@scottyBoland, I did do the big three, and yes, this is a stock alternator! It's the bigger one(136 amp Bosch unit, optional when the truck was bought new). Does 15V. Since it has been litterally freezing cold, I have seen as high as 15.3 @ the distro blocks in the back.
Ryanorr15@ that's pretty high, but if you wire your stuff right it won't harm anything! Resistors will lower your current from the battery to the amplifier, it's just findingthe same amount with the resistors:)
@iloveporn412, yea I got lucky. I have seen a few people get 15 volts outta their alts from doing the big three now. I still want the module though, just so I can get that much more voltage. What do they go for for the kit you have? Also what's the highest voltage you have seen come out of that guy? I'dlike to see a constant 15.5. I think I'd be happy with that! Makes for fast battery charging.
@yamahabanshee350, That's near perfect voltage man. That's technically where it's supposed to sit. Anything UP TO 15v is safe, but you start boiling out the electrolyte in the batteries above that voltage. Below 14.4, your batts are not getting fully topped off, and after a while of not topping them off, they tend to sulfate. Your right where your supposed to be bro.
ill put one up to. and for sure i wana see it. and i run my sub at 4 ohms cause its a dual 2 and my amp is 2 ohm stable but at 4 ohms my amp pushes 1600rms and my voltage drops from 16.2 to about 15.9 at full power. im sure if i had it running 2 ohms at 3300rms id be dropping a lil more. im gona try to get a btl dual 1 ohm and put that in my jeep and save my jugg for my next car.
@LILitaly773, How do you have it set up now? Is the factory wire there, and you just added the extra run to it with a seperate fue block? I'd like to see! Make a vid mang! I have not seen vids from you in a loong time.
You might have to modify the factory fuse panel to get the wire to fit, but it's plastic, so a small hack saw and some fine sand paper should take care of that, AND still look factory.
i didnt put much time into doing it. just the alt to batt, neg on batt to fender and block to fender. i need to redo it all to the frame. but i dont have a jack and my truck is really low.
as for vids i have a new truck and gonna be putting in 2 18" HDC3 Audio Que's which i have. not sure what im gonna power them with yet, lookin at 2 AQ3500Ds
@LILitaly773,That sounds like a pretty serious plan there. You should be into the 150's with that kinda equipment, and a good install. That's what I am trying to shoot for by next summer, exept I'm going all Sundown for amps and subs. Same thing really though. I'm wanting to do 2 15's or 2 18'' NightShade subs in a massive ported box, and either two SAZ-D3500's or maybe 1 SAZ-D4500. Depends on the pricing when I can afford to buy them. Just got a new job so it will all work out.
@LILitaly773, Ahhh yea! I remember that one! That's a sweet ride. Those S-10's are good trucks. My sis had one that manned up for 180,000 miles before it needed anything internal on the motor.
I'm ready for the real deal. This Alpine equipment was a good taste of some decent sound and SPL's, but it's time for upgrades. I have done MASSIVE studying on whats good and I think both our choices are where it's at. I'm on SMD and SSA, both user names are "Wattsup". I just read, I never post! lol!
@jrlegend23, Damn! My bud Roy's truck did almost 16v after the big three upgrade. I have a clip of it too. I'll upload it to show ya. It seems a lil high, but he's experienced zero ill effects. His battery is taking it like a champ. I always though anyrhing over 15 volts was going to overcharge the shit out of a SLA battery, but he has not had any problems. Time will tell for sure though. 16.2 is gnarly! What voltage can you hold off at full tilt?
@jonmanch3st3r, Oh yea! To be honest I have found that all the equipment(Even the subs) runs a lil cooler with the voltage up. I'd go to touch the amp after a good beating, and it would be warm before, now it stays near body temp. I think my batteries were not getting fully charged before too. I'd only get them to 80% before the low voltage kept them from getting all the way topped off. It made a really big difference. Now for more copper, a HO alty, some real Sundown power, and real subs!
@Hless421, yea, I would think the ignition should get a lil hotter, and everything else electrical gets a lil extra voltage boost to work faster, better and cooler.
@mmatsjugg, Dude!!!! That track is FUCKIN NASTY! It's a woofer cooker for sure! I smashed one set of windows at a 7-11 and a whole slew of peeps came out to see the setup. I wish I had my damn camera on me. They said it was the deepest bass they have EVER heard! Don't know what kinda systems they have been listening to(Must be weak sauce if my truck was the best they heard Lol!), but it sure makes me proud of these lil mainstream subs! I'll make some shake vids tomorrow! PERFECT frequencies!
@tom58c, that's my bud Roy's BAD ASS CHEVY... It's older,('96) but it's sooooooooooooooo clean. It had all strait TOP of the line shit too. His voltage sits at 16V! I'll upload a vid if you want!
@xregulatorx, The big three brother!!! That's ALL I did! Do it in alt least 4ga. I did my freinds 98 Tahoe, he gained almost a volt too. Went from 14.2 - 15 as well. It's all about charging runs bro! The bigger that better!
did you do your big three on a stock alt? or does it just sort of look oem, just wondering haha

Wow dude that is crazy I guess you might not need the module, but idk its up to you! Nice set up with the batteries!
