Damn it - when I was in DC last October for the Jon Stewart rally, we had time to go to one museum on the last day. We chose the Museum of American History over the Natural History Museum.
Next time I go to DC this place is high on the list of priorities.
Ah, no need to mourn for the extinct animals, we still have plenty of awesome ones we are lucky to see today :) Lions, elephants, rhinos, horses, whales... Ah yeah the blue whale. Largest creature that EVER lived. So we're not missing out on anything that's larger than it.
And no need to lament the technology you won't live to see, cause we've got plenty of awesome stuff right now.
The smaller critter is a glyptodont, which is related to the armadillos still extant. It's primarily our ancestors who are responsible for them being extinct. Humans pretty much pushed all the megafauna outside of Africa into extinction. We didn't wipe out the stuff in Africa mostly because it had time to adapt as we evolved into ore effective predators.
Self indulgence..?! Hmm... if so, why not..? Is there a Youtube rule that forbids that?
Anyhow Greatbig, your videos are an interesting video-journal of a guy on an adventure (and you have a talent for editing; your stories are clear and informative -and occasionally funny [ I took the liberty to publish your Wall Street reports on Facebook; they proved proved to be inspirational ]).
I think that I remain to subscribe to your account for a bit.
Awesome museum. It would be so cool to see a live version of one of those creatures. Hell I'd settle for a living marsupial wolf. I'd only need to go back 100 years to see one of those.
Haha, oh monty python, how I love thee........."In the frozen land of Nador they were forced to eat Robin's minstrels. And there was much rejoicing....yay, yay"
I've NEVER seen an actual lab displayed in a museum like that. I would have been there half the day staring at the poor guy trying to work :) That's awesome! Thanks so much for sharing!
There was an episode of Dirty Jobs where Mike helps out a museum in LA with a similar lab. It was a museum associated with the La Brea tar pits, I can't remember the exact name. The clean tar off of fossils in full view of the public.
@AuntieDiluvian Kids, y'know... attention spans measured in nanoseconds. But as for me and MY house, I love these little tours, complete with the "director's commentary" track. :)
I TOTALLY agree with the idea of driving yourself mad wishing you could witness the past but for me more so wishing I could witness where humanity takes itself. Will the Religious nuts finally destroy America? Will the Ron Paul crowd finally figure out Ron Paul is only interested in individual rights when it comes to Federal Law but NOT State Law! What will replace capitalism once we figure out endless consumption will not work? So many questions so little time! LOL!
When you were talking about wanting to be able to go back in the past to see the creatures first hand, it reminded me of my favorite belief as a child. I was taught that when we died we would know everything, we would have all the answers.

'Masturbations chapter 9' is that part of the Apocrypha? Sounds stimulating.
rictusgate 4 months ago
You don't know your Masturbations well. The relevant info comes from chapter 8, not 9.
jdh501 4 months ago
@jdh501 It is clearly a revelationary prediction (as is Orals 3 to 12) of the events described in Orgasms 7.. by the way.

@studioROT The part where Jakoff steals Jism's birthright is very stimulating as well.

I wish we could show your tour of the Smithsonian to ever classroom in the USA. Your commentaries are precious.
"...the exact age of every one of these fossils is laid out in excruciating detail" Excruciating is the right word.
More museum tours please.

@EmmaDelamare Is this a sarcastic response to sarcasm? Or is this someone who doesn't understand sarcasm? We may never know.

So much I agree with you about the time travel when I see all the different creatures that God Created, I cant wait until he resurrects them all.
Note: Partial Sarcasm and Partial wishing it were true

@5pecular "resurrects them all"
When I was religious, I hoped that I could ask "god" for a time-traveling, faster-than-light spaceship.
