The music is pointless. A discussion would be much more helpful. Unfortunately, because of the black on black, it is VERY hard to see how the final looping is performed. You may need to turn 45 degrees to demonstrate parts of this, so that you are working with a non-black background. However, I did get something out of the earlier segments.

There are many different style of tying the knot at the end but only ONE way to ware the hakama: first wrap the front piece belts around the waist 2 to 3 times and tie the knot in one's back. Then tie the back piece by tucking the back piece's belts under the front piece's belt and then tie the knot in the front center of the hakama. Please don't ware the hakama like this in Japan. They will die laughing. One should study more before showing off to the world and make oneself like a fool.
Agreed. Although in Aikido, unlike kendo and iaido, there's a lot more rolling and tumbling around on the ground so maybe this is the best way to tie it so it doesn't come untied easily. I don't know, I don't do aikido.

How well and long does it stay on after being thrown around doing just ukemi for a few hours the way you tie it? Just curoious as i am looking aroudn tryign to find the best way for tieing it for that sole purpose, although the way I have been shown so far, again a different method, is the best at doing so I am still looking.

I've seen some Karate & Ju Jitsu styles where they wear hakama, but with their belt on the outside of it. As an Aikidoka & Kendoka, I've never seen this before. Can anyone explain why they do this?
I know of one ju-jitsu organisation that is decended from Judo and of course in Judo they do not wear hakama. So this lot have obviously decided to adopt hakama but have no clue how to put one on.
YUP..you do it backwards..ME TOO! cuz it dosent fall down halfway through class if you tie it this way..The fact is, the only reason to tie it front first is if your going to wear it all day. Then you can untie the knot to DROP TROW..Very true, like the flap on Long Johns.. BUT I only wear it for an hour for Class, so no need for the POOPing concern. SERIOUSLY, thats the only reason to tie it front first....
No problem. The reason I made the video because I was lost once myself :). So I went to the training and asked the Sensei to demonstrate his way of tying his hakama.
The funny thing is that I do it almost completely differently :).
I am getting a hakama soon and I was wondering how the heck do you tie a hakama (good vid).

Very helpful indeed! Probably the most quick and easy i have watched (and i watched them all!!! ).
Works for me just fine and the Hakama stays in place throughout the lesson.

Don't worry guys, there are few more ways to
put on hakama depend on the style you learn.
Most important thing is
avoid tying in your back when you train martial arts.
All knots should be at the front
to avoid injuring your back.

I never realised that for Aikido it is completely the reverse of the way a hakama is tied for Iai/Kendo/Kenjutsu.
