Best thing to do is do it inside like a garage/ or an enclosed backyard. Make sure to have a pellet/bb trap. And I know anyone here gets an itchy finger if there's a bird landed on your backyard. Just try to not get caught and always handle your air gun / air soft like it's a real firearm because others may not know even though it may look obviously a toy
