  • this woman's voice is the best

  • Such great songwriters.

  • The best Dutch band! We've been to their concert several times. Love it!

  • I saw them on a show a looong time ago.. hiliting RIOT GRRRRLS... and I was SIMPLY BLOWN AWAY~~ STILL A CLASSIC!!!!

  • .... it's a dude's world...what can ya say

  • Why is there so little cool music like this now? Argh.

  • @mikedrud i SOOOOO AGREEEE!!!! Argh is right!!!!!

  • @mikedrud There's always great music to be found; you just have to look for it yourself. You're not going to get it on the radio. You'll have to dig for it. But you can always find enough great stuff to make it worth the effort.

  • i still remember getting this the day it came out.. this and velocity girl's copacetic was my favorite albums for that yr.. just couldnt stop listening to it...can't believe it's been over 15 yrs..damn...lol

  • @fugbo Copacetic is one of my all time fav albums.

  • I hope they keep making music.

  • Great memories from early 90's! I'm from Brazil and i remember this amazing song, 1992, 1993!

I used watch this video in a brazilian MTV program called "B-Side" (in portuguese, "Lado B"), at sunday nights, by the way, exactly like right now. The brazilian program was very similar to the american MTV program "120 Minutes" .

They are from Holland, aren't they?

If i am not wrong, i guess they are from Rotterdam.

The dutch music got a fantastic quality!

    Congratulations!

  • it's a loooooong time ago, but i still remember the day i bought the palomine album. imho it's a true classic.

  • As much as I like Carol and Bettie, they can't hold a candle to Tanya Donelly and Belly. I really miss them. Only 2 CD's to remember them by. I guess 2 is better than none. By the the way, I love Carol's Hofner guitar. ( I'm a guitar geek! )

  • Great song indeed, a true 90ies classic!

  • They are one of my fav. bands ever!

  • dudes in the vid are clearly stoned. gotta love it.

  • i heart bettie serveert. palomine was the soundtrack of some good years. she's a babe to boot! still kill it live, too. herman b. delivers the best bass lines in indie rock, bar none BTW.

  • Carol and her band are still amazing after all these years

  • ihr seids doch nimma ganz sauber!!

  • One of the signature modern rock songs of the 90's....classic, thanks for posting!!!

  • Ja, af en toe werd er nog wel mooie muziek gemaakt in Arnhem..

  • A great song from one of the best records of the 1990's... brought back some memories. Thanks for posting it.

  • This song is really cool. I just found it here on YT. But does anyone know why it is called Tomboy?

  • Cause only a tom boy, can stand above it.

  • I started listening to BS with Dust Bunnies and am still looking for a better band with catchy tunes and smart lyrics. And a hot singer. thanks for the video!

  • She has a Höfner guitar.

  • Great band, great sound, great songs. The fact that Carol is so very pretty and attractive is just icing on the cake. Whoever gets serenaded by her is one lucky person!

  • Great, great tune. Is there a female lead singer on the planet hotter than Carol? The answer is NO.

  • sorry- love her , but ...tonya donelly (belly) and Harriet Wheeler (the Sundays)

  • I love Carol too, but I have to agree that Harriet Wheeler's combination of looks and voice make her the better choice.

  • ahhhhh Harriet! sigh

  • Thank you!

  • love them serveert! slack rockers from the crypt!

  • ha hahaha

  • Some melodies just stick. The chord progression and the song just fits into a perfect piece. I don't think even the best musician (or composer) in the world can come up with something like this often. Let alone once. Amazing.

  • Aquest grup m'encanta.

    I love this band.

    Obožujem to skupino.

  • Had the pleasure of seeing them in 2004, in Tempe AZ at a little shithole bar. Maybe 75 people were in the place. A crying shame. They put on a great show. Had the honor of sharing a drink and conversation with Carol before and after the show. Charming and accessible to the end.

  • Lucky. I want to meet them someday.

  • I get chills every time I hear this track. It's a beautiful glimpse of what the Betties can do when they are firing on all cylinders. Lamprey and Dust Bunnies have several tracks of this caliber, but Palomine is worth having for this one fantastic tune. I concur with the others who've mentioned the quality of a Bettie live show...among my favorite bands to see live.

  • Although Arcade Fire is my favorite band, according to my last fm I play the Betties the most out of all the CDs I have. I only have two of their CDs though. I want Palomine so badly it almost hurts.

  • Aaaand the Betties have scrabbled their way to the top to become my new favorite band, after I bought two more of their CDs.

  • she looks like my dutch ex.

  • bettie serveert forever ......f j v

  • linda linda linda

  • Didn't you just love the dipshits in the record stores that filed their cds under "s" because they thought "serveert" was a last name? My niece got into this and she's 10. All the brats will think she's cool now. (She thought the cover was "sooo cute")

  • In Portland, I've only seen their CDs at Music Millennium (best music store ever) and they're under the B's. Also, your niece wins everything ever. I wish I'd discovered indie-rock when I was ten.

  • A little update, Everyday Music in Portland has a larger selection of Bettie CDs--also in the Bs--in fact I got the majority of them there.

  • theme song!

  • Go Bettie

    Caro's got an amazing voice.

  • Anyone who likes Bettie Serveert has to be really cool.

  • They are! Had a smoke with Carol and crew outside Cafe Du Nord in San Francisco a couple of years ago; as nice and as cool as could be!

  • I love this song. I wonder if she listened to Judee Sill, her vocal style/sound is so similar?

  • I only ever bought the palomine album( which I still love), but I think they're one of the best live acts I've seen!

  • Bettie To Serve....Ive been listening for years to them. Still just as good as in 89

  • Wow,love this song, listened to it a million times, great dutch band and still going strong !

  • best song ever...
