jupitors huge mass and europa egg shaped orbit it gets stretched and compressed in its orbit and that its secret way to heat up and yes if it ice then theres probally an ocean
AWESOME VIDEO! I REALLY DO BELIEVE there is an ocean underneath that icy crust! There's probaby life: It would not surprise me, but it would fascinate me! Just think, there could be an ENTIRE AQUARIUM underneath Europa's crust! Its probably more geologically active than we [scientists/astronomers,etc] think. I'm just an Astronomy fanatic! @aachikha123 i think that the scientist in NASA should consider this seriously before going about digging holes in other planet. people have done much damage to earth and now they are trying to go to other planets!
@aachikha123 the water would just come up to the surface after the drill is taken out and freeze immediately. The UV rays will not harm any forms of life.
@aachikha123 That would not be possible because the ice refreezes after a couple of minutes after it has been broken that is why they will use a nuclear heated probe to actually melt down in the ocean and not drill so by the time it reaches half way its entrance hole would already be closed and if Jupiter's gravity was strong enough to pull the water and make tides it of made it long ago when comets and asteroid were hitting it.The uv rays might alter the lifeforms and kill some but not all.

@newmac There are fish like that below our ocean. If the temprature is right i could belive that there is life. It's really wierd the planet actually stretches and flexes or somthing. That indicates that there is water. Twice as much as on earth people assume!

No, because all satellites do eventually (like a billion years) collide with the planet that it orbits around. Also, I don't think that we should start to abandon the earth we trashed, move to titan, and start trashing titan, then move to blah blah blah and trash that. Then we die by being stupid. Hooray!

Nah, its just the right distance away not to be pulled in, but at the same time is the perfect distance away to orbit about Jupiter, I would think the moon would have a very long orbit. It could be slowly getting closer to Jupiter. Kinda like how our moon is slowly travelling further from us.

@Vildasnage not gonna happen. Because of stubborness as a general whole, the advancement of science has significantly slowed down since the 1960's. HUmanity won't even touch Europa for another 100 years.

Yeah, Europa is my favourite moon. Subtarranean ocean with l;ikely promises of life. Very tantalizing. My second favourite moon is Titan. Guess you know why by now.
In a few billion years this will be our new home, cause the suns expansion will one day destroy the earth... BUT its heat will travel further out, warming the outer planets and melting the said ice of this video. Apparently it has more water than the Earth! Wow.
Considering the average existance of a species on earth is maybe a couple of million years, barring any astranomical or geological disaster.
It is extreamly farfetched to think we would exist as a species at the point.
I'd also like to point out that deserts on the surface of the earth seem to continually and constantly expand. They don't shrink. It'll be nice big ball of sand and water at some point. Geology is fun!
Thats not true, just because deserts expand does not mean they will expand to incapsulate the entire earth. Furthermore some scientific models suggest that the Sahara will shrink in the near future.
Biosphere, evolution and Earth...love to play together, a more dessertic planet is just a stage on this game...evolution and biosphere will play on this new stage too so, yeah...we still have some life for a couple of millions of years
the atoms of water could have been changed into hydrogen and oxygen atoms and so the world could become entirely dry but with a much denser atmosphere
its not at all far fetched to assume we would live considerably longer than the averege species, all other species have had very low capability to adapt to their suroundings, if any. we can do that very very well.
yet we're still, phylogenetically, acutely specialized. Even if we have the knowledge to somehow abstract our livable environment to a high tech solution, ultimately, we are warm blooded thin skinned (not hardy) mammals. Contrast to a cockroach, and you see what I mean.
yes. but if there are simple organisms on europa, there are simple organisms everywhere in the universe. and if we are to believe evolution theory, that also means there can be complex life everywhere in the universe.
We have to go there! We have to find out whether life has evolved in those oceans under the ice there! It's the most important task in the whole solar system now, and NASA needs to"get it's finger out" with these missions they're planning to Europa(and to a couple of other Jupiter moons, there are two more there which can have oceans under the ice caps)
Europa might have water but it isnt warm enough when the water erupts through the planet therefore it freezes when it gets to the surface and theres absolutely no way it can substain human life since it is way too cold and far away it is a FULL water planet has no land whatsoever
still the main reason why they say that stuff and is interested is because they "want" it to substain human life and you kno that people arent interested on what kind of life besides anything that can substain us
you tard no other planet or moon in our solar system has that amount of water... water equals life. no living being from a whale down to a bacteria can survive without water... there is a real high chance life exists there. POINT!
ok i didn't know you were special ed... this video shows the temperature fluxuation underneath the crust... were do polar bears and seals live??? oh yeah, the anractic, europa has water!!!! water too cold to hold life? you are an idiot. its water you stupid fucking tard! no need to explain shit to your helmet wearing ass.
ok mr.imsosmart calling me special ed my iq is actually 2 below genius using bad language u must feel cool and polar bears and seals?u kno how far out jupiter is from the sun?its too cold for them to live there and polar bears and seals dont live in the water they are mammals they need air
this is what i mean by you being special ed, there are talking about that's the most probable moon to hold life, nasa proved there is water, and there are looking for micro organisms not fucking whales cocksmoker... you are lame..
i am lame?cocksmoker?is that even possible? i think your in special ed cause i never said whales live there i said its too cold for anything major to live there key word is major and i dont need to speak to u anymore a person with low intelligence thinks they are cool by using that type of language what a waste of my time ur probably 12 years old nasa didnt prove there was water they never went to that moon and see it for theirselfs they are making assumptions so get ur facts straight
Actually bro, Jupiter emits more heat than our own sun. lol. I just found that out, because, NASA had said that Jupiter is pretty much a giant heater. Or pretty much another sun. Meaning that if enough time passes and our current sun send enough Positive Photons towards Jupiter at such a high amount of heat and energy, Jupiter can become another sun, However, This will take a few more years, Since in recent studies Jupiter is emiting more heat and sucking 100 times from our sun ^_^
Yes, jupiter does emit a higher temperature than our sun's surface... but I'm not too sure about that theory. The compositions of the sun and Jupiter are different.
yeah ok im stupid but u have nothing to say about how i am stupid right?ive already watched everything about europa on discovery channel and shit so yeah
I Highly disagree. First I want to say that just because Europa is "cold" doesnt mean it cant support AQUATIC LIFE. There's organisms that live at THE BOTTOM of the Arctic Ocean. With NO direct sunlight. Heat is not required for life, take a look at Riftia. The bottom of the Atlantic Ocean, no sunlight, and spewing sulfuric acid hot enough to burn yo ass up. But guess what, its an ORGANISM. So it doesnt matter if it supports human life, ANY life outside of Earth is a milestone in mankind IMO.
lol what u dont get is this is earth not europa it can be at the bottom of atlantic ocean with no sunlight but there is still heat do u kno why?want me to explain?as u get further into the earth it gets warmer and organisms feed off of things down there
See but what people fail to understand is that although thats EARTH laws of life, who says that those same laws applies to the ENITIRE universe? You dont know, I dont know, NO ONE KNOWS. So therefore, your explanation is nothing but a theory. just as well as mines. Oh and not all Arctic Organisms feed off "things down there" lol open your mind. It will expand your horizons. Stop thinking close-minded. So unless you have the book of life in your hands. I rest my case. Good day and night lol.
um i never said it was for the entire universe so yeah i said it was for europa which my theory is probably more likely than urs since the sun is way way far from it which probably only micro organisms can survive there in extreme temperatures and only they can cause theres so little heat stop trying to make things more complicated than they already are i rest my case good day good night
Its Good Day AND Good Night. Get it RIGHT, get TIGHT, or else Well FIGHT LOL. Oh and guess what "micro organisms" are? Per what you said as quoted. LIFE FORMS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! LMAO You fuckin dumb ass bitch. Dont play yourself like you just did. LOL silly kids.
when i meant life forms i meant something as major as us and other things like animals?so yeah thats all u got? lol silly kids?i said good day good night cause i was mocking u so yeah ur just a little child using verbal language to think he's cool or she or it
I got the nitequil for that common cold, bitch stop coming for me. Bitch you dont have my PO Box, how you going to drop a package off at the wrong address? Lol I said life mean UNCODITIONAL LIFE. Life in General. Swallow your pride and admit your wrong, damn lol. Lastly it all started from my OPINION, how you going to argue down someones opinion? Lol wow.
it started from ur opinion?since when?im sure u replied to something i said to someone weeks ago what are u talking about the PO box and stuff are u like mentally ill? and im sure u meant life as in us not life in general and i can say the same to u as in swallow ur pride ignorant brat
The pot cant call the kettle black because if you call yourself taking the high road, then you would have never stooped down to my level lol come on now. Never I'm I embarrassed. I'm done arguing with you. It was fun while it lasted but its getting old now and I have a life to tend to then continue this with you because you will go on forever (not to my face though). Anyways, I'll let you have the last laugh. Take care youtube friend! ;)
u dont make any sense at what u say i wont go on forever not to ur face though?doesnt make sense and seeing how u reply to my messages so often i guess u dont have a life to tend to of course ill have the last laugh :) i always will
I used to think Io was the coolest Galilain moon but Europa ssounds even cooler. i mean i heard that it might have water present under it's surface but not a global ocean! and the whole fact that it can restore itself constantly is really cool
lol we arent even ever going to look in different galaxies lol we are only going to look in closest solar systems if something, it would take us 100,000 light years to even leave our galaxy
its still more then 2k years lol more like 179,000light years to the closest galaxy from milkyway + 179,000ly for any signals holding info to come beack to earth, thats like thousands of generations of lives
Also imagine they send a spaceship now that travels at speed of light lol by the time it even gets to different galaxy technology on earth would develop so much that we maybe would be able to port into that galaxy before teh first satelite even gets there.
Number 6 reason is that if we dontn finally find life there,
we can still ice skate the shit out of it...

Yeah, Europa is my favourite moon. Subtarranean ocean with l;ikely promises of life. Very tantalizing. My second favourite moon is Titan. Guess you know why by now.

L. Ron Hubbard went there. He didn't like it. Hotel service was poor.

In a few billion years this will be our new home, cause the suns expansion will one day destroy the earth... BUT its heat will travel further out, warming the outer planets and melting the said ice of this video. Apparently it has more water than the Earth! Wow.
CincinnatusSPQR 2 years ago
Considering the average existance of a species on earth is maybe a couple of million years, barring any astranomical or geological disaster.
It is extreamly farfetched to think we would exist as a species at the point.
I'd also like to point out that deserts on the surface of the earth seem to continually and constantly expand. They don't shrink. It'll be nice big ball of sand and water at some point. Geology is fun!
Kawaiibat 2 years ago
Thats not true, just because deserts expand does not mean they will expand to incapsulate the entire earth. Furthermore some scientific models suggest that the Sahara will shrink in the near future.

Biosphere, evolution and Earth...love to play together, a more dessertic planet is just a stage on this game...evolution and biosphere will play on this new stage too so, yeah...we still have some life for a couple of millions of years
KantoIkari 2 years ago
the entire earth canot become desert because that would mean the water just left the earth
soundcheck126 2 years ago
well, the antartic continent is a dessert and is full of ice. Anyway, my point was "not huge life forms"...
KantoIkari 2 years ago
the atoms of water could have been changed into hydrogen and oxygen atoms and so the world could become entirely dry but with a much denser atmosphere
penis3x69 2 years ago
its not at all far fetched to assume we would live considerably longer than the averege species, all other species have had very low capability to adapt to their suroundings, if any. we can do that very very well.
matszz 2 years ago
yet we're still, phylogenetically, acutely specialized. Even if we have the knowledge to somehow abstract our livable environment to a high tech solution, ultimately, we are warm blooded thin skinned (not hardy) mammals. Contrast to a cockroach, and you see what I mean.

Europa rules! best moon in the gayest solar system
mcai9mh3 3 years ago
if theres any life there its gonna be simple organisms.
hellothereyogibear 3 years ago
yes. but if there are simple organisms on europa, there are simple organisms everywhere in the universe. and if we are to believe evolution theory, that also means there can be complex life everywhere in the universe.
ibnmb 3 years ago
We have to go there! We have to find out whether life has evolved in those oceans under the ice there! It's the most important task in the whole solar system now, and NASA needs to"get it's finger out" with these missions they're planning to Europa(and to a couple of other Jupiter moons, there are two more there which can have oceans under the ice caps)
winterstellar 3 years ago
it certainly rocks!

wow now that i watched this video i think europa is mysteriously cool!!! maybe some life is forming there?! or it can sustain aquatic life?!
joshuacute09 3 years ago
I became a fan of Europa in middle school when I had to do a research on it. And I'm still amazed by it.
nicholerika 3 years ago
All these worlds are your except Europa. Attempt no landing there. Use them together. Use them in peace.

dsfsdffsd 3 years ago
whaterver you say to us about that planet,
i'll still say the wolrd is just awsome to live in!!!
zephir203 3 years ago
Europa might have water but it isnt warm enough when the water erupts through the planet therefore it freezes when it gets to the surface and theres absolutely no way it can substain human life since it is way too cold and far away it is a FULL water planet has no land whatsoever
funboy670 3 years ago
They never said it could sustain HUMAN life.
They said it could sustain LIFE.
SavageKhmer 3 years ago
still the main reason why they say that stuff and is interested is because they "want" it to substain human life and you kno that people arent interested on what kind of life besides anything that can substain us
funboy670 3 years ago
No,theyre looking for aliens.
imnotfrommilkyway 3 years ago
I don't know about you, but I don't give a fuck about trying to live on anywhere besides Earth.
We barely even know about Earth. We know more about our moon than our oceans.
SavageKhmer 3 years ago
point?
funboy670 3 years ago
you tard no other planet or moon in our solar system has that amount of water... water equals life. no living being from a whale down to a bacteria can survive without water... there is a real high chance life exists there. POINT!
12GaugeLosAngeles 3 years ago
point?its too cold for anything major to live there so point?
funboy670 3 years ago
ok i didn't know you were special ed... this video shows the temperature fluxuation underneath the crust... were do polar bears and seals live??? oh yeah, the anractic, europa has water!!!! water too cold to hold life? you are an idiot. its water you stupid fucking tard! no need to explain shit to your helmet wearing ass.
12GaugeLosAngeles 3 years ago
ok mr.imsosmart calling me special ed my iq is actually 2 below genius using bad language u must feel cool and polar bears and seals?u kno how far out jupiter is from the sun?its too cold for them to live there and polar bears and seals dont live in the water they are mammals they need air
funboy670 3 years ago
iam more intelligent than you.
cptskellern 3 years ago
sure good for you saying you are more intelligent than someone doesnt prove anything
funboy670 3 years ago
this is what i mean by you being special ed, there are talking about that's the most probable moon to hold life, nasa proved there is water, and there are looking for micro organisms not fucking whales cocksmoker... you are lame..
12GaugeLosAngeles 3 years ago
i am lame?cocksmoker?is that even possible? i think your in special ed cause i never said whales live there i said its too cold for anything major to live there key word is major and i dont need to speak to u anymore a person with low intelligence thinks they are cool by using that type of language what a waste of my time ur probably 12 years old nasa didnt prove there was water they never went to that moon and see it for theirselfs they are making assumptions so get ur facts straight
funboy670 3 years ago
Actually bro, Jupiter emits more heat than our own sun. lol. I just found that out, because, NASA had said that Jupiter is pretty much a giant heater. Or pretty much another sun. Meaning that if enough time passes and our current sun send enough Positive Photons towards Jupiter at such a high amount of heat and energy, Jupiter can become another sun, However, This will take a few more years, Since in recent studies Jupiter is emiting more heat and sucking 100 times from our sun ^_^
NAMASTAIWA.
arshdeep125 3 years ago
if this was so true then europa's surface wouldnt be so cold since it is so close to jupiter nasa are making theories
funboy670 3 years ago
that's impossible!
Ziza9423 3 years ago
Yes, jupiter does emit a higher temperature than our sun's surface... but I'm not too sure about that theory. The compositions of the sun and Jupiter are different.
Jae132 2 years ago
He emits more energy than he receives from the sun. He is far colder than earth indeed.
fauxpace 2 years ago
WATER = LIFE

@Funboy670
you are Stupid as Fuck
xMakavelo 3 years ago
yeah ok im stupid but u have nothing to say about how i am stupid right?ive already watched everything about europa on discovery channel and shit so yeah
funboy670 3 years ago
I Highly disagree. First I want to say that just because Europa is "cold" doesnt mean it cant support AQUATIC LIFE. There's organisms that live at THE BOTTOM of the Arctic Ocean. With NO direct sunlight. Heat is not required for life, take a look at Riftia. The bottom of the Atlantic Ocean, no sunlight, and spewing sulfuric acid hot enough to burn yo ass up. But guess what, its an ORGANISM. So it doesnt matter if it supports human life, ANY life outside of Earth is a milestone in mankind IMO.
TuReal4Lyfe 3 years ago
lol what u dont get is this is earth not europa it can be at the bottom of atlantic ocean with no sunlight but there is still heat do u kno why?want me to explain?as u get further into the earth it gets warmer and organisms feed off of things down there
funboy670 3 years ago
See but what people fail to understand is that although thats EARTH laws of life, who says that those same laws applies to the ENITIRE universe? You dont know, I dont know, NO ONE KNOWS. So therefore, your explanation is nothing but a theory. just as well as mines. Oh and not all Arctic Organisms feed off "things down there" lol open your mind. It will expand your horizons. Stop thinking close-minded. So unless you have the book of life in your hands. I rest my case. Good day and night lol.
TuReal4Lyfe 3 years ago
um i never said it was for the entire universe so yeah i said it was for europa which my theory is probably more likely than urs since the sun is way way far from it which probably only micro organisms can survive there in extreme temperatures and only they can cause theres so little heat stop trying to make things more complicated than they already are i rest my case good day good night
funboy670 3 years ago
Its Good Day AND Good Night. Get it RIGHT, get TIGHT, or else Well FIGHT LOL. Oh and guess what "micro organisms" are? Per what you said as quoted. LIFE FORMS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! LMAO You fuckin dumb ass bitch. Dont play yourself like you just did. LOL silly kids.
TuReal4Lyfe 3 years ago
when i meant life forms i meant something as major as us and other things like animals?so yeah thats all u got? lol silly kids?i said good day good night cause i was mocking u so yeah ur just a little child using verbal language to think he's cool or she or it
funboy670 3 years ago
I got the nitequil for that common cold, bitch stop coming for me. Bitch you dont have my PO Box, how you going to drop a package off at the wrong address? Lol I said life mean UNCODITIONAL LIFE. Life in General. Swallow your pride and admit your wrong, damn lol. Lastly it all started from my OPINION, how you going to argue down someones opinion? Lol wow.
TuReal4Lyfe 3 years ago
it started from ur opinion?since when?im sure u replied to something i said to someone weeks ago what are u talking about the PO box and stuff are u like mentally ill? and im sure u meant life as in us not life in general and i can say the same to u as in swallow ur pride ignorant brat
funboy670 3 years ago
LOL! Dont get your panties in a bunch.
TuReal4Lyfe 3 years ago
i guess u dont have any more of ur little embarrasing vulgar words to throw anymore good job noticing how ignorant u are im proud of u /pat
funboy670 3 years ago
The pot cant call the kettle black because if you call yourself taking the high road, then you would have never stooped down to my level lol come on now. Never I'm I embarrassed. I'm done arguing with you. It was fun while it lasted but its getting old now and I have a life to tend to then continue this with you because you will go on forever (not to my face though). Anyways, I'll let you have the last laugh. Take care youtube friend! ;)
TuReal4Lyfe 3 years ago
u dont make any sense at what u say i wont go on forever not to ur face though?doesnt make sense and seeing how u reply to my messages so often i guess u dont have a life to tend to of course ill have the last laugh :) i always will
funboy670 3 years ago
lol io is constantly cutting the cheese.
I used to think Io was the coolest Galilain moon but Europa ssounds even cooler. i mean i heard that it might have water present under it's surface but not a global ocean! and the whole fact that it can restore itself constantly is really cool

Can we find life in space in different galaxies other than ours?
(That would take a long time unless there is a way to travel in space faster)
Crash22203 3 years ago
lol we arent even ever going to look in different galaxies lol we are only going to look in closest solar systems if something, it would take us 100,000 light years to even leave our galaxy
Newbpwng 3 years ago
I know, but it would be cool if they launch a sattelite to a different galaxy, and after... 2000 years (or more), you'll see everything =P
Crash22203 3 years ago
its still more then 2k years lol more like 179,000light years to the closest galaxy from milkyway + 179,000ly for any signals holding info to come beack to earth, thats like thousands of generations of lives
Newbpwng 3 years ago
Then let them create this big huge antenna on the space ship (I'm guessing 10,000KM long)
=P
Crash22203 3 years ago
Also imagine they send a spaceship now that travels at speed of light lol by the time it even gets to different galaxy technology on earth would develop so much that we maybe would be able to port into that galaxy before teh first satelite even gets there.
