My last comment was sarcasm, but regardless (or whether or not he ordered it) the Pope gave his full endorsement of the crusade after-wards, and it was still his men (the catholic faithful) who did it. Also the Italians left Constantinople to its fate, those 3000 came not endorsed by their govt but as volunteers. Not to mention it was the Venetians and Franks that forced Constantinople into humiliating treaties that destroyed the economy and led basically to financial collapse.

Innocent III most certainly did not endorse the crusade. He excommunicated the leaders for the crusade. It is irrelevant whether the they were Catholics or not. If the pope makes a proclamation and he is disobeyed, what can he do apart excommunication (which he already did)?
Further, I never said that Italian city-states officially sent aid - I said Italians participated in the city's defense - which is absolutely true. Read up on Giovanni Giustiniani Longo, for instance.

They knew that the ottomans had been equipped with medium sized cannons prior to the invasion but they weren't as much a threat due to their short range and poor impact. Urban's gun was newly created by the time of the invasion. Urban's gun also had several drawbacks: it was too heavy to carry, it's ammunition who's cannon balls were 63 cm in diameter were in short supply, and sometimes the cannon fell apart after it recoiled. Nevertheless, the siege tactics of the ottomans were significant.

nope. the byzantines where greek. they where part of the roman empire yes, but they where as greek as the ancient athenians or spartans.
