  • I seen enough, it's time to purchase!

  • Dude, you made this video, now will you compare USB 3.0 HDD vs SSD

  • great review man

  • @blake9870 Just looking at that poor design, I can tell right away that fan isn't going to do anything. And its NOT a great review. If he knew anything about cooling, he'd notice the problems I see with it.

  • Why go this route instead of a prebuilt external HD that supports USB 3.0? What is the advantage?

  • how do i find out if i have usb 3.0? is the "intel 5 series/3400 series chipset family usb enhanced host controller - 3B34" (the other one is 3B3C at the end instead) a usb 3.0???

  • hey dude show us your face :D

  • Whoa usb 3.0 looks different.

  • yeah, your test system sort of matches mine. Getting the rest of the parts on Saturday- I'm only 13!

  • Love your reviews. Nice to hear from someone who knows there stuff.

  • @mrjamesb56 Please dont delete your own comments, leave them, your entitled to your opinion even if its a misunderstanding on your part :P

  • If your looking for a good external harddrive, look no futhur than the wd my book USB 3.0.I have one and it works great.

  • @mrjamesb56 The boards will always be there for you to upgrade when the price drops and you have money. I didnt say to run out and buy it today. I think you missed the point of my reviews, regardless if you can afford it or not right at this time I recommend it for when YOU CAN.

  • Well, if you have an SSD in the enclosure, it will be almost 10 times as fast.

  • You that CrystalDiskMark version 3 is out, right?

It ads another test plus it uses a 1 GB file instead of a 100 MB file as standard.

You can select up to a 4 GB file if you want.

  • i dont have a need for the enclosure, but i am curious if you can switch out the fan for a brand you prefer,as some do better than others. I know the size cant be changed.

  • Mac OS 8.6?

  • is ubantu and lynx the same thing

  • @molina225 ubuntu is a linux based system,so yes it will work with it

  • I've heard that in Real Life USB 3.0 is only 2x the speeds of USB 2.0. OK faster but not the 10x indicated?

  • @Films4You Actually my tests proved its more like 5x so its still awesome.

  • @PCWizKid Thank you for this information

    See: watch?v=PqlqCoQMLsQ

USB 3.0 Speed Test vs USB 2.0 eSATA Internal connection (NCIX Tech Tips #71)

  • @PCWizKid Either way, twice as fast is still a vast improvement for data transfer.

  • @Films4You The bandwidth of USB 3.0 is actually capable of being 10x faster, but at the moment, the 3.0 USB external drives are limited by the HDD inside of it or, for USB 3.0 thumb drives, are limited by the flash inside the case. Think of Sata 3. Its rated at 6gb/sec. And ofcourse any drive you hook up wont reach 6gb/sec (so far) but it can handle it. If you have a drive like a WD caviar black, it will hit 135MB/sec on sata 3 and on USB 3.0. As for USB 3 thumb drives, many r hitting over 200

  • @C5Rftw Thank You very much for this information.

(So you need a fast harddrive, to benefit)

Do you think One day : Thunderbolt High Speed Input and Output may be used as standard

  • @Films4You The problem with Thunderbolt (10gb/s) is the cost, which will leave it as a high end/enthusiast product for now. firewire(400mb/s) was the fastest for a while never got hugely popular. Beta was better than VHS but went no where. The thing separating Thunderbolt, IMHO, is that unlike the two previous, Thunderbolt has 2 big advantages. 1, the awesome speed and the 2, the big thing, you can daisy chain up to 7 devices with available bandwidth of50gb/s. That could save tons of money

  • @C5Rftw Whoya... Moore's law takes another leap forward :)

I remember my first computer, Sinclair ZX80 3.25 MHz, (Meg not Giga), 1 Kb Ram which was also used for graphics as well, 4K ROM with BASIC, Television as VDU and Cassette tape for longer term storage.

I wait for Nanotechnology to catch up and then things will get very serious :)

  • @Films4You u get 10x speed if you transfer from USB 3 to USB 30

  • @dproffessa ThankYou

Only able to try a slower drive at this time see

    watch?v=gZswIbgxgJA

  • Is it possible to get 4.0 GHz with that CPU ? Else using water cooling ?

  • Does USB 3.0 and SATA 3 work together? Cause i got Sata 3 on my laptop

  • You can boot from USB 3.0 right?

  • good job adn btw your one of my favorite people on youtube :D

  • No E-sata?

  • o.o whoa

  • WD is so much better than seagate, i have a WD black 750gig (min 63.4) (maximum 132.0) (average 101.5) (burst 161.1) and access time of 11.9ms) i have only ever had WD and i love it but i do like the sound of samsung F2/F3 drives.

  • unless your useing these hdd enclosures theres no need for usb3

  • Can you do a video in which you show or test how much performace you gain from 4 to 6 cores?

    Thank you!

  • lol. in the test syszem is my CPU and my Graphic card

  • Would my motherboard from December 2009 support USB 3.0?

  • Where can i download the cursor?

  • Hey there :D

So I wanna get an external 3.5" 2TB drive with eSATA and I have to decide between the Seagate BlackArmor WS110 and the Western Digital My Book Studio II. Both provide eSATA and both have a 2TB HDD in it.

Which of them would you recommend? Or would you even recommend me another case and to buy the HDD itself and build it to a external?

Thx for an answer, I definitely enjoy and love your channel!

  • I'll stick with 2.0 until I'm ready to buy a new computer.

  • Thats really cool actually, especially with the looks, fan, and fan controller. Only problem as it costs the same as a 7200rpm 500gb hard drive.

  • Nice vid.

  • so there will be no more usb 2.0 just 3.0?

  • How do i get your cursor?

  • Very nice. I plan on getting USB 3.0 but first i need a new processor and motherboard...

  • hey pc wiz kid my motherboard say i got a 800 mhz fsb but when i look on speccy it says 200 mhz and any other spec software it says 200 mhg why??

  • it funny that people think they need a new motherboard for usb 3.0

just buy a card with 3.0 ports and install it in ur pc

  • @CRAKIZGOOD True, but why not just upgrade the board which will then also support SATA 3.0 at the same time. But yes a USB 3.0 card cost you about $25 USD.

  • @CRAKIZGOOD What do I do with a laptop with?

  • @OneCompHelp

use the slot(it on the side)on ur laptop if u have one

  • @CRAKIZGOOD Mini PCI?

  • @OneCompHelp

not 100% sure whats its called but its on the side of the laptop

  • i guess crysis 2 load times on this will be seconds xD

  • when the hell am i gona see external raid enclosures with raid :(

i only found one company but they removed it the next day but still listed on the site

  • Looks like a pretty nice thing =)!

  • For USB 3.0 motherboards, just go to a site like Newegg, go to the Motherboards section and search USB 3.0

  • What kind of mother boards support USB 3.0?

  • @MrMinatro I have them listed on my website under hardware gaming rig configurations

  • @MrMinatro almost every

  • I want Usb 3.0 now

  • Hi.
