@themerseyshadow They had nothing to prove, indeed. Jeni Clarke is still alive and well, though, and what about the great Graham Nash?
Sadly, neither Graham nor Allan Clarke are speaking to Sylvester since the incident at the RRHOF, nor have they, being gentlemen, mentioned it; while Sylvester has harped on it during his live performances.
Allen Clarke is an angry old man. How DARE him take the mic away from Terry Sylvester and give it to that whoever the fuck it was. Allen went to shit when Nash left the band to play some serious music with CSN. All Allen did after that was a couple of pussy pop ballads.
@BeatleSongPlayer Allan Clarke was very nervous and didn't know if he could sing again after all these years until Graham Nash helped him get his confidence back. For Sylvester to crash the stage and throw things off really caught poor Allan off guard. Pat Monaghan belonged there for Allan's sake.
Of course it hurt very badly for the Hollies to lose Graham - but see how Allan and Graham are like blood brothers; it's like he never left.
@BeatleSongPlayer Allan is not an angry old man. He didn't take the mike from Terry. Anyone with two eyes can see that. Terry was not the one who should have been singing. It was Pat. Allan rehearsed the song. You have some nerve commenting on Allan's career after Graham left. He continued performing with the Hollies, and they produced very strong and influential music. If you're trying to justify Terry's actions by insulting Allan, it isn't going to happen.
@sapphiretaurus "Anyone with two eyes can see that". Please look at the video@1:49. Terry was in the Hollies, not Pat. I thought that out of respect he should have been given at least one line to sing, although I did think Pat sounded better. Sorry, I didn't mean to offend you. BSP
@BeatleSongPlayer I have seen that video right and left, and Allan doesn't physically take the mike from Terry. Pat is the one who does. He lifts it out of Terry's hand. Pat Monahan was the singer comissioned by the RNRHOF to sing this song with Allan, not Terry. Bernie and Eric were members of the Hollies and did not perform, and they are not complaining about that. Terry got to sing one verse without anyone interrupting him.
@sapphiretaurus Well, if you want to get that anal about it, you are correct. Allan took the mike from Terry and handed it to Pat, who "physically" took it from Terry. My god man, get a life and leave me the fuck alone. You're missing the whole point. You are offically BLOCKED. Wise up and grow up son.
@BeatleSongPlayer First, idiot, I'm not a son, and you are the one who getting anal from the beginning. This issue was discussed over and over in other places, and unless you are blind, you would see what was going on. You have to get a life, but judging by the way your brain works, you can't. Grow up learn how to speak English. So I've been blocked by a loser and a jackass, how sad! What the hell is this point that you're trying to make?
@sapphiretaurus Simple stupid. Terry was in the Hollies, Pat was not. Please send me a video of your cover of a Hollies tune, playing all the instruments and singing all the vocals. You can check out my cover of "Look through any window" on my home page. Check it out before you talk out of your ass.
@BeatleSongPlayer You're the one talking out of your ass, idiot. I saw your videos, and you sing like a dying cow. Unless you want your ass kicked, your throat slit, and your insides ripped out, then you had better stop responding to me. It won't be too hard to find out who you are, then you won't be so sure of yourself in beahving like an idiot.
@BeatleSongPlayer Hey, stupid, no one was challenging you to a battle of covers tunes, so why are you trying to toot your own horn? Your singing does suck!
@BeatleSongPlayer If you mean being blown up, then I'll gladly supply the dynamite, lite the fuse, and push the detonator. You and Terry deserve each other. I hope the day comes when you both die. The world will be a better place, and there will two more wastes of skin in hell.
Bull...Terry was sober and I highly doubt they would have 'let him' on the stage regardless. I laugh now when I see it. It all looks a bit funny and comical to me and that's cool cause it was a 'party' a 'celebration', not to be takin' so seriously...so it was all kind of fitting in it's own way.
terry was one of the hollies for a long tme.and without a doubt the best singer at this present time. what went on was a joke here. nash cant sing anymore neither can clark. terry could have handled all the songs with ease. They were all the hollies.check out stop stop stop 1969 live terry,s voice is great
@bmwnasher Take it from a Graham Nash fan -- the man's been singing like a bird for years with Crosby and Stills, his voice is agile though not as high, and his heart is in the right place. The problem here is that Sylvester was in no condition to get on stage and yet he did anyway. Had he been sober, Nash and Clarke would have no doubt invited him on stage even without a rehearsal.
Terry should have been invited to be on stage. It was 'his' night too! Nobody should have the right to keep any main member off. That should be a 'given'. Even the other guys...Bernie and Eric should also be somehow in the jam if they wanted to be. What's the big deal? Most people 'fans' would WANT to see that, and isn't that what a performance is for? It's 'one' night for ALL and ALL should be able to enjoy it. Somehow, things seemed to have been handled all wrong.
@ladybluluv Nobody was kept off. What was keeping Terry from asking if he could perform? This performance was planned at the last minute, and Fuse TV made some decisions on who could be performing. They did not decide to keep Terry, Bernie, or Eric because of a personal vendetta.
@Greenp1g: Terry was not meant to be onstage? A million people on stage who have NOTHING to do with the Hollies and Terry was not meant to be there? And what about Graham? The Rock 'n Roll Hall of Fame is only a bad joke! (The Hollies never were a Graham and Allan show...)
Neither Terry, nor Bernie, nor Eric were asked to perform. Graham planned this at the last minute because he didn't even know which members were going to be there. This was not meant to be the Graham and Allan show. Not every inductee performs. The backup band was hired to provide instrumentals for every performance.
@harrybyrd Neither Terry, nor Bernie, nor Eric were asked to perform. Graham planned this at the last minute because he didn't even know which members were going to be there. This was not meant to be the Graham and Allan show. Not every inductee performs. The backup band was hired to provide instrumentals for every performance.
Terry was not meant to be onstage. Let's not forget that LCW was written by Allan and was the only Hollies song without harmonies. I don't even think Sylvester was on the original recording as Allan played guitar on that and any extra parts would have been played by Tony Hicks. Sylvester looked and sounded drunk during his acceptance speech and just couldn't resist fucking it up for Allan and Graham. Allan did the right thing in giving the mic back to Pat who was personally invited by Graham.
Finally, the Hollies tribute they really deserve. Just a pity that not many of the musicians who have played there for more than four decades. Pat Monahan do a really great job with the LCW. Too bad that no more original crew was present, and let us have memories of their great era from 1962 to 2004. Too bad that Terry had to "borrow" a microphone to sing a little, he was after all a member of the group for 12 years. You finally got the tribute you deserve and have waited so long for.
I think it was pretty rude of Allan to get up on stage, uninvited, and steal the mic from Pat. He was asked to fly out specially for this performance, and even though he wasn't being honored with the rest of the guys he definitely deserved more respect than that. It's pretty clear Terry felt it was disrespectful, too, since he made a blatant show of handing the mic back to Pat.
I think it is fantastic to see Allan, Graham and Terry together, regardless of what happened. Still, I'm not sure I understand why Pat Monahan was singing, or why Terry didn't seem to be included. He replaced Graham and stayed for the long haul, deserving the award equally.
Thanks for posting this video. I saw the ceremony last night and it was fantastic to see Allan, Graham, Terry, Bernie, and Eric together again ! I know there are some rumblings about Terry singing a few lines from LCW but I'd had rather he sang the with Alan and Graham than Pat. Again, CONGRATS to The Hollies,so well deserved!

Ditto aceule. He handled the mic thing AND a little push too by that character. WOW, that was AMAZINGLY BIZARRE! He sorta meandered around until he couldn't stand it anymore and then decided that he needed a moment in the spotlight I guess. But his voice doesn't sound so good after hearing Pat's!
Just wonderful - What an emotional experience - Fantastic to see Allan, Graham and Terry on stage together and I just loved it when Terry took over lead vocals - Way to go lads - You are Legends !!! Thanks Ron !!!
Yes, but I don't think Allan, "loved" it! It was embarrassing to say the least! I Iove Terry but the spotlight and moment (LCW) should have been Allan's!
