Great 3D graphics, though they're pretty low definition compared to those on my X-Plane flight sim which, for much less money, runs nicely on my Mac Pro and gives me peripheral vision (which you seem to lack ) at the turn of a head using TrackIR, allows me a choice of dozens of different helos and hundreds of aeroplanes, and lets me sit here all day practising. Your major benefit is the availability of real controls and instruments, but …
Should be running X-plane as the software..Insanely realistic helicopter flight characteristics, also going to have a very nice new R22 coming out for it.
The SIM allows the pilot to train for scenarios that are dangerous to practice in the real helicopter. The "real" R-22 that is used in this FLYIT SIM has no engine, transmission, etc, and does not burn avgas. The average rental for a R-22 helicopter is USD 250.00 plus $60 or so for the instructor. The SIM costs only $100 per hour to rent, and the pilot can learn instrument procedures, emergency procedures, or even how to hover without spending $4 per minute. A good investment of money.
@drahon45 Airworthy R22's are at most flying schools when you qualify, and if you can afford to get airbourne every time you want some training, good on you. However, the simulator makes sense on a tight budget.
@drahon45 I personally don't mind any particular idiot getting "hands on" experience and training in a real helicopter, crashing and dying. That's not my problem. But if I'm in my living room eating, watching tv, and said idiot crashes into my house and ruins my meal, well then ... We'll have a problem on our hands..
-The result of simulation can be studied under different conditions.
-It is cost effective(Does not cost much as the real experiment).
-The simulation can be operated more quickly than the actual system(Real experiment).
-If the actual experiment (real life) is too fast or too slow you can slow down and or make it operate more quickly to study it's behavior .............
@drahon45 because because it's cheaper and safer to start people training on simulators then the real thing. It's also usually a nice attraction at Air shows and other related events. Try looking up the prices for a rental and a one flight lesson. You will then appreciate Flight simulators a lot more.
I went to the site, I would like to add this to my mansion room but how much? I can't navigate around the site. I am also going to be buying the Batmobile and hovercraft.
This is to bulky for any type of simulation, why not cut off the tail? go to flyit(dot)com. They're the biggest names when it comes to the real helicopter simulation business (motion and everything!)
Yes, I think this is pretty much a waste of $240K when you can buy a FULL FLEDGED commercial simulator, you know, those approved by the FAA for training and everything (anything approved by the FAA must be truly awesome)....for 1/4 of the price....check out flyit(dot)com for products and hovercontrol(dot)com for an awesome info on helicopter simulation.....this is a waste of money IMO.
PLEASE tell me you can still take it out of the box and actually FLY IT!!!!
