  • well he was mexican first of all number one lol

  • Phone's dont do anything, If you've watched Mythbusters then you'll know, they filled a chamber completely with petrol fumes and rang the phone inside, nothing happened in the slightest. Static is the main problem

  • did he die

  • What A Dick Head!

  • I couldn't even see a phone, and I've seen this video elsewhere and that says he used a cigarette lighter to look in the tank!

The explosion comes from the left and I'm not even sure it came from the tank. Could have been something else alltogether.

Phones etc. are banned from petrol/gas stations and other areas because they interfere with the pumps and fire alarms. They don't have the energy to cause a spark. It is more likely to cause a spark walking in rubber sole shoes.

  • why was he putting his cellphone inside a tanker?

  • MythBusters say no! Cell phones do not cause gas pump fires.

    watch?v=uw6-PhvcS3M

  • This was not caused by a mobile phone, the guy used a cigarette lighter. There have been no cases in the world of a mobile phone causing any such outcome. It is a scare tactic used because of a lack of understanding.

  • He should have grounded himself. Had nothing to do with the phone.

  • SALE NOW ON!!!

Slightly roasted bouncy balls! Get yours today! Only 3.99!

  • Does he use his phone as a light to see inside the tanker? Stupid fucker ;)

Although stop drop and roll didn't work so well.

  • it was a lighter, they showed it on tv

  • Not the mobile phone, they can not ignite vapors, They don't give off any static, Flames or Sparks. But your clothes / body does create static electricity shocks.

  • I love how it expoldes and then all these random balls just appear.

  • Hahahahahahahs I love this video absolutely classic hahah

  • where did the balls come from?

  • Filipino Shell !!!!

  • I dont get it!

  • what the fuck was he thinking?

  • it is called a llighter

  • WOW !

  • free balloons anyone?

  • THATS GOTTA HURT

  • Once again stupid people not knowing anything about cellphones they CANNOT cause a spark enough to ignite gas its been proven in many many scientific times even by mythbusters that it wont explode gas even in the perfect setup so it was static electricity or some other fault on the truck

  • how sick in the head can you be to do something like that

  • Should have got a BP tanker in.... That would have completely wrecked the place for good..

  • V- POWER BABY!! LOL!

  • Too many explosions will scare away customers.

  • holy shit did u see that guy's body?!?! :O

  • dude he didnt use a phone i seen this before but from a different view it was a lighter he pulled out

  • @smileyd2393 ...that takes even more intellegence than a cell phone! ...I cant see the writting on the gas tank...OH...Ok...let me get my lighter! DUH!

  • dude he didnt use a phone i seen this before but from a different view it was a lighter he pulled out

  • it was deff a lighter dumb cock

  • he grab a lighter

    not a cellphone

  • he was covered in the petroleum which didnt help trying to put out the fire jeez looezz

  • are baloons for the 100th customer fire. congrats.

  • Comment removed

  • it's a lighter...

  • Really it looks like he dropped the cell phone which caused a spark when the phone hit the tank.

  • he dropped the cell phone into the hole. That what started it, The guy died.

  • i would not blame the phone , i would blame static charge on his body and the truck prob was not grounded

  • @MrCohibaboy No it was the phone Iv seen this before and let me tell you it's no joke, electronics and gas vapor do not mix. you go ahead and keep thinking it's not the phone and I'll see you on youtube getting 3rd degree burns.

  • @James1toknow you need to learn more about this lol , mobile phones dont cause fires lol its been proven already. first thing everybody needs to do before inserting the pump into the car is to touch the car with your hand to ground yourself to the car and ground then fill up

  • @MrCohibaboy What does the sign on the pump say? No use of electronic devices! Go ahead and believe what you want, I'm a telecom tech and know it's not a spark as you call it, it's the static electricity caused by the device in the right condition. LOL I have installed explosion proof phones in fuel centers and dust environments. You could be fine 9 out of 10 times, but then boom your done, safety first and you live, instead of being a know it all and loosing. Safety is applied not earned!

  • @James1toknow Dude, cars are chalk full of electronics. If it were electronics that caused explosions, don't you think there would be a hell of a lot more explosions? Ipods, phones, digital watches, gameboys, radios, stereos, etc. The phone thing is a load of shit

  • @wbrycem Your right and that is why your not supposed to use electronic devices at the pump! So shut your car off, put the phone and gameboy down and you will be safe! It's just make sence right! Ask a person that has suffered burns if he would have followed the safty rules!

I have seen fist hand what a person looks like that has been burned head to toe and it's painfull!

  • @MrCohibaboy well a cellphone did not cause the accident at all, but what actually casued the explosion was that the truck was not earthed AT ALL!

  • grow up

  • luckily the red shirtd guy doesn't pour moar gasoline to that burned down guy -.- how did you get this?

  • and what about the guy? ... is he safe now?

  • he checked the feul tank with a lighter hahahahaha

they can pump it but they cant be safe or understand the physics of fumes ... I wonder if thats why they call it GAS not liquid...lolol

  • hahahahah, it was a phone. this is now a training video at refining/chemical plants. hahahahhahah, read the Title, lololol, moron. hahahahah

  • Actually, if you research the video, it's not the cell phone that caused it.

  • amazing video!!!

  • OMFG dude this is so epic that my head blew up from laughing

  • i wonder wat happened to the guy............

  • Did the truck die?

  • LoL What An Idiot, Who Puts A Lighter In A Fuel Tanker Full Of Gas?... And BTW What Were All Those Plastic Balls Rolling Around?

  • Folks I have to tell you a few sad truths about the human condition. After 37 years as a paid firefighter I have seen just about every piece of human stupidity you can imagine by all kinds of people, including even firefighters. I no longer believe that "No trained (insert whatever title you like) would ever (insert whatever stupid act you like) ...." because strangely enough, being human they have, and I and most other emergency service professionals have seen the tragic results first hand.

  • I work at a petrol station, and I know for a fact that a mobile phone could not possibly cause this destruction. The attendent obviously let one of the most logical and basic rules slip when he used a lighter. This story is famous for its stupidity and is known in service stations all around the world

  • There is still debate about this, but it is true that there is no PROVEN ignition of fuel vapour by a cellphone documented anywhere yet. It is believed this was caused by a lighter HOWEVER It is a proven fact that a cellphone can technically be a source of ignition in a number of ways. Most fuel station fires are caused by static electricity from people entering and leaving vehicles while refueling. Stay careful out there!

  • Listen to yourselves. A LIGHTER. WHO IN THEIR RIGHT FREAKING MIND IS GOING TO CHECK A TANKER FULL OF GAS WITH A LIGHTER. You guys use your heads for once if not your common sense, theres a reason why we evolved brains. No trained gas attendant would have used a lighter on a gas station specially when handling fuel, it would have been drilled into them in orientation. Likely he was using the CPs light to illuminate the inside of the tank and the pure gas vapor on the inside suddenly ignited.

  • not a cellphone....the idiot grabbed a lighter to check if the tank was empty

  • It look likes he reach down the pipe and cause it to ignite. I didnt see any cellphone...

  • that guy's on FIRE!!!

XD great idea with the lighter haha

who bloody thought that was a cellphone? since when do cell phones make petrol explode? retards...

  • cell phones dont cause fires . you seen mythbusters yet ? Static discharge . fucken guys has a sweater on for fuck sakes

  • haha, man on fire :3

  • Makes ya really want that new Hydrogen technology right now, huh?

  • FFS! People Mobile phones don't course FIRE!! O.o Please research your info and learn!

  • pwnd lol

  • Lol a lighter on top of a petrol truck, Brilliant!

  • what a goonnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnn

  • when will people realize that a solid state device is NOT going to be able to ignite anything

  • OMG! I have worked in a shell gas station but refuel of the tanks was stricktly occured during daytime, only, for safety reasons.

And every time I was going to the top of the truck I was leaving the cell phone in the store not in my pocket.

  • i would hate to be responsible for that xD

  • fuckin' idiot!

  • where is this

  • Saw this same video on tv. The fire started because the employee used his lighter to check the inside of the tank. No cell phone.

  • lol

  • this poor man just pray for him

  • Actually, you're both right, in a sense. Mythbusters supposedly disproved the notion that a cellphone can cause a gasoline explosion, so peppoman is correct in that there is no documented case. On the flipside, firemedic561 targets in on the static electricity. I'm willing to bet it wasn't so much the cellphone as it was a static charge on the guy that ignited the fumes.

It's generally not wise to argue fire science & fire behavior with a firefighter. We typically know what we're talking about.

  • omg....

  • The light from a cell phone can ignite the fumes. Gasoline fumes are more dense. If you don't belive me try using a lighter. Fill the fumes in a coke can in the dark for at least 1 or 2 mins and then turn on the light. You will see the can will jump and flames shooting out from the top.

  • To firemedic561, actually I was a high school drop out and was a manager at a gas station and the static electricity is what your "higher" functions run off of. I bet if you rub a balloon on your head, you get way too excited. quit playing with matches little boy, dinner's ready.

  • R.I.P??

  • There has never been a documented case of a cellular phone igniting gasoline vapors ! Think about it: when was the last time you saw a cell phone creating an electric arc? Have you ever touched the antenna and caused a spark? Has your antenna ever sparked while you were talking? Drop your phone in a bucket of gas, it won't explode.

Sorry, this video is wrong, if it were true, then there would be fines for using cell phones at gas pumps.

  • You MUST be a high school dropout. You're a freaking moron! It's called STATIC ELECTRICITY stupid ass! Noone said anything about an active arc. And it's not the gasoline that ignites, it's the fumes. Sad this worl is loaded with idiots like you.

  • Actually, some gas stations here have warnings signs at the pumps that show no smoking, no cell phones, not automatic locks/alarms.. There is a worry that these things can ignite fuel or fumes or they would not be posted.

  • not ultra-bright

  • he dead?

  • what a dumb fucka lighter?

  • Oh shit!!!!

  • actually he IS using a lighter, the build up of gas fumes was ignited near the service of the gas tank causing a fire ball to hit him in the face. For everyones information he did survive the incedent with some severe burns, but hes lucky to be alive.

  • ouch!

  • i think he was using a cell phone for light cus he couldnt see what he was doing lol danggg that sucks to be him

  • They had no idea what they where doing. You can tell by the way the driver was backing in and out of where he was going to unload. Dumb ass!!!

  • by the way he used a lighter and I do believe he lived it was in the paper

  • holy crap

  • no way to know dude ...

  • Did he live?
