Biking music is what REO speedwagon is all about..............cruising a Harley at 70 toward the mountains in late afternoon and coolness is coming on from the sinking sun....
I'd like to sayREO IS THE BIGGEST NO GOOD FOR NUTHIN,BUTT HEAD,MULE FACE DOG KISSING YANKEES THEIR EVER WAS .THEY WAS SO JEALOUS OF A LOCAL BAND CALLED PARADOX ,THEY CUT THERE SHOW SHORT AND THEY UNPLUGGED THEM IN THE MIDDLE OF FREE BIRD.I WENT TO SEE THEM AND I TELL YA PARADOX WAS ROCKIN,I LEFT AND GAVE MY TICKET TO SOMEONE ELSE SO THEY WOULDN'T HAVE TO PAY TO SEE A MADE IT BAND GET BLOWED AWAY BY A LOCALBAND.YEP .AND I TELL YA THEY AIN'T SH-T RIDIN WALKIN OR PUSHIN A WHEELBARROW.
What the hell is your poblem.I don't care if you are a Reo Speedwagon fan our not.
I have followed Reo's carrer for 26 years and I know Reo's History to a t.I meet Reo the original band Gary Bruce and
Alan were down to earth guys.Bruce and Neal were jerks. But I will tell you this Gary has never been gay and I don't know where you heard that but it is false.Have have some damn respect and grow up
Kran.........I started following REO in 74.....now its '09......35 years for me.......I spoke to Garys' Mom on the phone in the late '70's.....from East Peoria, Ill.
How did you get to talk to Garys mom sounds to good to be true.Have you checked out my video of me playing keep pushing on guitar?Tell me what you think
Perfect comment discours.....an "almost perfect" rocker, from a so-so LP (at best.) Look at my other post regarding this song....Its great, but it shoulda cut loose!
I've been an REO fan sincce 1972...and for you young people yes they were around.....had to do my part calling radio stations...enough of thst.........THIS song should have BEEN HUGE! It wasnt. Gary should have cut loose with a LONG solo like on Golden Country....damn what might have been..Yeah ya gotta roll with the changes, but without Gary Richrath, uh, no.
I've been seeing so many comments and posts defending Gary Richrath like a saint or victim or Kevin Cronins ego. The fact is Gary was drinking and drugging himself to death.
He would show up at the studio to record drunk or wasted or both and refused to change
because, as the other band members have said Gary considered it wimping out. If Gary had sobered up like the rest of the band Kevin would never have asked him to leave. That's the real story and Gary knows it. I've said my piece.
I'm personal friends with Gary Richrath. Gary is a freaking drunk, no question. But so is Kevin, and a huge Cocaine head. Gary quit drugs long before the rest of the band. The reason the band broke up was the difference in musical direction. Kevin wanted to pursue a more ballad driven future, and Gary wanted to rock. Kevin tried to take over producing from Gary, and begun to try to shorten his solos. He also began refusing to allow Gary's songs on the album. That's why Gary left.
Gary is doing really well, he's enjoying the retired life. He's living in So. California with his wife, and his youngest son is in High School. He and I sat in the park last summer and played guitars almost every day, he's great to the people of his community.
@jacobwalters85 Jacob: Does Gary have hard feelings towards Kevin Cronin?
I hope he has left it behind. I can understand Gary 's feeling such a way. Cronin after all has shown himself to be a very unforgiven and spiteful person. The hurt he has caused Gary for years is just brutal. Gary's guitar was always the greatest asset of REO Speedwagon! Tell Gary I wish him and his all the best and ensure him that he made his mark in music history by playing some of the greatest solos ever.
@xxmickeyzeroxx He really does have negative feelings because of the way that Kevin drove a wedge between the band members and him. He loves Kevin like a brother, and it truly breaks his heart the way that Kevin treated him. Kevin will still come around sometimes though, and he and Gary will laugh and talk about old times. It still has a shimmer of a beautiful thing. Kevin will never allow Gary back into the band however because he believes that the band is stronger in its current state.
Are you referring to the VH1 Behind the Music where Neal Doughty made the comments about the wimping out? That's the ony place I've heard that comment. I don't see any comments on here claiming Gary is a saint. Gary himself was very upfront about his problems on VH1 and never said an ill word about anyone, and God knows he had the right to. I did not see the same from the rest, especially Kevin, who never admitted he had ANY kind of problems or was at fault for anything.
Hey Bull...Wheels was fine...but like I say, this song shoulda been huge....it had the capability to be a real ass kicker, but it just ended. Same thing with the song "Lighting" from the "COW" LP....

Kevin Cronin is REO Speedwagon - love his voice... BTW I always thought Steve Perry sounded queer and I hate Journey
jmerringer 2 years ago
Yes, admitting your hate for another band is DEFINITELY going to get you a thumbs up here.
Sadly, that doesn't have to be taken as sarcasm since it CAN happen. But Steve Perry is pretty bad ass in my opinion, and I enjoy both bands.~

@jmerringer yes!! ur right! Steve Perry sounds SOOO much like a chick! its not as cool as REO and Cronin's sweet voice. amazing band, great song!

One of REO's best...Hell, the whole Good Trouble album is great--no doubt due to Richrath's contributions.
