Alot of the moves come from Yang Style, Huang Wen-Shan, was a good practitioner and wrote a great book. Funny how they say Tai Chi Chih is there own when it was copied. Tai Chi Chih is good but has a lot of errors if corrected with other tai chi basics we might have a art form or not depends on the practitioner.
This series was originally hosted by a woman, Carmen I think? And justin was often a guest for talks about the origins of Tai Chi Chih and his experiences in china and such..
He's very interesting, but I liked the female instructor much better.. does anyone know what the name of that series was? I'm very interested in getting a copy
@tccabq Oh man thank you very much! I've been looking for this series for YEARS now. I used to watch it every morning(It was on at a ridiculous hour, like 5-6 am in my grade school years). Watched it every morning when I got up for school :) thank you, thank you, thank you!
@SkanRashke -- Carmen Brocklehurst hosted the public TV show produced by KNME-TV in Albuquerque. You can purchase the set of 13 interviews between Justin and Carmen. Carmen also has her own instructional dvd that she sells (one from the KNME show and another one).

Sorry for another post but after a little research I found tài jí chǐ or tai chi chih. Have you invented this or is this associated with the original exerices developed by Chen Tuan sometime between 871-989 A.D.)? If this is the source I am interested in the lineage you went through to get this information. If you invented this, why did you choose the name?
Justin Stone originated these movements in 1974, and he chose the name for the reason in the post below. Stone was a T'ai Chi Chu'an master and taught it in the US, but he found that his students could not, would not, or did not master all 108 movements required before the flow of Chi could be felt. So he came up with two or three warm-up exercises for his Tai Chi Chuan students. These came to be known as Rocking Motion and Bird Flaps its Wings, the first two movements in Tai Chi Chih.
I am carious about Stone's linage. You stated that he was a Tai Chi Chu'an master before developing this system. Who did he study with and under what style of Tai Chi Chu'an? There were only one or two Masters in the USA at the time Stone would have been learning. Did he train in China or the USA?
Mr Stone works with T'ai Chi Chih he does not talk much about his days (beyond a passing reference) as a T'ai Chi Ch'uan practicioner. Having said that, his friend and teacher was Huang Wen-Shan.
Chih means "knowledge of." T'ai Chi means "supreme ultimate." Combined, T'ai Chi Chih means "knowledge of the supreme ultimate." So this practice, T'ai Chi Chih, is a means for knowing the supreme ultimate. It's not a marketing thing at all. In fact, it is sometimes a detriment because people think T'ai Chi Chih is a short form of T'ai Chi Chu'an and they confuse the two. But it couldn't be farther from the truth. Where T'ai Chi Chu'an is a martial art, T'ai Chi Chih is more about peace.
Curious: I looked for the word chih and could not find the translation. Tai Ji usually translates into Supreme or grand ultimate to my knowledge. So what exactly does Tai Chi Chih mean? Is it a business decision to help market your invention due to the popularity of Tai Chi?
Its so nice to watching your teach. I am chinese, but I know nothing about it. I didn't believe those things about 'chi' before, but recently I saw few video on youtobe ,I strongly believe that the famous chinese TaiChi masters would not lie to make fakes due to the chinese culture background. Really appreciate your work here which can passes one of the greatest human civilization.
The primary difference is that T'ai Chi Chih is NOT a martial art. (It can be summed up as the difference between peace and war.) TCC is not a short form of T'ai Chi Chu'an. TCC activates, balances, and circulates the chi, or life force, within us all.

It's wonderful to see T'ai Chi Chih on YouTube, introducing another group to the amazing benefits of Chi!
