  • I Had a small one like this is my goldfish tank.

and i put my hand in to take something out of the water and it stuck on my hand and i had a fucking freak out.

  • Naw, I don't think this tank is too small!

My mom's tank is horribly small for her poor pleco! A 29 gallon!! Poor thing hits the side of the tank when it gets spooked or tries turning around :/ I'll post a vid and show you how mean it is :(

After I post the vid, you should help me with an argument on how to move the poor thing to my 55 gallon! I'd really like advice from someone like you, who knows what they are doing! It would help a lot, thanks!

  • GEEEEEEZ US

  • I have one in my tank but its 20 times smaller :]

  • my pleco 3" long was attacked by my flowerhorn which is also 3" long..could ne1 suggest what size pleco should i buy? my flower horn is apprx 3 to 4" long

  • amazazing! Its huge

  • Do you know the people you sold him to, if so is it still alive?

  • And they live for how long?

  • Nice, I caught some nice big plecos like this once in Trinidad.

  • That is EPIC shit

  • i had a pleco (leopard pattern) it got to 23inch! it stopped growing after 11yrs of having him. his tank mates were 3 tiger oscas . the pleco attacked one of the osca's and skinned it alive....rasped with its mouth all the skin off it's body. they lived fine with each other for 5yrs. but....these things can turn and develop a savage nature. . all 3 oscas were over a ft long.

  • Maximus Plecostomus LOL

That fish could kick Russel Crowe's arse all day long!

I have a pleccy about 14/15" long and it rises to the top to feed, free swimming backwards at an angle. I swear the smaller plec I had before I got this one has watched and learned how to do that too.

I'd be interested in finding out if anybody else has seen these (beautiful) fish do that.

    Nice vid :o)

  • holy shit i was gonna get one for my 20gallon tank but now this video scared the crap out of me.

  • omg it's watching you!

  • that is one sexy fish!

  • Beautiful fish!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :) I have a quick question. I own a 55 Gal with a puffer(fugu) he is Very small, along with a Pacu, Ghost knife and a brown knife. A co worker wants to give me his fairly Large Plico...are they aggressive fish?

  • I two large 1000 gallon in ground freshwated ponds and need to find a few very large plecos. Does anyone know where to get them in south florida?

  • damn thats one big pleco, you got any recent pictures of him at the boat store pond? if hes still alive, i bet hes over 22"s

  • @ifukzwitmy9mmcuhzz

That's what I did, you can do what ever you think is best. :-)

  • @PlecoPlace well i got some oscars and one 14 in pleco @silversteak siad plecos eat glutton and kill your fish

  • I love mine, its got some right speed on him, when i put his algea wafer things in, all the other fish got straight for it and it just shoots straight across the tank scaring them all away then eats it its hilarious.

  • what??? sold for 20 $??? that thing is atleast like 200$.....

  • @evothefool

In San Diego you can't give them away. They are too common.

  • @evothefool there called common plecos for a reason and when you got a big common 20 bucks its fair..200 is crazy no offense..

  • @evothefool Not really. You can catch a sucker fish that size in a river or a regular pond.

  • Yay pleco!

  • Wow, beautiful pleco! My uncle had one, but not nearly that large!

  • iv got a 5 inch plecostumus in a 55 gallon tank its only 6 months old

  • my pleca just sitson the back of my filter..and doesnt move often, anythin to be worried about?

  • thats one healthy looking pleco :]

    i like the music too

  • idk you but i find pleco d ugliest fish eveer, specially those flat black color and dark.... specially when they grow that big.... but good job with getting him that big

  • Are You Not Entertained?!

  • @andmat757

    Good One!

  • beautiful pleco. mine went from 1.5 inches to 11 in 2 years. vegetables every evening and partial water change every day.

  • Good god !

  • that pleco is heeeeealthy lol

  • how long did it take for the pelco to be 19 in please answer

  • @DAyumiTsADaM

    Please read description.

  • @PlecoPlace i just got mine 2 days ago....my tanks only a month old....i bought algae wafers but he doesnt seem to eat them....wat should i do? put one in every night or?

  • whenever i put Cucumber or Zuchini in the tank my platys and guppies go ape shit and start eating it when it was meant for my pleco -.- he gets bullied by the smaller fish and i havnt caught him eating in ageeess. he hides behind the uv filter!! thats all he does!!!!

  • @mishpants They're supposed to be nocturnal, so he's probably eating at night. You should put the food in just before turning off the light of the tank, and that will hopefully encourage him to eat.

  • i love plecos but sadly my last couple have been killed. and my largest one jumped out of the tank :( i want to get more but i dont want to see them die

  • its a sub, its a shipwreck, its an underwater gorilla, its, its, ITS A HUGE ASS PLECO. haha but really nice pleco dude. mines 11 inches in a 55 gallon right now

  • a really brilliant specimen of a pleco it brings back memorys when i had two one 10" and the other 11" they were in a 4ft tank but died recentley i didnt know the cause and i was frustrated because i had them for a long time now i have an 8" one i have to say tho how comes you sold it for $20 i would of thought it would be alot more?

  • I got a Pleco about 2 days ago, he's already an adult (about 25cm long), and he won't come out of his hiding spot at all, his tank mates are 2 friendly Jack dempsey's and 2 Angel fish, any tips on making him feel more safer or happier in his new tank?

  • @TheHungis

Mine was shy too when he was tiny. But as he grew he became more aggressive. At one point he shared the tank with two 8 inch Red Devils. That made him tough. :-)

  • Bro my pleco is going crazy I need your help!! Its eyes are sunken in and its trying to swim out of the tank!!

  • should i feed my pl*co algae tabs everyday or every other day or every week please reply

  • should i feed my pl*co algea tabs everyday or every week?

  • loving the music

  • today i found my pleco out of the water after doing water changes. he was dried up and so but i put him back into the bowl instantly and he swam but i came back into the room to se him floating but then again i saw him back at the bottom. everytime i come in hes in a differnt place but his fins are a bit torn but not majorly, just enough to see they are. will he be ok? he was out for less then a hour or 2 i would beleive.

  • ...don't put your plecos in the tank with other fishes. it eats like a glutton leaving your other fishes starving. i had this bad experience with plecos. they also created a problem in one of our river banks when they over multiplied. they also devoured the fishermen's fish eggs and left the river only with their own specie. they were actually uncontrollable as they multiply so fast. they are now considered as pests.

  • @Silverstreak2000

It took a long time to sell my Pleco and I came very close to letting him go free in the San Diego river. However, he was bought in the nick of time.

  • wow, very impressive fish, my Pleco is only 25cm long atm, hope he grows to be as big as yours :D, good vid

  • thanks for the advise

  • most epic music in a video ever

  • HMM my water is sometimes dirty sometimes clean will it still grown please respond i want it to grow my filter SUCKS.!

  • Nice video!

(You could have got more than $20 for that big fish)

  • @bautroi70 i know huh

  • cool

  • My 6 inch pleco died today.. :l

    I'm not sure why..

  • just a couple of days ago i went fishin at a near by lake here in florida and i found the biggest pleco ive ever seen!!! (btw i own 2 of them in my indoor fishtank, thier still only 2 inches) but the one at the lake was lethargic and didnt move of the shore.. he didnt even try to swim away wen i put my hand in thier to grab him.. but i noticed he had a small cut on his underbelly that already was getting infected.. so i decided to put him in back in the water.. man.. poor little fellow..

  • That's a common pleco. Common plecos look better than spotted plecos but they grow much larger which is my deal breaker.

  • Fuck, that bitch is HUGE! I've only got like 4 albino catfish and a peppermint! They recently spawned. BUT FUCK! THAT BITCH IS HUGE!!

  • Thanks for the tips on these fish

  • in the philippines they kill pleco cuz they'r destroying river and lakes and eating some fish eggs now on they r the most populated fish in the philippines

  • my pleco is in a 5 gallon tank is it gonna be ok for 2 years plz answer?

  • @TheResistanceNation

nope , a pleco wouldnt be ok for 2 years in a 5 gallon tank

it could stunt growth which could lead to other problems

also it depends on the pleco species (there are hundreds)

  • @TheResistanceNation

If you have no other choice than keep the water very clean by over filtering and weekly 10% water changes. The Pleco you see in this video started off in a 5 gallon tank. :-)

  • @PlecoPlace hi im moving in about a week and i have an 7 inch pleco which as never been caught or moved from my tank and i want to know how to properly catch him and what should i put him in during the process of setting up the tank, i have no other smaller tanks so what should i do?

  • @fitbikerider459 So did you find out how to move it in time? I read something once that said that you're supposed to take out like 75% of the water in the tank and then move the fish in the tank as fast as possible, and when you get to your destination, just put the water back in. Is that what you did?

  • @PlecoPlace i have a question ok i have a 30 gallon tank and a top fin power 60 filter so it cleans the tank pretty good BUT i put u[ to 3 algae wafers a day for my 7-8 inch pleco and goes right when i drop them in, does that mean there is no algae for him to eat or what. and also i have notcied that he goes really fast for 1 sec then stops and one time he was on the glass and i was watching him then he came off the glass and turned 90 degrees and sort of twitched and swam really fast he did thA

  • how, exactly, do you feed a pleco steamed broccoli? i'm really curious

  • Wow he is amazing a true work of nature's beauty. I envy you got to be in his presence

  • that is a cool black pleco. i only have a baby one.

  • mine ate the flakes that i feed my koi and goldfish it even went to the top to eat them so i would say they do

  • do i need to feed a pleco? i have tons of algae and a (dead fish somewhere) is that enough to keep him healthy until it cleans out? will it eat the flakes i feed my glofish? please respond if you have a moment

  • @zunedog31 if you want somthing to clean algea buy a scraper.

yes you should feed them some sinking wafers plecos are used to having eating alot with out high nurtitional contence so give him some lettuce cucomber carrots and have fun with it my rubber lip liked nectarines among other things you can just tie their food to somthing that sinks and sink it or boil it quickly in dechlorinated water but the sinking is easier

  • @zunedog31 you can give them some algae wafers!

  • @zunedog31 ur supposed to remove a fish when it dies, it can poisen ur water and disease ur tank and kill all ur fish.

and if ur tanks covered in algea and u still have a pleco CLEAN IT!

and its best to give them Algea Discs. it'll take em alwhile to eat em but once they do they'll love em lol, n also Cucumber slices are good for em to .

  • @zunedog31 yes you need to feed the pleco. you should feed it zuchinni or othe rvegetables. just poke em with a fork so they sink. pleco cannot survive off of algae only and will starve

  • @zunedog31

Ours doesn't bother at all with goldifsh flakes, it just eats algea all day. That said we have a lot algea and were not sure if were are to feed it the tablet looking things, but I guess not.

  • i had always thought they were called pasotamas lol

  • I have 2 plecos in one tank and one in another they got lazy when they got bigger though.

  • make more vids!

  • someone can tell me if plecostomus is able to eat green algae?

I intend green algae spurt out from south american plants like echinodorus and alternanthera red!

  • i bet u could have sold that for 50 with good bargin but still nice!

  • Shit that fish is BIG.

  • I personally think you have this pleco in a great size tank. When you said that your pleco was in a tank i thought i was gonna see it in like a 20 gallon or something crazy like that. But yeah this tank look pretty big enough for him if ya ask me ;)

  • can you tell me what yours or any pleco eats other than tank algae because once thats all gone then what i want one for my 10 gallon because in my 20 gallon he would be bullied by my crayfish or bluegill please helpthe 10 will only be for him

  • can you please tell me what happens if a plecos nose cover is missing??

if you dont understand i can explain!

    please help me!

  • is it true if you put small fish in there like tetras he'll eat them?

  • plecos are super freaks...super freaks...they're supa freeeaaaky...

  • I bought one of these two days ago. I've been after one for a long time but the shop I get my fish and plants from only stocked fully grown ones and in tropical tanks. The woman had cold water ones and I just had to get one. Will it grow to this size if I give him the suitable conditions? I'm saving for a bigger tank with a stand (My current tanks sit on the floor in my bedroom)

I was told in my local petshop that they only grow to 5inches yet the ones in the aqua shop are massive monsters!

  • nice fish......

  • Lovely fish!

  • you should have sold it for way more

  • its reel and awsome

  • wow meh fran has on and hes lyk 14 inches long i dont think ima get one

  • i gotta pleco and i was just wonderin how big was urs when u first got it? they told me mine was a "rubber lip"? idk but they said somewhere from 2 to almost 3 feet long it cld grow

  • @bobbyhill789

    Please read my description.

  • @bobbyhill789 If by rubber lip, they meant the Rubber Pleco, aka Bulldog Pleco, then they're one of the smaller species, also one of the best. They only grow to about five inches, max. Generally no more than four.

A lot of people at fish stores don't know shit, and think every pleco's the same. Plecos only grow depending on the size of their tank. Though, stunting (due to tank size) can take a serious toll on its health, these guys can grow to an average of two feet in a large enough tank.

  • @Randymyr well mine was a inch and he was in there for 2 months and grew to 5 inches luckily i got a 30 gallon now hes 6.5 inches and still growing

  • Its scary how those little offspring of the plecostomus can turn into such monsters.

  • I just recently got one and he freaks me out. He was just standing straight up not moving or breathing LOL I thought he was dead. When I tried to take him, because I thought had died, he started going crazy. LOL Do they act like that all the time?

  • @yelloke2006

That brings back funny memories. :-)

As they get bigger that happens less.

  • @yelloke2006 yes mine stands on its fins you get used to it

  • This fish creeps me out. I got one in my tank and i dont have the guts to pick it up.

  • @iezzzwan Its perfectly safe. The best way to move these fish from one tank to another is by hand.

  • if you put like some guppies or tetras in there it would look awsome

  • @DEMERTRICE hahah the tetras would look like ants next to it but it would look cool i rekon

  • Wow I think you could have gotten a lot more than 20 dollars for it.

  • @1992pattrow

    Cry me a river . . . :-)

  • how big of a tank would i need if i were to get one? i dnt know anything about big tanks nor about how and when to clean them :) please tell me

  • SHARK!!! lol awwwww what a lovely plecco!!! :) glad to hear he is in a nicer place :) and i didnt know that about 'the cleaner the water the bigger they grow' hmmm interesting =) Ive turned my filter off because theres little baby fish and i didnt want them getting sucked into the filter, suppose i better get a filter suited to both the plecco and the babies eh? :P

  • we have a pleco and she is 16 inches we have a 200 gallon tank and she is only 3 years old we also have and angel fish that is very big and we have three filters in the tank will our pleco keep growing until she outgrows the tank?

  • @Singaholic93

    I would think so.

  • yuor Pelecos is very beautiful :)

  • its so sweet. but the tank is almost empty. maybe you should take plants in it, if he lifes still ;)

  • he's gorgeous!! i love plecs! (can't have one coz we have a coldwater tank :( (but my goldies are gorgeous too, just had to say that in case they get jealous! )

  • thats a sweet pleco!!!!! I hope I can raise mine to be that big what did you feed it?

  • wont steamed brocolli dirty the water?

  • @yomexicosfinest93 . . . no

  • dam

  • I did not know about the clean water thing. THANKS! Always thought it was tank size that dictated the growth. My Pleco is about 14 inches and he is 25 years old. He is in a 30 gallon now and I'm getting ready a 75 gallon. Going to have lots more wood and hiding spots for him.

  • I am so glad you posted this video with information. I Lol'd at the Maximus Plecostomus in the beginning!

People need to realize that "common plecos" grow very big, and need a variety of fresh veggies to help them grow. Many also think plecos grow to the size of the tank, but that's because of what you stated above, their growth hormone shuts down, not good for the fish!

If people have small tanks, purchase fancy plecos that stay to about 5 inches! Glad he's enjoying his new home!

  • steamed broccoli and what else they can have for dinner?

  • Their mouths totally freak me out!

  • holy hell hes a monster

  • i bet your tank was spotless lol

  • lol he is huge mine is just a little guy probibly an inch or so and my brother has one that is about 6 inches amazeing the they get so big

  • cool fish my sis had one in a 10 gallon tank cause she didn't realize the got so big but it ate everything that wound up on the bottom including fish. once it got to about 2 inch though she gave it back to the pet store

  • Being a bottem feeder, I wonder if they taste like flounder,

  • i usually dont consider plecos as "fish"...they just keep the tank clean ......but THIS! is indescribable lol...

  • Ugh! I have one of these! Or at least had. I had to give it away because it got so big! It would have gotten bigger if I had a bigger tank! I finally gave it away! Mine got maybe aboyt 10 inches. It was huge!

  • dang that is big!

  • wow he was adorable! i wish i could have bought him!

  • you're right the tank size did not limit the growth of your pleco but did the tank size make the pleco find it hard to swim around.

  • @Siukaay Probably. :-)

  • @PlecoPlace Could you please explain why you sold it?

  • @crazyweirdomimicers

I've had fish tanks for 18 years and I wanted a break. :-)

  • @PlecoPlace My gosh <(O.O)> That looks priceless, time after time i come back to watch this video and in my thoughts "Wtf he sold it for $20, i would've bought it for a $100+" now everyday i stare my little plecos compared to this GIANT ZAMBOZO you used to have LOL
