Always been terrified of firecrackers, but have to admit I've often wanted to attend a Diwali celebration, even if a few kids lose eyes and hands in the process.
@Roamancing Well, as with Christmas, it largely comes down to who you get to spend it with, so pick some good and fearless friends and just let loose! I'm sure there are neighbourhoods in Canada that go off at this time of year. (My Indian friends, BTW, will be marking Christmas too- any excuse for a party!)
@MrJai800 Good to know, J! You just had me google "Guy Fawkes" to learn a little more about it because to me it was only ever plain old "Firecracker Night". And I just learned something new: Guy Fawkes' attempt to blow up Parliament actually failed in 1605- that's what we're actually celebrating- I somehow had it in my head that he'd succeeded!
@ashokscape Thank you, Ashok- same for you. As an artistic type, prosperity has always been my weakness so I certainly could do with some divine help! Don't know if KD and his friends were launching those rockets sideways on purpose but Shyam put it well when he said "It's like a war zone out there!"
@ashokscape You betcha! We had missiles, we had bombs, the only things we didn't have (thank God) were injuries. By the way, I wanted to thank you (or rather Kenny Wordsmith) for liking "Return of the White Whale" on Twitter, which gave me the first "As Seen On" badge on one of my vids!
I truly enjoy your videos. Your humor and interviews are amusing and your subjects very interesting. I can experience life a little thru your travels and see things I never would have otherwise.
@lovelyrita243 Very glad to hear that, Tammy! Shyam and I have given a lot of thought to what should be the "formula" for these videos so it's reassuring to know that we're on track.
@theloathlydaddy Thanks for watching Steve! I'm glad you liked the interview- am always keen to put my training to good use and find a telegenic subject to sit down with. When it comes to uncontrolled fireworks, yes, the anarchy of India can be fun, or as one fellow passenger put it to me once on an Indian train: "There's a freedom in lawlessness."
VW, another great video, please keep me posted to your whereabouts. living vicariously through your travels is the best part of the YouTube experience.
@aduziproductions That's praise indeed, Aduzi. Your comments are a highlight too for me! I'm now in Bangalore, South India, which the system makes me key into Google maps, but when a video posts no link to the map appears. Hmmm...
@videowilliams VW, maybe technology is still playing catch up, yeah, that's it, it couldn't be our lacking of operating skills. What kind of equipment are you publishing with? Anyway, nice job, always a pleasure keeping in touch.
@funkandgroovin Thanks for commenting, old friend. It's been a while! As for staying safe, I normally would but India tends to reward the fearless, so I'm prettymuch surrendering to the chaos!
@Princesshayuhi Why thank you Princess! From a connoisseur of beauty like yourself (and one who remembers the old 5-star system) that means a great deal.
@albenia1935 I should be posting one a fortnight, Charles, from now until I leave, now that we've finally got our production act together. Thanks for watching and for joining in my 70s nostalgia! Sometimes I wonder if they were really better days or if it's just that I was a kid...
@videowilliams It was one of those "it's funny 'cause it's true" moments. There's nothing you can do about it so just sit back and wait for it to happen lol
@GreatScottPilgrimage True enough, and sure enough there were the kids in the Bangalore Times the morning after, with bandaged hands and bandaged eyes :-(
@videowilliams It's terrible. The saddest thing is (not to push a stereotype or anything) they'll never learn. Still, must be fun until someone goes blind or disabled, finger-wise.
@davidsquall351 Yes, Aishwarya's been hassling me to get this up all week! I'm kinda sorry I couldn't post the entire 7 minute interview (our dialogue got harder to hear as the room got louder) but perhaps if she gets more fan mail here I will!

Treat watching you have a treat! Those two rockets I saw shooting sideways looked really dangerous!
Anyway, may Lakshmi give you lots of prosperity this year! :)

That was a fun interview/movie review, very much enjoyed! Gotta love fireworks, interesting that there are no laws controlling them. Excellent video!
