Oh believe me there were non-white people in England before the 1950s, its just that they weren't considered ppl.
Some of these non people , fought in the WWI & II some died.
They were good enough to die for your freedoms but not good enough to live in the country they protected.

I have just watched this clip again.....Wasn't Powell fantastic! Wasn't he brave! He was worthy of the term 'STATESMAN'. His rotten, ignorant detractors such as Heath and that dimwit Roy Hattersley are not worthy of such a title. Every English man/woman should have supported him in his endeavours to safeguard this country and those of us today should honour his memory by making him a role model for our own Englishness and Britishness. Enoch Powell was a great man, a visionary and one of the last true British statesmen.

Edward Heath did more damage to this country than Philby, Burgess, Maclean and Blunt combined. He was responsible for the decline of Great Britain when he sold us off to Europe and stated that this move to the EC would not affect our sovereignty. We are now ruled by Brussels. Enoch was probably the most intelligent MP of the 20th century. He loved his country and hated no race. If anyone has any doubt about that, read his 1959 speech about the Mau Mau rebellion. Powell was making an extreme argument for moderation whilst the establishment were making and still are marking arguments of moderation in the service of extremism. Innocent people of all races have died in Britain since the 60's, if people listened to Enoch they would probably still be alive.

Oh he had a brilliant mind! Everyone knew how clever and educated he was. He could speak Urdu while other MP's could not; him having been in India. He was also aware and conscious of issues such as 'racial tensions' and 'race differences'. He was against what he called 'communalism' where people of different races and cultures are 'forced' to live together because he knew at first hand how these people fought with each other. No one could ever have doubted his intellect- not even his detractors.
