  • Wow this awesome!!!!!

  • this is beautifull. i am tryin to find a track ya'll did many years ago. can you read my mind. trombone solo. my band director made me arrange this song for my senior year stage band concert in high school. it would bring back so many memories if ya could help. thank you and i salute all of ya. from a marine musician to an airman musicial.

  • @TheKaraokejoe1 Dave Steinmeyer played a trombone solo arrangement of this on the album "Somewhere out there".

  • over the past few years ive been an aspiring young musician who hopes to live a life of music. i know quite a few instruments but watching this only inspires me to learn trumpet like i wanted to since the start. amazing sounds

  • Wow that was amazing! I was looking for a video to help me get better at trumpet because I'm in junior high and I really want to be first and solo more. This video is inspiring and I wish I can get a higher range and get better :D

  • Great video!!!! We played this at our jazz band concert with John Blount as our guest artist. A really great arrangement and very well played by the band and the soloists. I was on the 2nd trumpet part no wear near as good as those Kevin Burns. But still a really nice song it is my favorite tune out of our jazz book.

  • I love me some Brian MacDonald and Kevin Burns!

  • 3:07 = Your tea is done.

  • @famguy2 How did you know?! That was more amazing than this whole shabang of an ensemble!

  • WOW!

  • one word.

  • I used to play with Brian McDonald back in college. Dude is a beast.

  • Excellent!

  • Damn...

  • damn

    that was incredible

    the ending was amazing

  • And by the way.. that last double C almost brought me to tears lol.

  • Some day... some day I'll have chops like that.. and get into a premiere band... hours in the shed... hell yeah. GREAT playing by the way!

  • @jr7rockets it takes a lot of practice to be in the Airmen of note! On a serious note, just tell your recruiter that you want to audition for a band, there are quite a few military bands out there. A good friend of mine named Scott (played trumpet in the Airmen of Note), he loved it, said it was a great gig, but always remember - you're a soldier first.

  • im a senior in high school and i play the trumpet. i want to join the air force after high school. can anyone tell me how to get in the air force band and what does it take. please and thank you.

  • 0:35-3:35 was untouchable. ive never seen or heard any better on this song amazing

  • I just played the first trumpet part to this arrangement in a concert. I got the double C just fine, only it was down an octave.

  • you guys are absolutely amazing! me and my best friend are playing this duet in our jazz band. this is the best arrangement of "Over The Rainbow" that ive ever heard!

  • We are playing this in Jazz Band this year. We are gonna suck so bad compared to these guys.

  • YEAHHHHHHH BRO SOUNDS AWESOME!!!!!!

  • No, you aren't manlier than any of them.

  • This was simply amazing

    Wow!

  • Oh My GOD --- A DOUBLE RAINBOW !!!

    WHAT DOES IT MEAN ?!?

  • I'm a sucker for a good trumpet player :)

  • YEAH, I WANT TO SEE THEM PERFORM!!!

    WHERE CAN I SEE THEM!!

  • saw then at the saengar theater in pensacola last year. i sat third row and was literally blownaway

  • unbelievable...u have an amazing amount of control and finesse all over the horn

  • hahahaha! The end! I like it!

  • @chooechooe But can you hit them in tune, and good tone?

  • oh. my. GOD.

    :D

the guys at my school can hit these notes but idt they can get that loud...

    that was amazing(:

  • holy schnikes

  • just ridiculously f**cking brill

  • bloody hell that was high that was amazing :D

  • Brian makes that Conn Connstellation he's playing beg for mercy! What a sound.

  • We played this arrangement in my college group. It started the second half of the set and did not go so well for our lead trumpet and myself. I ended up taking the run to high G down the octave and there was no double c...we were tired!

  • PLay Brian!!!

  • i played this arrangement... tat DUBBA c!!

  • WOW !!!!!!! great job!

  • AWESOME AWESOME double C's! I played this arr for Jazz Band of America on Lead Trumpet but only took it up to a double G, any tips for range building and power? Again awesome performance..

  • Only double G? Hah...don't be so modest. That is excellent. There was a time when nobody played Gs.

  • a double G is above a double C.

A high C is the note 2 ledger lines above F. A double C is the octave above that.

  • Hi. What fingersetting do you use?

This guy uses 1+3 or 1+2?? can´t really see.

  • Living outside Wash, DC, I have had a lot of opportunities to listen to the Note and they are always great! Seem to always have good trumpets too.

  • nice, muy bonito...

I LOVE YOU GUYZ!! MY IDOLS!! oh and my teacher Ms. O'farril told me that her husband Mr. O'farril was your teacher, Kevin Burns, is that true? OMG!! they would LOVE if you guyz came and play for us!! • I would too,if I had a spare one,but since I don't I'll have to just listen. You go Brian!

    Brilliant!

  • holy god....

  • Nice job Brian- you will always be the ultimate trumpet geek to me... ~~Vicki

  • I love your vibrato/sound Mr. Burns. Didn't you play lead in the Falconaires years ago? Very nice work. Very original sounding.

  • Yes I did! Thanks for the kind words!

  • Did you record the album "A Touch of Jobim"?

  • wow you guys are awesome!!!!

  • Oh my god! Amazing!

  • wow, nice playing brian, congratulations!

  • Very nice playing! potential to be 2 of the best.

  • Love your inflection man. Awesome feel.

  • i mean. okay. yeah. it was great. but the recording is off to the side. his sound is thinner as it gets higher. i prefer the lead trumpet player in the Army Jazz band. Liesl Whitaker. i mean. probly cuz my dads in the Army Jazz Band. Craig Fraedrich. but okay=)

  • Thanks for the comment. I recorded this with a small digital camera off to the side. I realize it's not ideal, but the audio turned out pretty decent considering. I know Liesl and Craig. Both wonderful players.

    Kevin Burns

  • course nobody does play double c's like brian.

    great cut really enjoyed it.

just heard alan baylock's new CD. you guys both sound great on that as well.

  • @jazzybugler I thought the recording sounded great

  • its higher than the high c. And the high c is nothing ;) for a lead Trumpet player. The double high c thats something, but only if its a fat tone

  • sure...if u wanna call it a double c...i'm sure he actually meant "double c" by saying "high c".

  • oh my!!.. i have yet to play in this musical journey. That was sooo marvellous.. Great job guys!

  • Complementing these people is like telling Peyton Manning that he is a good quarterback.

  • Anyone know where I can get a good recording of this?

  • Do a google search for Airmen of Note. There is an unofficial page that has every recording the band has ever done, and it is all legal to download because they are a military band. This song in the final track on one of their newer albums titled Out in Front. You can find a very similar version of it in the Airmen of Note album Somewhere Out There where trombonist Dave Steinmeyer does the solo.

  • that was astounding!

You two played beautifully and musically together, in the midst of playing so high as well.

Usually I don't like people screaming but you two were still very musical in spite of that!

and nice ending, especially the harmony, haha!

  • That was amazing very good job it usually takes me a couple tries to get that high

  • i was there!

  • That was sweeet...

Next thing you know, you'll be making jokes about the Note manager's cool name...

    Post more!

  • i havent heard harmonized screaming high notes! haha that was cool. normally a guy is so overly happy he pulls off that one high note, he just kinda screams it, not playing musically at all.

  • hell yeah

  • he always uses that line "my mothers fav trmpt plyr"

Brian MacDonald is amazing, I live in Boynton 10 min from Ft Lauderdale, so I got to see him many times

  • Airmen of Note rockss

  • amazing, well done.

  • Always nice to hear high-note trumpet players who can still play musically (and in tune, and with a nice sound...)!

  • if both of you are using the wedge, does that mean you are now a hexagon?.....yah yah yah!

  • This rules bro I hope we can use youtube more often to keep up with each other!
