I have the same mobo. Sad part is I spent the money on a fancy case and 600w psu. Stuck using a p4 for now. I am looking to get a new cpu, there was just a bios update that made the board work with a Core 2 Quad Q9505(rev.R0,2.83GHz,1333FSB,L 2:6MB)
Anyone use this with this board yet?
Can you even run a 200s Nvidia card on this thing? I cant afford a whole i7 platform switch, so if anyone can help it would be cool
Funny thing is even with a p4, it still plays games alright with a bfg 8500gt
O man... You can run one... but if you want sli.. the sata connectors are in the way.... i accidently reaped one off when i installed my dual 250 gts. So.. the 200 series.... is kind of blown when you speak of sli... I had to install a new cooler on my 2nd 250 gts.. as the factory one.disturbed my sata things.
I recommend you to use a q6600. It has 8 mb of l2.When you put in sli... just take out the litle red ram thingy that is between the pci-e-es and put it in with the dual card head first.
2. I cant hibernate or standby in XP (not sure if thats cos of the mb but yeah)
3. Sometimes when I boot up I get messed up display.
my mate has this, and he bought 2 9600GS cards to run in SLI and he just gets a blank screen.
Another thing I didnt like about it was the installation for the drivers. It looks very amatuer. (almost like a keygen from a torrent) i didnt expect this from asus.Go with Intel mb
That sucks man. I have been very happy with mine. Working like a champ for the last few years. I just got my first i7 920 and looking to upgrade to a new board too.
Read my post again. I stated "I just got my first i7 920" You follow so far? Then I stated "Looking forward to upgrade to a new board too." Meaning: I will have to get a new board also. Most likely will go with the Rampage Extreme from ASUS. It's $400 here in Japan. :-P

Got the older version the p5n-sli not the e version. The one with the ancient Nforce4. Had to rig a socket A heatsink (slk-900a) 527g of copper only to get the nb to 336.8mhz but that is from only just from 300 with stock. For this board ditch stock cooler with the biggest you can get on to it and then it will push a q6600 to and past 3ghz.
Had it. Worked great for over a year then took a s#$t on me. Ordered another so I could do a straight swap. Worked ok for a couple months then took another S#@t. I have this Mortherboard and want to upgrade from my Asus 7600 GT card to a 9800GTX+ card I only want a single card so I wont use the SLI, will these huge new cards fit on this motherboard I have looked at the board and it looks ok the PCi slot seems unobstructed but just wanted to be sure before I buy. Anyone have this board and is running a single 9800 GTX+ card please let me know, cheers.
I've checked it....i'm gonna do the same thing...change from 7600GS to 9800GTX+...but not in SLI as u do so...and there's no prob about if it fits...it fits right there:P
Running P5N-d board in my huge Cosmos 1000 case with older 3.73 Extreme dual core that is OC'ed to 4.07ghz. Running two 8800GTX in SLI but getting silly stupid 3Dmark6 score of 2980.
Yes, using latest drivers etc. Any help on stepping up this 3Dmark6 score. Note- Runs stable at 59 degree C.

not to sure if maby i have a faulty graphics card after all, because people are going both ways on this topic. all i know is my 2x 8600gt work fine in sli but my 2x9800gt do not, i have up to date drivers & ive tryed each card seperately, i have plenty of power & a good cpu. im now w8ing on the P5N-D 750i sli board to arrive & i will c if it fix's the problem.

Course it will fit :) theres plenty of space between but im not to sure about the pci bellow the top pci-express slot so if you don,t have anything in there im sure you,ll be fine!
i have dis motherboard for only 70pounds, i cant believe i was gonna spend around 200pounds on a motherboard, the expensive 1s are just bloody inflated in price
i have this MOBO... i had the p5n sli and it died... i found this one... and i didnt have to reinstall xp... the drivers are vertually the same with some minor changes...
Please i need help, i own a asus p5n e sli, and i cant overclock my q6600 over than 2.7 ghz, all i want to do is set it @ 3.2 but mi mobo dont like it, please reply 2 this and help me! thx
its a 650i chipset the northbridge wich is the huge silver heatsink with asus on it i know its supposed to get warm but mine was roasting until i put a small fan on it also the southbridge has no cooling definetly get a cooler for that i would sugest a vantec for the southbridge its very important exspecially if your overclocking or playing crysis you could fry an egg on these things with no cooling and will effect performance
well my antec should be taking care of that lol i may buy another 120mm fan for my case cooling everything no sure its ok now and all the fan setting are on low.
i dont know if you would know but on the 9800gtx does the fan on the case of the gpu does it suck and exourst the air out the back or the other way ?
i believe the gtx is a dual slot cooler the fan sucks air in on the gpu processing unit and out the back of the case by the way all fraphics card fans blow in on the gpu unit
i definetly will by the way witch quad are you getting whatever it is make sure its revision is stepping go and not revision b2 b2 is good but stepping go is way better for overclocking i have a core2 e6600 b2 but both revisions are good
i thought it would be a q6600 get cpu-z it will tell you what revision it is im not really sure what the different revisions mean all i know is stepping go is better than revision b2why are you worried about hits on your page and subscribers is there something in it for you
umm i have a problem maybe the wrong video to post my comment on but ill post it any way, .. so i have an asus motherboard i've had it for a while its ok i try it for gaming and surfing the net and suddenly in the past weeks my computer has stoped working i found out it was the power supply so i replaced it with a 700watt power supply and now i have no visual coming from the monitor :
not that a own the asus motherboard, but considering you know that your PSU was the main problem that caused your computer to not working.. and you replaced it with 700watt power supply...just curious, how do you know 700 Watts PSU is needed? I'd like to know what your specification of your rig. I'm no expert to this but i know that OC, mine goes no where near necessary to 700 Watts. Just my thought of why it isn't working.
err i had same problem. u can assume its a random error when installing windows. simply boot to xp install cd and try installing same thing again with a full format...if this dosent work i would next look at wether or not your hard drive is damadged or playing hell with you. hope you fix it
I got this mobo in hopes of bulding a really good system for not so much, but I am now doubting my choices. My plans were to buy the Q9450, XFX 9800GTX, and Coirsair XMS2 800MHz RAM (already own). I really don't want to buy another, but with it not having PCIe 2.0, some reported issues with 45nm, & complaints about nVidia's "crappy" chipsets, I'm stuck. Should I get a newer board? If I do should I go with nVidia or Intel (no plans for SLI)?
Could anybody help me out-keeping in mind the price?
Never mind. I looked at what CompUSA had, and decided on the Asus P5N-D motherboard. Not a big upgrade, but for $30 more, I got the PCIe 2.0 and a newer chipset. So it's all good.
I'm having some problems with this motherboard, I'm running on a 32bit Vista with Corsair Twin 4g RAM, XFX GeForce 9600 GT and Intel Core 2 Duo E8400 3.0GHz, now, the issue is, the card freezes the computer, and gives me "the" bluescreen, I did a system recovery and yesterday I re-formatted the harddrive. Now, any ideas on what might be causing this?
just spend 50 bucks more and get better stability.
And about the pci-e slots not only are they 8x in sli but they are only pci-e 1.1 too. So when your are doing sli with for example 2 8800 gt's you get way less performance.
The motherboard also has a huge Vdroop and no south bridge cooling so it's not that great for overclocking.
lol dude i bough that mobo for 70euros... added a 4x4 led fan on the northbridge for 0.50euros and a copper heatsink on the southbridge for 1euro
so 71.50euros total cost and im running 2gb 1010mhz ram 3.3ghz e6300 and sli 8800GT's
i have tested all the same and on motherboards with sli x16 and pci-e 2.0 he gets 200 3Dmarks more on 3dmark06 ... thats sad cuz he is using ASUS M3N-HT DELUXE
this a cool board and runs my games, 3DS MAX and mudbox well with a core 2 but the only thing that shits me off about this MB is that the south bridge is left uncovered :( I'm gonna use sli soon with two xfx 8800 GT with I'm going to have zalman vga coolers on and even then I can't cover it...I may just get a second hand MB and rip out the southbridge and cut it down till it fits and glue it with thermal adhesive :'( either way what the hell was Asus thinking.
The other thing that will shit you off is that you can't use more than 2 sticks of RAM in dual channel mode on this board. It's a known issue that ASUS will not acknowledge, they try and blame the RAM. I use Maya, Mudbox, and Zbrush...so I wanted to use 6 gigs of RAM since Vista 64 uses 1.2 right off the bat and Zbrush can access up to 4096 alone. Good thing RAM is cheap these days, I just ordered 2GB x2 sticks of OCZ Reaper to hold me off until I upgrade to a board that works as advertised...
definatly easy to set up no problems and if u are on a budget like i am may i recommend the Q6600 its great for games (buy it the keepest u can find tiger or amazon are pretty cheep
Also the bfg nvidia geforce 9600 OC2 from tiger its only 150 bucks with rebate and it is better then a most of the 8800
and u can;t beat it for the price.
since the mobo only takes 800 mhz ddr 2 so get 4 gb nvidia 800 mhz sli memory
(i just got some from tiger for 70 bucks after rebate 2 sticks 2 gb each.
corsair xms2 dhx with corsair dominator airflow fan running at 1010mhz
i have 4x4 blue led fan on the northbridge and its very silent and on the southbridge a copper small heatsink and my processor was 1.8ghz and now runs at 3.3ghz so i guess this is a very good motherboard for everything not only budget
have you guys seen the reviews on newegg? (just mainly pointing out on the one/two star reviews) I just wanted to know if they are doing something wrong when building it or is it partly Asus' fault as well?
Hey, ive got a question,IF i put in 2 graphics cards in SLI, Can i till use the 1Xspeed PCIE slot? Or will it be covered. I plan to use the 9600GT and plug in a sound card as well...
i love my psn-e sli 650i mobo. i've heard bad things about sli but i don't care. I plan to always have one beast of a video card instead of 2 lessers(hoping to upgrade to 8800 gtx soon with the price drops). right now i'm overclocking my e6750 to 3.2 to match my pc6400 memory sticks.
I have a computer that had hardwareissues due to the fact that it was overheating and restarting while i was asleep (the power supply fan failed). some peices of the computer have issues now, likely the RAM or Hard drive or both. I'mtakingthe dual core processor out of there and putting it into this motherboard (featured in the video); would it be a bad idea to use old peices from a computer that had overheating issues? if the processor is faulty could it do further damage to the motherboard?
Hey guys I can add 2x550 ti sc
On this motherboard asus p5n-e with Q9650 at 3.0ghz??

Very poor for quad overclocking, because of 3 phase power mosfets for CPU.you will be very lucky to get a q6600 past 3ghz.

AlannTH 3 years ago
Course it will fit :) theres plenty of space between but im not to sure about the pci bellow the top pci-express slot so if you don,t have anything in there im sure you,ll be fine!

hey can someone help ?
ive got a 650i sli motherboard dell to be exact got it off a friend lol
will i be able to run a 9800gtx on this board due to the board is pci-e and the gpu is pcie 2.0 ?
thanks
lordgeorgemaster 3 years ago
absolutely it is backwards compatible it will just run at pci-e1.1 speeds
asus3571 3 years ago
thanks dude that means that performace will very slightly decreased ?
lordgeorgemaster 3 years ago
yes but not much just make sure you have good cooling the board run hot
asus3571 3 years ago
yeah ive got more than enough cooling lol
whats that the board chipset that gets warm ?
lordgeorgemaster 3 years ago
its a 650i chipset the northbridge wich is the huge silver heatsink with asus on it i know its supposed to get warm but mine was roasting until i put a small fan on it also the southbridge has no cooling definetly get a cooler for that i would sugest a vantec for the southbridge its very important exspecially if your overclocking or playing crysis you could fry an egg on these things with no cooling and will effect performance
asus3571 3 years ago
well my antec should be taking care of that lol i may buy another 120mm fan for my case cooling everything no sure its ok now and all the fan setting are on low.
i dont know if you would know but on the 9800gtx does the fan on the case of the gpu does it suck and exourst the air out the back or the other way ?
lordgeorgemaster 3 years ago
i believe the gtx is a dual slot cooler the fan sucks air in on the gpu processing unit and out the back of the case by the way all fraphics card fans blow in on the gpu unit
asus3571 3 years ago
yeah thanks thats good not like cooling is a problem or heat for that matter but i know some gpus go the opposite way carnt name them though lol
you aught to check out my page and look out for when i update in the nest week for the quad but the gpu will be added friday
lordgeorgemaster 3 years ago
i definetly will by the way witch quad are you getting whatever it is make sure its revision is stepping go and not revision b2 b2 is good but stepping go is way better for overclocking i have a core2 e6600 b2 but both revisions are good
asus3571 3 years ago
i am realy loosing it lol
wtf is revisions ?
ime getting a q6600
cool i want to get as many subscribers and views i can possibly get lol
lordgeorgemaster 3 years ago
i thought it would be a q6600 get cpu-z it will tell you what revision it is im not really sure what the different revisions mean all i know is stepping go is better than revision b2why are you worried about hits on your page and subscribers is there something in it for you

umm i have a problem maybe the wrong video to post my comment on but ill post it any way, .. so i have an asus motherboard i've had it for a while its ok i try it for gaming and surfing the net and suddenly in the past weeks my computer has stoped working i found out it was the power supply so i replaced it with a 700watt power supply and now i have no visual coming from the monitor :
it is not the AVG cable
it is not the monitor (works with my laptop)
any thoughts on what my problem is ?
beautravismoroney 3 years ago
not that a own the asus motherboard, but considering you know that your PSU was the main problem that caused your computer to not working.. and you replaced it with 700watt power supply...just curious, how do you know 700 Watts PSU is needed? I'd like to know what your specification of your rig. I'm no expert to this but i know that OC, mine goes no where near necessary to 700 Watts. Just my thought of why it isn't working.

Could anybody help me out-keeping in mind the price?
felipeohyeah 3 years ago
Never mind. I looked at what CompUSA had, and decided on the Asus P5N-D motherboard. Not a big upgrade, but for $30 more, I got the PCIe 2.0 and a newer chipset. So it's all good.
felipeohyeah 3 years ago
can you have 2 Asus GeForce 9800GTX 512MB GDDR3, PCI-Express 2.0, 2xDVI-I/HDCP on this motherboard? plz reply i want to know i might buy it!

Burdjur 3 years ago
what is your power supply rated?
you setup looks pretty power hungry so make sure it is above 450, if not, maybe it is because you computer takes up too much power

dude yes u can
buy them and put them on the bios at 1010 thats the max speed i can run my corsair's
but they are overclocked to 1010 so maybe u can actually run them at 1060
ninjahua 3 years ago
I have this MB as well. My main problem is the GIG lan went out after about 6 months.
pimp3d 3 years ago
Don't buy it
it's really not that great.
just spend 50 bucks more and get better stability.
And about the pci-e slots not only are they 8x in sli but they are only pci-e 1.1 too. So when your are doing sli with for example 2 8800 gt's you get way less performance.
The motherboard also has a huge Vdroop and no south bridge cooling so it's not that great for overclocking.
fickie321 3 years ago
lol dude i bough that mobo for 70euros... added a 4x4 led fan on the northbridge for 0.50euros and a copper heatsink on the southbridge for 1euro
so 71.50euros total cost and im running 2gb 1010mhz ram 3.3ghz e6300 and sli 8800GT's
i have tested all the same and on motherboards with sli x16 and pci-e 2.0 he gets 200 3Dmarks more on 3dmark06 ... thats sad cuz he is using ASUS M3N-HT DELUXE
ninjahua 3 years ago
im sorry i got no freakin clue what the euro to dollars are
TheAcesniper 3 years ago
hehe (: 1 Euro = 1.5762 U.S. dollars
ninjahua 3 years ago
i bought this mobo for 70 U.S. dollars
TheAcesniper 3 years ago
and now do what i said
new northbridge or a 4x4 fan on it
and a heatsing on the south bridge and u will have an awesome motherboard
ninjahua 3 years ago
this a cool board and runs my games, 3DS MAX and mudbox well with a core 2 but the only thing that shits me off about this MB is that the south bridge is left uncovered :( I'm gonna use sli soon with two xfx 8800 GT with I'm going to have zalman vga coolers on and even then I can't cover it...I may just get a second hand MB and rip out the southbridge and cut it down till it fits and glue it with thermal adhesive :'( either way what the hell was Asus thinking.
Tristansletter 3 years ago
The other thing that will shit you off is that you can't use more than 2 sticks of RAM in dual channel mode on this board. It's a known issue that ASUS will not acknowledge, they try and blame the RAM. I use Maya, Mudbox, and Zbrush...so I wanted to use 6 gigs of RAM since Vista 64 uses 1.2 right off the bat and Zbrush can access up to 4096 alone. Good thing RAM is cheap these days, I just ordered 2GB x2 sticks of OCZ Reaper to hold me off until I upgrade to a board that works as advertised...
gonzo1275 3 years ago
...or until the Asus people that write the bios updates for these boards put down the game controllers and whip up a fix in the next update.
gonzo1275 3 years ago
yeh but u cud just use it for a budget gaming rig
camz2008 3 years ago
definatly easy to set up no problems and if u are on a budget like i am may i recommend the Q6600 its great for games (buy it the keepest u can find tiger or amazon are pretty cheep
TheAcesniper 3 years ago
would a Radeon HD 4850 be good too? i've heard it does better than the 9800 GTX
BazzTheBoss 3 years ago
what only 800mhz?
corsair xms2 dhx with corsair dominator airflow fan running at 1010mhz
i have 4x4 blue led fan on the northbridge and its very silent and on the southbridge a copper small heatsink and my processor was 1.8ghz and now runs at 3.3ghz so i guess this is a very good motherboard for everything not only budget
