Letterman went on way too long asking him questions about the Beatles. You know Sir Paul has to be bored shitless about that. However, he clearly loves playing the music. I just saw him 2 weeks ago in Atlanta with 45,000 other fans. He played mostly Beatles songs for 2 1/2 hours. Amazing.

Letterman has confessed that although he loves his job he gets nervous as hell whenever he's on camera or in front of a crowd. He's actually a very shy person in almost a cronic case. Put that along with interviewing Paul McCartney and here's what happens. I agree though, that he should've retired a few years ago. I remember he was funny in the 80's/early 90's when he did NBC Late Night, but he just doesn't seem "on it" anymore. The show just feels like "hey, let's be nice and humor grampa."

Yesterday's show, one day after the historical appearance of Sir McCartney, showed how SHARP David Letterman can be. He was at very top: the rhythm was amazing, the monologue was incredible sharp and refined; it was like watching a concert where every performer is doing their very best.

And Letterman's style is unsurpassable.

Yes, Paul did kinda save the interview. Letterman's questions were a bit basic. Nice he shed some light on the Beatles publishing issue. Handled it with class, no bitterness and only nice things to say about MJ...although he must've been really pissed off at the time!

Paul has a sadness about him these days. Not as bright-eyed and cheery as he was as a young lad, but still has loads of charm and humor. No disrespect to MJ or Elvis or Dylan, but nothing has come close to the influence or mad popularity or musical greatness of the Beatles. I'm not sure if younger generations of music fans are really aware of their impact on the world. But anyway, thanks for posting. Great to see Sir Paul, even though my favorite Beatle was George by far, (but I loved them all.)
