Simon called LA on it, and usually LA has retorts but this time he didnt becuz he knew Simon was right. He sacrificed Marcus so as not to split the votes between Chris & Marcus. This is a repeat of what he did to Philip with the Monkees song. He wants to be the winning judge despite the cost.

But L.A, Simon and Nicole have all sabatoged one of their own at some point for another that they see as their golden ticket. Simon did it to Rachel AND Drew for Melanie. Nicole did it to Stacy for Josh. L.A. did it to Marcus for Chris. I don't know if the mentoring has been a good thing...

@1981Galadriel I concur can they play both roles? Simon surprised me this week by actually being positive with Josh. However for weeks they've contradicted each other & made unnecessary comments. As a mentor can you recognize your proteges weakness & correct it or do you ignore it & belittle your opponent so as to even the playing field. As for Nicole in all fairness both Leroy & Stacy have had exposure in the industry, they have had opportunities the remaining ones haven't something's missing.

@texashawke That is true about Stacy and Leroy, and if anything, that knowledge being released was likely their downfall (in terms of raw talent, I thought the over 30s were the best). I know them mentoring is what makes this different from Idol, but if they have to keep it, maybe they should do a rotation so that each judge gets a shot at each group. That would lessen the attachment on both sides.

@1981Galadriel To even the playing field once the live shows begin, since in fact the judges are competing for bragging rights they should be judged as well. To eliminate the conflict & contraversy that surrounded the 1st season the lowest votes should determine the outcome. Simon & LA have no qualms bout rejecting someone, their careers depend on selecting a marketable performer. Paula & Nicole know what it's like to be on that side making it difficult.

I don't understand all the hate. XFactor is about finding a CURRENT artist. All these contestants who "pay homage" to the originals from 70s/80s can get all the support they want and win the comp, but when they get out there as an artist, they'll fail miserably.
