Red carapace (Red gore base, blood red highlight, blazing orange extreme highlight) and green skin (snot green base, goblin middle layer and scorpion highlights).
I'm going for the SpaceHulk colour scheme, purple skin. blue bone (or a hues of that) I've not attempted anything bigger then a lictor yet. I'm worried about how my Monstrous creatures will look :(
Has anyone seen any other examples like this on the net? Is so please send me a link... might be something BTP could experiment with :) show me how it's done.
my color scheme is : green flesh, purple armor(knarlock green and goblin green, hormagaunt purple and liche purple) has a alien look, picked it up at a GW store in the UK
I like my Tyranids realistic looking. Also one thing you didn't bring up is that insects often have bright colours on their armour, While their soft spots are kinda dark and less visible. My point is that the bright spots attracts the attacker to focus on the wrong places. I think this applies to the Tyranid's aswell. Nice video!
well i have to say that the all black works if done right, my friend dose that with green tongues and stuff then dips it in a brown wood stain and it gives it a nice shine. they look like the bugs from Aliens the movie
I'm painting mine with Catachan Green for flesh and Chaos Black carapace. drybrushed carapace with Bleached Bone and of course talons also Bleached Bone. I also do 50/50 water/catachan green on the talons to make them look dirty and "swampy" :P
doing the tyranids black with a light carapet sound good with the muscle bits in blue or green sounds good.. almost "Alienl" i aint painted any tyranids tho but i think thats wat they would be going for instead of the "beetle look"
I challenged myself by using just an all red-yellow-orange palette of colors. The skin is a dark crimson red (scab red with some blood red spots) The carapace is done by stippling and shading. It really is time consuming.
I am still painting up my nids... in about 1200 points in (2000 total) they are the HF.B scheme, with the read skin and blue shells... they look great.. but the down side is there not as fun to paint as tau or SM or eldar, which alow for some uniqueness in the units.
By god I love playing my nids more than my Dark angles though..
Large MC deepstrikers and shitloads of flyers tied with terv. spawnd gaunts and tyranofex gun support + DoM. not the best torny list, but fun to play.
My Tyranids are all melee and in an Icy Arctic color theme. They are a VERY pale blue with WHITE carapaces. The claws, talons, fangs, and hooves are also a very light gray.
I did lots of conversions too! My Lictors are all white and kinda covered in snow since they have chameleon skin I wanted them to blend with the snow. One looks like its bursting from underneath a frozen lake and he's covered in a bit of ice :D
My nids have a yellow skin built up from mild browns, giving them a natural skin tone. While their 'shells' are black with a bright, distinct red line down the middle. Gives them character. the brown undercoats work really well in giving shadow deception. Those are some nice looking nids
beetle, thats a good idea for nid carapace, maybe a dark blue or dark violet and then add alot of blending of rainbow colors to give it a shinny beetle look.....if that makes since?
can you do one for lizardmen, i just bought the battleforce boxset and everything other than the skin, armour plates and sheilds are painted, i dont want to do blue as i did that a few years ago on a different lizardmen army.... PLEASE HELP ME!!!!!!! pics of colour schemes would be AWSUME
I think you should make a bluetablepainting special addition minitures, like make minitures dedicated to blue table painting, you can make logos and it would just be awesome
Yeah, the natural thing is important. I read some books on bugs before i painted mine, and came up with light/dark scheme. Not too realistic, that just doesn't work like you said, but something a bit like real bugs. So my point was, go with light/dark contrast.
i hv cool ideas for a nds and marines scheme so if u need ideas just pm me
