@blackandgold51 They were trying to have a good mass to size ratio. For example, if Prime were a cabover, he would have been intensely shorter than what he turned out to be. (I think I heard about 10-15 ft shorter) That's why the longer nose truck is better.
@LemonProductions09 True, But I believe that Optimus Prime was origannaly a cabover and I tend to prefer staying with the origainals. And if it's mass they want then they should check out "Freightliner RV of the future" Anyways just sharing.
@azsako Yes, Optimus Prime originally was a cabover, Freightliner FLA86 model. What is deceiving about the mass to size ratio though is that cabovers in reality have as much or even more surface area than a comparitable conventional. (ie with the same sleeper bunk size) The difference is wheelbase averages. Cabovers traditionally are shorter wheelbases out of functionality and or legal reasons, but they can also have the same 300+ inch wheelbase conventional show trucks have.
@azsako Not to mention the curb height comparisons between cabover and conventional. By building the cab around and on top of the engine, cabovers are also taller than conventionals, especially when they are Aerodyne models (taller sleeper with upper vista windows) This means the Optimus Prime truck can be trailered to shows, whereas Motormaster cannot, even after removing the intakes and exhaust.
Right. Michael Bay stated Optimus stands 28 feet(conventional truck form), but in an interview, ILM's Scott Farrar stated "The movie's Optimus Prime is 32 feet tall and made of 10,108 parts - and every single one had to be modeled and painted when they came within camera range. This puts him on the same height as the movie's Starscream and 2 to 4 feet shorter than Megatron as well in the film."
I just still wish that Michael Bay should haves used Optimus Prime as a Cabover.
When I first saw him as a conventional truck in the Transformers 1 preview movie I felt a little akward at first due to him being a conventional truck, but I got used to him since I like conventional trucks too.
But, after seeing this video of Motormaster still being original, it really makes me want to see OP as a cabover lol.
@blackandgold51 well its a posablilty we could be seeing him like that cos apperntly hes gonna have a differnt look to him and bumblebee probably partly due to the fact there not gonna be able to sell a 40 plus figure 3 times in a row
@azsako very true optimus did start out as a cabover but for the movies they turned him into "in my opinion" the better looking peterpilt 379 flattop with double jj headlights
@blackandgold51 It really depends on the cabover the argosy waas not very menacing the w900l is a menacing depending on the accesories alot of cabovers are menacing due to to fact it is basically a block it has a wide powerful stanceI do like cabovers but they are very uncomfortable and have the ability to cause more hearing damage then a conventional I love both but they each have there ups and downs
@blackandgold51 no doubt this truck is cool, however good luck ever seeing it with a trailer as the owner of it isn't a truck driver and has no cdl. I've talked with him at kenworth in abingdon va. where my truck was in the shop and it is considered a recreational vec. with the dmv. He can't drive it legally with a trailer unless he gets his cdl.
All that makes me wonder is why they couldn't have used a truck like that for Optimus Prime. I know it's not the same, but it a hell of a lot closer than the Peterbuilt they ended up with.
@piplup2009 This truck is a Kenworth K100E Aerodyne. The Aerodyne is a double bunk sleeper with two beds and enough room to stand behind the driver and passenger seats. The upper windows, or vista windows as they are referred to by Kenworth were put there so anyone riding in the top bunk could see out if they wanted. It is a very nice view from up there.

@Trailerrigger
I can't wait till' this thing finally has a trailer.
It will make this rig look huge and a lot better than the Peterbilt used as Optimus Prime.
I myself would have had Optimus Prime as a Cabover. A 1984 Frieghtliner with a 8v92 Detroit Diesel.
Cabovers the way I see it look menacing than Conventional Cabs.
