people get so stuck on what genre applies to a particular band it gets that it just gets fucking ridiculous. try thinking of genres as 'describing words' rather than something that is definitive of a band. otherwise, it is the implication that a genre has a predefined sound that cant be molded and altered, which obviously isn't true or everything would sound the same.
@FaintestFusion there's a bunch of generic band that sound the same as another bunch of bands in today's modern post hardcore and they make no effort to distinguish their sound. Probably why I like Glassjaw and many others prior to a lot of scene kids jumping the post hardcore/deathcore/metalcore bandwagon like Thrice, At The Drive-In, The Blood Brothers, Thursday, Funeral For A Friend. They don't sound the same but today's band, yes. And by prior not the Fugazi era.

I really hate to name a genre for a band as much as the next guy but I hate it more when someone miss-label the band even more. Glassjaw is POST HARDCORE, their one of the pioneer band that shape the modern sound of POST HARDCORE, along with Thrice, Blood Brothers, Thursday and At The Drive-In.

Listen to bands like Amanda Woodward, Ampere, Circle Takes the Square, City of Caterpillar PG.99 or just be simple and just type skramz in the youtube search bar. Just because it's anger and anxiety or angst and it has scream it's emo. Sometimes stereotypes is just so God damn annoying
