really lovely - thanks- one of the few tunes I remember from primary school music class. As a complete guitar beginner I just tried picking out this tune - then came here.
Exquisite song, exquisite lyric all exquisitely played. William Barnes 'The Dorset Poet' [1801-1886] wrote LL as a poem in Dorset dialect in Nov. 1856 & it was RVW's first musical score in 1902.
My next-door-neighbour is Barnes' GGGGG grandson! He [WB] composed some glorious poetry.............all in D. dialect & very 'moving'........my favourite after LL being "The Clote" [the lovely yellow water lily of late summer.]
@biggerthanacadillac ..Thanks for this wonderful insight from a personal level. It's such a lovely English tune but for sure I'll look into some more of Barnes's poetry. Thanks again, and I'm pleased you enjoyed my version of this.
@msf60khz ... Thanks ! .. actually played that from sight, and I think that took something away from the performance, I prefer to memorize. Glad you liked it though and appreciate the comment :-)
Alrite Shaun. Mark from Liverpool (ya know Tom's mate!!) Me lad wants to no if you can do Classical gas and can you show him next time ur up in the pool?
Well thanks Paul, I know you have a passion for early English music. Not totally happy with this one though - sightreading always takes something away from my performance!! I may re-post. Have a good week Chuck.
Well Shaun you certainly have been a busy boy lately with your YT submissions, and all of them terrific (as usual of course). This is the first time I have ever heard this piece (believe it or not) but you made it a very enjoyable moment of my evening (just before bed). Thanks for that, and thanks for sharing your magic with the world.
Thanks lalita, such a lovely comment, I do appreciate it :-) .. I hadn't heard this piece until recently but if you find a moment to listen to one or two choral arrangements of it, you'll really hear its beauty. Have a great day .. Shaun
A song I've never heard, from a film/show I've never heard of by a composer I don't know ... I think I owe it to us both to check that song out :-) ... have a great day Mari xx
Ara that's lovely! A fine choice, and nice and delicate instrumentation.

Lovely arrangement Shaun.
Very symaphetically played too.
New strings always get me in the mood too. They just never sound as good as this!

Is that a NEW guitar? Can you give us some recording tips please?
chris69666 2 years ago
It's just the old Washburn :-/ ... Recording? Somebody does that for me but the details of the gear she uses can be found in my channel notes.
