this is beautifull. i am tryin to find a track ya'll did many years ago. can you read my mind. trombone solo. my band director made me arrange this song for my senior year stage band concert in high school. it would bring back so many memories if ya could help. thank you and i salute all of ya. from a marine musician to an airman musicial.
over the past few years ive been an aspiring young musician who hopes to live a life of music. i know quite a few instruments but watching this only inspires me to learn trumpet like i wanted to since the start. amazing sounds
Wow that was amazing! I was looking for a video to help me get better at trumpet because I'm in junior high and I really want to be first and solo more. This video is inspiring and I wish I can get a higher range and get better :D
Great video!!!! We played this at our jazz band concert with John Blount as our guest artist. A really great arrangement and very well played by the band and the soloists. I was on the 2nd trumpet part no wear near as good as those Kevin Burns. But still a really nice song it is my favorite tune out of our jazz book.
@jr7rockets it takes a lot of practice to be in the Airmen of note! On a serious note, just tell your recruiter that you want to audition for a band, there are quite a few military bands out there. A good friend of mine named Scott (played trumpet in the Airmen of Note), he loved it, said it was a great gig, but always remember - you're a soldier first.
im a senior in high school and i play the trumpet. i want to join the air force after high school. can anyone tell me how to get in the air force band and what does it take. please and thank you.
you guys are absolutely amazing! me and my best friend are playing this duet in our jazz band. this is the best arrangement of "Over The Rainbow" that ive ever heard!
We played this arrangement in my college group. It started the second half of the set and did not go so well for our lead trumpet and myself. I ended up taking the run to high G down the octave and there was no double c...we were tired!
AWESOME AWESOME double C's! I played this arr for Jazz Band of America on Lead Trumpet but only took it up to a double G, any tips for range building and power? Again awesome performance..
OMG!! you guyz are F'ing crazy!! i would give my kidney to play like any of you guyz!! come and play in Miramar Florida in Everglades High school, PLEASE!! we would all appreciated so much!! I LOVE YOU GUYZ!! MY IDOLS!! oh and my teacher Ms. O'farril told me that her husband Mr. O'farril was your teacher, Kevin Burns, is that true? OMG!! they would LOVE if you guyz came and play for us!! PLEASE!!
i mean. okay. yeah. it was great. but the recording is off to the side. his sound is thinner as it gets higher. i prefer the lead trumpet player in the Army Jazz band. Liesl Whitaker. i mean. probly cuz my dads in the Army Jazz Band. Craig Fraedrich. but okay=)
Thanks for the comment. I recorded this with a small digital camera off to the side. I realize it's not ideal, but the audio turned out pretty decent considering. I know Liesl and Craig. Both wonderful players.
Do a google search for Airmen of Note. There is an unofficial page that has every recording the band has ever done, and it is all legal to download because they are a military band. This song in the final track on one of their newer albums titled Out in Front. You can find a very similar version of it in the Airmen of Note album Somewhere Out There where trombonist Dave Steinmeyer does the solo.
i havent heard harmonized screaming high notes! haha that was cool. normally a guy is so overly happy he pulls off that one high note, he just kinda screams it, not playing musically at all.
Wow this awesome!!!!!

Only double G? Hah...don't be so modest. That is excellent. There was a time when nobody played Gs.
kaunasprince 2 years ago
a double G is above a double C.
A high C is the note 2 ledger lines above F. A double C is the octave above that.

sure...if u wanna call it a double c...i'm sure he actually meant "double c" by saying "high c".

that was astounding!
You two played beautifully and musically together, in the midst of playing so high as well.
Usually I don't like people screaming but you two were still very musical in spite of that!
and nice ending, especially the harmony, haha!
