Fallout 3 - wasteland and radiation with small settlements

Fallout New Vegas - less wasteland and radiation with a ton of settlements, a few towns, and the Strip.

@0gaugeshotgun and therefor FNV is worse than F3. In a 'post-apocalyptic nuclear wasteland' i want wasteland and abandoned cities, warhouses, etc... just like in 'Pripjat'. The joy of desolace and grief, gray and lonelyness, gives a special touch to the entire game. Isn't (or wasn't) that the intent of the creators of the first fallout games?

Well I hope you enjoy the Capital Wasteland because any sequels are most likely going to have more civilization than the past games. If they did keep 'only' abandoned buildings and irradiated areas, then the series would become bland.

@Tommy0145 Your right. But the game engine was a bit crappier. At Fallout: New Vegas, there was no exciting feeling when you we're exploring caves, shacks etc. In Fallout 3 it was like " Wow, what was that? ". Thats when the atmosphere hits the roof.

New Vegas feels more like a wasteland to me, and it's inhabitants are more rough/desperate than in Fallout 3.

@Tommy0145 Remember, in Fallout 3 society was almost completely destroyed. They were still rebuilding in F3. In New Vegas, society has already rebuilt itself, so it's more of "help more people" where F3 was more "Explore and meet new people."
