  • what's in between the foam and the mdf?

  • @pedromiles101

It's two types of foam glued together and glued to the mdf. Have a look at my second video

    "youtube.com/watch?v=vPQWc4o2UJ0" showing some more details.

    Cheers,

    Tom

  • This is fantastic! Definitely one of the best builds and sound references Ive seen on Youtube. Your box really does a great job of trapping the sound and keeping all the noise inside....Im going to be building my box with material thats similar to what youve used if I can find it.

  • brilliant build quality! what thickness wood do you use ?

  • @SGwizard1

    thanx!

The thickness of the MDF is 20 mm / 0,79 inch. There are more details in my second video for the cab.

    Cheers,

    Tom

  • GREAT demo of REDUCING sound, but how does it sound MIC'd or RECORDED?

  • @boagley1

Just have a look at my video "IsoCab_2" where you can hear some examples of the recorded box. Meanwhile I use a different type of recording procedure by recording it three times in one step.

One channel with the pure sound, one with a bit of room (left panned) and one with a bit of chorus (right panned). Hell of a sound (inspired by Tommy Denander, which I met in Hannover at a music store)!

This is the link for my video: youtube.com/watch?v=vPQWc4o2UJ0

  • WHO WAS FONE?!

  • @SerratedAMG

My neighbours! But it's just a fake. They never called me 'cause of playing guitar...

  • Hello, nice box! Thanks for the plans. Just about to embark on building my own 'tombox'. depending on how much money it'll cost me. Just a quick question, Whats the reason for having the speaker mounted fairly high up the bottom box? I've seen a few iso boxes with space behind the speaker, just wondered why that was, Thanks again

  • @jamstodge

    Hi!

It's mentioned in my video description. Total costs are about 250,00 EUR.

The cabinet has a total height of 92 cm and the part the speaker is in is 52 cm high. I wanted the cab to be more high than wide due to space in my room. That's the reason of my way of building it.

I guess it's more a personal things than physic recommandation.

    Cheers,

    Tom

  • This is the third time I copy the correct text in and it always says "video deion" although I truly wrote "video description". I'm going nuts!!!!!!!

  • what is the mounting for the speaker please?...is it a box that has a circle in one top and then just slides down between the insulation material? thanks

  • @BRADHblackdragon

Give me a bit time and I'll place a video with the drawing, some pictures and some sounds of the inside cabinet. I'm awfully busy in the moment.

    Cheers,

    Tom

  • @BRADHblackdragon

I just uploaded a new video with details. Hope this will be of help...

    Cheers,

    Tom

  • do you have any recordings from the mic inside?great build by the way...

  • Very cool! That thing is amazing!

  • @belowthesmile

Thanx, pal! I'm really happy with my IsoCab. It helps a lot when recording rock-stuff.

I guess your IsoCab is constructed nicely. You don't need to lift the lid when changing the mike or the position of the mike. And believe me, that lid is f**g heavy. (Nearly 20 kg).

    Cheers,

    Tom

  • This is definitely the best iso-cab i (n) ever heard.

Very effective. This must be produced in series!!

Great Strat and a wonderful hair scrunchie:-)so long. D.
