Is it some kind of European/German thing - diving backwards into bed? I noticed a lot of the girls and some of the guys jumping into the bed back first...which seemed to make the prank work better.

I jump into my bed sometimes because its higher than normal. I get some momentum and place two hands on the bed and swing my legs around foward and to the right so that I land in the bed...but I don't do this with beds like this one which are normal height.
