DEVO and Miami vice do go together well...Going under was an awsome tune...Devo symbolises The future and technology in two differant lights. Remember...Duty now for the future..Wich is exactly what crocket and tubbs were doing and what the 1980's were doing..
@malakatandrunas Actually he's right. Crockett's watch is on, then off. And it you look at the strap carefully, it keeps changing from gold to gold/black
@Gehirnstrudel it wasnt the real Daytona, it was a kit replica based on a 1980 Chevrolet Corvette C3, and because of it, Enzo Ferrari filed a lawsuit demanding that McBurnie and others cease producing and selling Ferrari replicas. As a result, the fake Ferraris were removed from the show, with Ferrari donating two brand new Testarossas as replacements.
awesome scene from miami vice. getting ready to go out for a late night meeting. putting on the rolex, cologne, gold chains, money clip, ferrari warmed up. great song.

I wish they would bring MV back again because it was the best TV show there ever was! Nobody ever had the music and film put together in such a way in a regular television show the way Miami Vice did. Although the original actors couldn't perform in the same capacity in a new remake, they could show them in higher positions being brought back together to head up a new division in order to combat some old problems.
I would love to see this in production again, but done RIGHT.
Picture it 1985 a bunch of kids going to the quincy fair, a boom box for a radio this song blastin in the back seat I remember it like it was yesterday.
Trust me pal this is "going under" by Devo. Its the opening sequence sometimes they speed it up and when you listen to the whole track it may sound a little different
Can somebody tell me the name of the songs in the first episode where Tubbs fight wih the gorilla of Calderone...Are the first minutes of the show...Anywone remember!!!! THANKS!
actually, you see crockett's unopened bottle of cologne sitting on the table with the credit cards and bullets. It was Tubbs who used the fragrance..or cologne.
Adding the accelerating car at that beginning burst is a very good touch, I feel this is better than the original with just these little additions. It gives the song more character.
nice video its alright with this music but i think its better with "In The Air Tonight" it just adds more to the scene i think...thats just my opinion
This particular episode scene ALWAYS had the Devo song "Goin' Under"... "In The Air Tonight" is in the PILOT/EPISODE 1. This is from episode 2 aka Heart of Darkness.
Maybe it's a slight recap scene, but it was that way when it aired in ep 2.
ok...thnaks for letting me know so i dont make a fool out of my self again lol. i think i thought it was the other scene because it looks similar but now that i look at it it is different
This scene rocks hardcore. I think I even like this sequence more than the "In The Air Tonight" scene from the pilot. Nothing like watching the Daytona barrelling down the back streets of Miami.
When I first heard this song in Miami Vice, I went looking for it immediatley. A pretty hard song to find. The images and music in Miami Vice work. If they'd made a series of films instead of a series back in the 80's it would have been a huge hit probably.
The only reason they blew that one up was because Ferrari were annoyed a replica Daytona (not a real Daytona Spyder, those are rare and valuable) was passed as a real Ferrari. So, they gave the producers of the show two brand new white Testarossas. One used a stunt car and the other for filming the actors inside.
But I agree, and so does other Ferrari enthusiasts. Real Ferraris have a V12 in the front. Like the Daytona.
the devo track is not the same on their albums as it is on the vice scene, the music in this video is better than there album version, but where can you get it.
It is "the same", but only the first verse and right before the chorus it cuts to the end of the song to make the song fit the sequence.
Maybe the background noise and the fact that it plays a little faster in the video (guess it was taken from a PAL-version which plays about 4% faster than NTSC-recordings) are a little distracting.
This is THE greatest episode of the whole series, with one of THE greatest music sequences. The only other one that ever came close was the end of "Out where the busses don't run" with the Dire Strait's "Brothers in Arms" playing.
That's not to say the rest of the show wasn't brilliant as well (esp. the first 2 seasons), but those two take the cake.
not really the last like 3 seasons were dark, theyre the most that micheal mann directed, he preferred a darker role in the show, still the show ruled overall lol
