Looks like the Live Fire drills we used to perform at Waiouru Army Camp.New Zealand Infantry Regiment amounts to 2 Combat Battalions,made up of 3 companies,Supported by a Logistics Company.Man I would love for us Territorials to the states and have a JTF excercise with these guys.
the M2 .50 caliber machine gun being used since the 1950? 1:16 no... earlier than that, it has been in service since WW2, not only for infantry, but it was mounted on tanks and other vehicles, and faster firing variants like the AN/M2 where used in aircraft like the P-51 mustang and P-47 thunderbolt, in fact most American fighters and even a few British fighters, used the browning M2 .50 caliber machine gun!
I would disagree that the mg was invented to save lives, the primary goal was to make a weapon that could kill more people much faster than bolt action rifles. The by-product is that it can save lives on your side of the war, but its very devastating against the enemy.
The M2 first saw combat action in World War II, since the early 1940's, so I'm not sure why they say it started out in the 1950's, unless they were referring to that particular weapon in the film.

If that saves one side's lives it doesn't mean it was the first purpose of the thing to do that.

Some could argue our current war in Iraq is only for economic gain as well, but we won't know until we look back on it years later, it's hard to judge history as it happens. I don't think it is, but we wont know yet.
I like our mindset that we've always had throughout our history, and I think we are the most charitable country in the world. I just don't like everyone that's been in charge of our country throughout history, and I think because of this some things in our history have gone sour and were not right, but I still believe in our overall mission and national character. I think the US has definitely done the most good for the world out of any country, and I love my country. God Bless America

I consider it a heavy machine gun by my standards, to me a cannon needs to be reloaded and is not full or semi automatic (although with more recent technology this is starting to not be a good standard to go by) but yeah, i consider the 30mm to be a bullet and the GAU-8 to be a machinegun, even if they are not technically so.
you can consider it what you want, but if you look up s ome actual info you'll see that it's designated a rotary cannon, not a machinegun. and there've been automatic cannons for decades... 30mm is not a bullet either... not even by a long shot.
when my brother joined he got 2 choose, if u want to be a SAW gunner u go in special training, or if u want 2 use the M203 u go in special training, im not sure how though.
no, if youre senior, or your unit gets newer guys, you get promoted up a billet.
the new joins always get rifleman/scout, if the older guys dont want to carry the SAW, sometimes the boot gets it. There were cases of riflemen and assistant gunners getting M203s
Camp wilson is the camp where units coming to train stay all the conventional training is still part of cax the urban warfare training is mojave viper there is also the DAC which is a mech assault exercise

Because I ran for... God, I don't remember how far I ran... through wadis, trenches, up and over hills and flat desert carrying a SAW, upwards of 1600 rds, and an AT-4 during the assault after doing 2 dry runs.
It's on Camp... Wilson? (it's been a while since I was there) I think is the name outside of Twenty-nine Palms. It's part of what used to be called the Combined Arms Training Exercise (CAX); now it's part of a revised training package called Mojave Viper.

But then in WW2, the army followed the air force's idea of removing the big water jacket, these initially overheated badly, but later they fitted a thicker barrel to help absorb more heat, so there you go

the A-10's machine gun, the GAU-8 minigun, fires the largest bullet in the world (other than tank shells and stuff like that, but those are shells).
It's a 30mm round. Just to put it in perspective, a .50 caliber round is only 12.6mm. And a .50 caliber bullet has a half an inch diameter.

no special training is needed.
M203, M16, M4 and M249 are all MOS0311 weapons.
Theyre given to you according to billet.
SAW gunner is 2nd in command, team leader gets the 203.

It's on Camp... Wilson? (it's been a while since I was there) I think is the name outside of Twenty-nine Palms. It's part of what used to be called the Combined Arms Training Exercise (CAX); now it's part of a revised training package called Mojave Viper.

Vicious, Yeh, the M2 was introduced in WW1 as a water cooled big bro to the 30cal, (mechanicals are just scaled up). But then in WW2, the army followed the air force's idea of removing the big water jacket, these initially overheated badly, but later they fitted a thicker barrel to help absorb more heat, so there you go

the narrorator mentioned that the m2 .50 cal was in service since the 1950s. However, i am almost certain that the weapon has been in service since WW1, i think the year was 1917-18? however I am not sure on what year exactly. Someone please correct me if i am wrong
